  • Unlikely as it is, I would love to see Ziltoid in this scene.

  • This and the Oklahoma sketch are the two Sesame Street skits I'll never forget.

  • This was stuck in my head all morning because we had fog, which we don't usually get. We live in the desert, LOL.

  • Time Out London makes my day (:

  • To all Americans, this is not how we British speak but very good try and funny Kermit always good

  • That's the strangest London/Cockney accent I have ever heard. I think it came from somewhere like New Jersey. London fogs are now a thing of the past - London air is now clean and clear of industrial/domestic pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. Time has moved on - any London pollution now comes from heavy traffic which applies to every major city in the world. If it's a London frog you want then I suggest you go to the Serpentine or the Regent Canal.

  • What set Sesame Street apart from other childrens' shows in the 70's and 80's is that it added humor that parents could appreciate and enjoy the show with their kids.

  • @Vatch1966 Quite right! I still appreciate some segments of the show to this day. Especially Waldorf and Statler BOHOHOHOHOHO!!!

  • If only that weatherman had come along with Kermit. The one who made the weather happen right there in the studio. I'm sure he could have provided some fog after it cleared.

  • 1:40 *done in my best British accent* The fog?! Well I beg your pardon sir. Fog and Log do sound alike.

Kermit: Yes. I know. Jolly good and Great clip.

  • Kermit really got wacked there at :26...

  • This was always my favorite Sesame Street News Flash. Too fun!

  • They always have Kermit wearing the reporter coat in these sketches.

  • wow the London England fog

  • The Queen's guard was soooo funny, with his foot-stamping and stiff, shouting voice. But there were some parts where he appeared to have loosened up after Kermit tells him he's talking about the fog.

Now I wanna go to London. ;-)

  • I think I remember seeing this skit as a kid around 1992, but it came after that "Yakkity Yakkity Yak" segment, which ended with glass breaking to reveal a black background, then the News Flash title card ZOOMED up to the screen (like Viacom's "V of Doom" logo). Anyone else remember that?

  • Awful attempt on a cockney accent but I loved the splendid hog. Jolly good, old chap!

  • I used to say "it's froggy outside" instead of "it's foggy outside" just because of this! hahaha. I looked forever for this. Glad I found it.

  • The London Frog, the London Hog and the Palace Guard sound like J Pat O' Mally.

  • @declanappleseed That is way funny. And very true. However, Jerry Nelson played both the London Frog (which sounds very much like Tweedledee and Tweedledum or the Carpenter from Alice in Wonderland) and Lord Hog of the Famous London Hogs (which sounds a bit like the Walrus from that same movie). Richard Hunt played the Guardsman, whose voice sounds much like Colonel Hathi.

  • awesome! thanks for posting this!

  • The 70's & 80's Sesame Street was the best. The newer stuff kinda annoys me-- maybe cause I'm an adult now. :-P I love the London Frog!

  • @mraestalyn The early and mid 90's were good also.

  • @mraestalyn No your right the new stuff sucks

  • aw... his little trench and hat

  • Thanks for reposting this.

  • "Are you the bloke what wants to talk about the Famous London Frog?"

"I go' a brotha what looks like you. Ol' bligh'er. Well, I'm off"

    Classic stuff!! XD

  • It's "Poor blighter" ;)

  • I was laughing when the damn guard of the Queen came in with the log screaming SIR.

  • I seem to recall seeing this when I was a kid, and it came after the "Yakkity Yakkity Yak" skit and it had the News Flash logo ZOOM up to the screen at the beginning (ala the Viacom "V of Doom") instead of the usual fade/cut. Anyone remember that?

  • Mine was.

  • Do you think Kermit's coat was maybe made by the company London Fog lol

  • Mine was.

  • That London Frog sure can pack a slap! (at 0:25-0:27) & the London Frog's accent is just like how I do a London/Brittish accent. The London Log looks more like a stick, & Lord Hog should've been performed by someone else than Jerry Nelson, 'cause he sounds like the London Frog, it should've been Kevin Clash. & maybe there could've been a London Dog performed by Marty P. Robinson (if he was with the Muppets then).

  • It's a shame we don't actually sound like that hehehe

  • When you were a kid, did you ever wonder if black kids watched this stuff?

I mean, who did "they" like the most? What does that say about "their" personality? Did "it" make "them" more aggressive? angry? anti-establishsment?

Or did "they" pity "us" b/c "we" can't dance?

  • I love this conversation;

"I've got a brother what looks like you".

    "You do?"

"Yeah. Poor blighter. Well, I'm off".

    Haha, that's the best bit.

And the ending, which is also CLASSIC!

  • Blighter? I don't know for certain, but I think the London Frog was telling Kermit that his bother was a bit politer, not a blighter.

  • He definitely said "poor blighter", commenting on the fact that he feels bad for his brother because he looks like Kermit.

  • Okeydoke.

  • Is that what they call a beefeater?

  • Love the guardsman's proper foot stamping ... hey isn't that Ernie in a red coat and bearskin cap?

  • Did you know that The Fog Horn here is the same Fog Horn Used in the Lefty & Boss Skits Like Lefty & The Carrots & Lefty & The Alpabet Skits.

  • Yep. It was also used in the News Flash segment about Christopher Columbus, and the Mysterious Theater skit "Dial M for Mother."

  • ha! i like the London frog's button suit!

  • It's the ending that makes this classic clip with Kermit scowling at the silliness around him and being forced to join with just as much disapproval.

  • I first saw this routine at five or six. At age twenty, just before I watched this again, I could still hear the London clog tune in my head. I remembered it almost perfectly.

  • This feels vaguely familiar. Anyone happen to know the year this particular skit orginally aired?

  • 1988.

  • Anybody notice that with the London Frog, Jerry Nelson uses the same voice he used for the weird Cockney announcer for the "Letter B" sketch with the Beetles.

  • I love Kermit's hat, and his apparent perturbation :)

  • LoL..love this..by chance u have when he interviews humpty dumpty?

  • There should have been a dog in this. That would have been good.

  • It also would have been cool if at the end, Kermit said he wanted to go check out the famous London Bog.

  • Good point.

  • Thank you so much for bringing this video back for us. I still have a good laugh at the end of this sketch! Thanks again. :)

  • Whenever I see this classic, I always picture the British version of the Inspector Gadget theme underscoring this sketch (it sounds like a cross between "Rue Brittiana," "Hail to the Chief" and the "Inspector Gadget Theme", and has chimes and flutes)
