the exhaust was a strait pipe directly out from the headers there was no cat converter.. for those of you who dont like the way it sounded i honestly dont care you say it sounded like a tractor... remember this video was taking with a digital camera not any pro sound equiptment the car had a very aggressive cam and at the time this was shot was running on race gas... the car purred just like every other vr6 while driving and this car was a monster

@iNeedToGetOut If your car's a mk3, don't get a mk4. The swap will be a pain. Stick to 98' and earlier. The box the sparkwires go to is called coilpack, and they are pretty expensive to fix. MK4's are really just riddled with electrical gremlins. I got a shell with full interior and a VR6 in it for only 1,000, bought a jetta coupe for 600, and sold it a year later for 4,000. After awhile it doesn't take long. I've had friends come with 2.0's on friday and leave with a VR6 on sunday.
@iNeedToGetOut That's not bad. Aslong as there's no rust on the strut towers, or excessive amounts on the floor, it's a good swap car. You can sell an ABA for like 500 bucks with the transmission, so really the VR only costs like 500, depending on what you get. If you find a wrecked VR jetta, and can get it for like 1500, you could make money off of parting it out, enough to break even, most likely.
@iNeedToGetOut Yeah, not many people go the 16v route. The VR costs about 1,000 for the motor/harness/ecu/tranny. Try not to get one from a passat, their transmissions are geared looong. A corrado would be the ideal swap, it's F/D ratio is higher, at 3.65, compared to the jetta/gti at 3.39. With Intake/header/exhaust/cams/chip, you'll be hitting around 200WHP in a VR. If your 2.0 is rusted/rotted, don't bother swapping, just sell it, get a shell and the VR swap separate.

Bahnbrennermotorsports makes kits for it. It will drop your compression to 8.5:1, unless you get the euro-spec ABF pistons, which raise it to around 11. A VR6 swap would cost around 1000, depending if you can do it yourself or not. The 16v route costs around 3,000.

hey as long as right at the headers and a little there after the pipe is the correct diameter, the rest of the pipe is just to get the exhaust to exit behind the car. your motor will be fine homie, if you put a nicer muffler on it the idle nastiness will go away
awesome. i have a toyota carina e 1.6 twin cam and i welded a tractor exhaust onto it last night to come out under the drivers door. its fantabulous but obviously that car is for comedy value only.

Yes i was thinkin the same, my mate has a toyota chasser and taken the silencer out the backbox, sounds like this idleing but revs sounds nuts just like this too!
VR6 12 valve engines lack torque, race and pace...a stock BMW 325i from 1993 is still much faster in acceleration and top speed than a slightly tuned VR6 with hot cams and chip.
