debcoart -yes l love his company - especially when he talks and rattles on for about half an hour - 3 times a day! Other members of the family get annoyed when he starts early in the morning and they get disturbed....lol he keeps me busy and keeps throwing his food out of his cage and on my floor...lol..
JizmakisLEET - GR is one bird that cannot be underestimated (even though he does not use the toilet) but he is confident enough to do the English althabet (plus the Indian Althabet), Maths, puzzles - Maybe if you view more of his video's - you might think differently....
Its very difficult to train parrots to go in a toilet. It's because they have very high metabolism (they fly in the wild, remember) and they have to let go of their poop as fast as possible. heh.
However parrots are VERY intelligent, some of them are up there w/ chimps and dolphins. A famous African Grey died a few years ago (who was compared to a 5 year old human)
If your cat is ok w/ birds; cats have deadly bacteria as well as hunting instinct, then do ur research and consider =)
FluffiFish - l haven't got a cat....and l think that all animals and humans carry somesort of deadly bacteria...... GR lets his poop out fast enough and freely....lol...
My meyers parrot has what I call the freedom poo. Because RIGHT after I let her out of the cage she always does business.
Yes it's true :) However most cats in particular have harmful germs in their saliva and claws.. I do not trust cats around my bird (the neighbor's almost ate it once) :o
FluffiFish -I have seen the vedios of the famous chimps and comparing with the chimps .....GR is to me considered on the same level.....I have done my research on Alex....(PS- his trainer has her own method of training and l have my own training method...) and l find her owner clever...like me....lol... Also l have come back from Miami and seen the Well trained Dolphins and crodiles and their trainers......
They are not hard to train, they are just prone to having accidents. They might be distracted, or the human doesen't pick up their warning signals...
It's true that while bacteria are everywhere, it's necessary to be very wary of cats in particular. a scratch, even from a light tap with claws unsheathed is likely to cause infection, and death after even just a day! I think the bacteria must get in the blood, so a lick is less dangerous, but still.
Chibudielvr-glad you enjoyed watching us play the snap - nice to know that you too have wonderful pets - birds are great...PS so far we have had several different pets in the past...Animals are wonderful....
Birds can be awesome pets! I have three budgies, which are very different from larger parrots, but they're very intelligent for their size! Great video, by the way!
He is such the cutie <3

Does he go to the bathroom in a toilet?
If not then I dont think birds are smart enough for my liking.. Then again my cat cant even go in the right spot.
