  • i want to watch this video because I am trying to get skinner

  • Please, teachers, please accept that neuroscientists know more about the brain than you do. And what do neuroscientists think of brain gym ? That it's the crazyest and stupidest exercise routine ever devised.

  • Speaking as a person who has struggled with learning challenges throughout my entire life and have tried seemingly everything with limited results, I think Brain Gym rocks!

I work out regularly, eat well, am an avid positive visualization & affirmation babbler. Then I got turned on to Brain Gym & it's like a light got switched on! I am more focused and energetic. When I start to feel "off" I do some BG now.

Oh, & I haven't had to shell out a dime, because of these wonderful YouTube videos!

  • seriously i cant do these stuffs in front of people while going to give a speech..LMAO

  • can use this with behavior students............;)

  • Pseudoscience does not work! This is pure propaganda just to generate money out of the ignorant.

  • @rataretrodos For the science of how it works: you have obviously not read the book "The brain which changes itself" by Norman Dodge on neuroplasticity.

  • @bluefairyuk Can you please provide a link to a sound (a randomized, controlled trial with a large enough group of tested individuals) scientific study, which shows the efficacy of the brain-gym program and its connection to the findings of neuroplasticity? Thank you.

  • @bluefairyuk I know what neuroplasticity is.

  • Yes, 'its' totally works. 'Its' works about as well as punching a wall to cure cancer.

  • Its works

  • What an awesome crock of overstated pseudoscientific B******T.

Peoples opinions are not material proof. They are peoples opinions. I know people who believe that drinking expensive water (homeopathy) cures malaria. That belief, like peoples opinions on BG are worth exactly squat.

Its a horrible irony that such a debasement of science is being peddled in schools by people who should know better!

  • The only material proof worth considering regarding Brain Gym are people's opinions and how they have perceived benefits through Brain Gym, although, for whatever reason, nobody can explain it scientifically. Check their website, even they will tell you they're not sure. However, it has been suggested that Brain Gym is effective due to the fact that exercise breaks are beneficial to students, of course this can be done w/o Brain Gym and it's vast amounts of nonsense science.

  • Thanks for the vid! I hope you don't mind that I included it in a free YouTube series I developed: "Tap Into Learning w/Mrs. King". As a School Counselor & former teacher, I know how important Brain Gym is for student learning...PLUS it is a great workout for everyone! I did your video this AM while focusing on a specific affirmation/intention related to my upcoming parent/student conferences. I want to be clear, concise, efficient, & effective so I can meet w/as many parents as possible.

  • As a teacher, I can vouch for its efficacy and research. I have been doing a lot of brain research to help improve my students' retention. After reading about the affective filter and the effect of exercise on the brain I have incorporated in my classroom as a way to take a break between content. I have noticed that it has helped some of my lower performing students. It helps increase the flow of oxygen to the PFC, the focus center as well as to incorporate physical activity that;s needed.

  • @proudmckinleyparent Wonderful. But have you ever checked, if regular exercise has a less significant effect on the performance of your students? Or have you ever systematically checked, whether this program really improved the reading/writing/intellectual skills of your students to the extent of the claims of the brain-gym program?

  • The bottom line is that all movement changes the brain. Specific movements have been found to create pathways that result in more efficient learning and activity. Dr's I personally know who have utilized various activities (and who don't have a huge "scientific" chip on their shoulder) know of its efficacy and add it to their toolbox of learning and stess reduction aids. And "anecdotal" does not mean it doesn't have credibility. That's really a narrow assumption, but thank you for checking.

  • @ forcedjuice "Smart Moves, Why learning..." Dr Carla Hannaford (neurobiologist) You are a winner, Trauma Recovery; Dr Svetlana Musgutova, I am the Child; Cecilia Koester. Not room here to list much. I am well aware of the "scientific" attitude about anything outside of their degreed learning. I'm related to several. BG is an educational model, you will find many papers by educators and psychologists doing studies in Ed. genres because you cannot put this in a test tube. I'll continue later.

  • @Evyllity. Good lord...what a belligerent question! Is that how you approach everything you are unfamiliar with? Sorry, but if you are too lazy to find some of the research papers (for starters) on the parent site, or to contact schools (Google) who have implemented entire BG programs successfully around the world, or borrow/buy books written by PhD's, etc who have used BG for years, (Amazon) then I can't help you. I won't do your work for you, nor further respond to an abusive attitude.

  • @houndzark After reading your comment, I decided to do some googling just as you suggested. What I found was that Brain Gym exercises are often criticized by the scientific community. What little real research that exists shows that Brain Gym claims don't hold water. Much of what they claim as evidence is just anecdotal reports. By their own admission, they haven't been peer reviewed well. Exercise is good for the brain, but going for a run is probably more effective than this.

  • Actually, there is copious research/info about Brain Gym programs used in schools, etc. worldwide, as well as article after article describing it's effectiveness with any number of sensory integration issues. The old whine about it not being "researched" is just a cop out for not looking - or DOING any! lol This is simply neural growth, integration and education. Some of those whiners have med or psych degrees and are in a great position to really contribute to this. (A few have!) O well...

  • @houndzark Bullshit. Where's this research?

  • Next lets count to potato

  • How do i download this to a dvd or a jump drive?

  • @idahocharlie try keepvid.com

  • is there another brain gym video from you? I find it very practical and useful for english second language students (subtitles) and action at the same time. Thanks

  • It works and here my rationale -- As a special needs teacher, I can see the difference in my students ability (both cognitively and physically) when they can perform midline crossing movements as opposed to those who cannot! Even if you don't believe me, why not try it, it's quick and easy and it does help those with MCI!!!

  • omgz i LOVE brain gym!!!!

  • basically relaxes u and gets ur blood running

  • i do these in school all the time every day

  • @BDOGSS2 our principal asigned us to do this everyday in our school

  • me gusto

  • Oh my gosh, guys its five minutes. Who cares if it works or not. This is more exercise than most of you are currently doing, and it is only 5 min long. If it works for your brain, then great! If not, then oh well. But I dare anyone one of you on this YouTube website to find me some research that says exercise does not help you out mentally. Regardless if it is brain gym or not. Not to mention this is fantastic for after lunch to beat the afternoon slump, or to help wake up in the morning.

  • I think is a good way to share ths information\

  • There is no research to support that Brain Gym fulfills its claims. Check out the website. They don't know how it works, it just does. The research that is provided contains way to many methodological flaws that threaten validity and reliability.

  • Who ever this person is did some actual Brain Gym activities and then a lot of his own variations. Which is fine; it all was meant to activate both hemispheres. Also, one doesn't need to be recovering from any injury to benefit from cross lateral work. It helps integrate the mind and body for doing anything more effectively! Called Brain Gym because movement like this literally "grows" the brain. And not all Brain Gym activities are cross lateral; it's just all he did here. :)

  • @ellopopit9, people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. This work out is meant for people trying to come back from some sort of brain injury. For ex: Stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain surgery for tumors. Doing these cross body exercises works both hemispheres of the brain thereby forcing them to communicate with one another.

  • f'n gay

  • why is it called "BRAIN Gym"? Because every exercise involves a cross action?

  • booooooooooooooooooooo this sucks

  • This video is perfect for students!!!

  • Seems like a nice video to jump start the brain with every morning. :) And it's only 6 minutes!!
