U personally love the original DBZ games than the new ones. Budokai was the first DBZ game that was launched to the PS2. It was big hit. I believed it was better than the other games after it because it stoked to the story, had amazing cut scenes, and mode was much easier. The only things it lacked were character selection and graphcis for the moves. Overall I loved this game the most and would still play it today.

Game is amazing,only downfall to it is Goku consumes too much ki as he turns Super Saiyan. Has to be a constant recharge about every 7 seconds at least.

It sounds weird, but for some really strange reason I used to enjoy playing as Vegeta in Budokai 1 more then anyone else, but in later games he didn't really stand out to me in anything particular. Strange, I know, but I always used to see Vegeta as some sort of aura of power, since he used so many blue coloured techniques in the cutscenes. Sounds weird, but that's how I always felt about Vegeta in Budokai 1.

After reading comments on how good the story line was, I agree. They went through almost every part of the story. But I dislike the fact that you have to do combos for moves, such as Kamahameha, Calik Gun, etc.

The later games, DBZTenkaichi 1-3, Budokai 3, had some of the same stories. It was much better with the combos, seeing as how you activated a move with two buttons. I love the game, but I'll stick with Tenkaichi.

They're both great games.

It's funny, a lot of people rag on this game for having bad graphics, yet it was the only Dragon Ball Z game that had decent story cutscenes.

All the later DBZ games cut the scenes short and skimped on the story, not Budokai 1 though.

The cutscens and story mode were pretty cool in this, but the graphics and gameplay were awful. There was no detail in the fight, and you had to hit these dumb combos in order to do a move. BT series was/is better than Budokai.
