well , my view is that the corner does not have a 'no turn on red' sign and the truck just expected the car to go ahead and turn because the traffic was open. the truck driver must have been looking for any on-coming traffic from the left and just expected what never happened, and that was for the car in front to go. oh well, crap happens, huh?

The person following them see them move up in their peripherals, but is focused on oncoming traffic. They pull up, thinking the person who was in front of them has moved on, and then the accident happens.
@BrothersGroove You got it right no doubt, but the problem is that most of the time the person in front stops for no reason. I see it all the time where there is room for 2-3 cars to go through but the driver in the front decides that pulling right up to the lane then stopping when the lane is clear is a good idea. IMO i think its a 50/50 accident even though the truck rear ended the car. Its only one step down from stopping in the merge lane
@dachoeks3 Its obvious the driver assumed the driver in front was turning right and looked left to make sure no other traffic was approaching. Looking back to proceed the other vehicle had stopped unbeknownst to the driver of the truck. Cell phone excuse pretty lame.
@metalroadrage17 - I done this when I was 17, the car in front moves to enter traffic and you are looking left to see that its clear, the car in front stops, assuming its not safe to procede. you are still looking left and hit the other car .

No damage whatsoever to my lumina so it was more of one of those... "Really? You're that fucking stupid moments?" The last time the local Sheriff saw it happen and all we did is laugh at the lady driving... She got so embarassed she just drove away lmfao......

Car in front waiting to turn right, gap comes and then proceeds forward, fails to take gap.
Truck driver sees car move forward and proceeds to check left for traffic, sees none and continues forward never sees car in front stop.
Stupid mistake. Always remember to check both directions even in a turning lane. You never know what could be there: cars, pedestrians, etc.

DRIVERS are trained profesionally at a driving school, and are the safest people on the road AT ANY SPEED.
