In my 5 years of ownership the car has had no serious problems whatsoever. The most beautiful BMW!
Do you have the problem with the thermostat unit? Cause I have the same car, but diesel and it warms up very quickly, but petrol should do it even quicker. Was it very cold outside, 47F about +8C? But nice car by the way, service it on time and it will last longer.
@xsv75 BMW's are one of the most reliable car brands in the world, and only people in USA are complaining about their reliability, probably because they don't take care of the car. They don't service them at official BMW stations, they don't service them on time and overall just treat the car like it was a pick up truck. Also, fuel quality in USA up until recently was TERRIBLE, and modern engines don't like bad fuel.
@xsv75 But also, the fact is, BMW's built for US market aren't as well made as those built for European market. Same goes for all other european brands. The reason is, european cars are sold for literally 2-3 times less money in USA than in Europe, so a lot of quality checks and stuff like that is left out. Little imperfections are ignored, build quality and fit and finish is as good, but mechanically they should be the same, so no problems there if you take care of them.

@JungleListSoldier i've got the touring one, no the orange gauges arent hard on the eyes at night if you lower the "light strength" wich is located to the left of the steering wheel, behind it, next to where you turn on your lights. Anyways if u have it on the highest strenght it can get hard to drive since ur eyes fall on it easilly, but if u lower it as i said its really comfortable for the eyes, the smooth orange light is really nice to your eyes :)

@arielrodrigo1 definitely the best car BMW ever made, they will become a modern classic, the E60's styling divides opinion far too much and the ride is appalling unless you ditch the run flat tyres. Unlike a lot of modern BMWs an E39 still looks good even without the M Sport pack. The F10's steering is very poor by BMW standards (you'd nearly wonder was it a Toyota) and there are far too many 4 cylinder models in the range - if I want a BMW then I want 6 cylinders!
My dad, who lives in the states, owned one of these. He was picking up some friends from Europe at the airport and when they saw the "525i" badge they congratulated him on having one of the more powerful models! lol
@dmontego522 I hope they were joking.. lol. I think it's good how BMW lets you choose what type of car you want from the models. I bet the 525i does great with gas mileage, and it's still very comfortable with enough power when you need it. I drive a 2001 530i and it's a great mix of power and mpg. Once you get up into the 540i or M5 regions, it's not as good as a daily driver, because you'll be paying a crapload for gas.
Totally serious haha, they clearly didn't realize that in the US the 525i is actually the least powerful model because in Europe that have the 520i and all the diesel models. Still a great car though! Wish he still had it. You should keep your 530i for as long as you can, the 01-03 530i is arguably one of the best cars ever built. I feel like this was when BMW was at its best in terms of driving dynamics; too many electronic systems in the new cars
your engine has serious problem, its not warming up normally. check thermostat otherwise u can significantly damage engine, running lower temperature than it needs

@arielrodrigo1 definitely the best car BMW ever made, they will become a modern classic, the E60's styling divides opinion far too much and the ride is appalling unless you ditch the run flat tyres. Unlike a lot of modern BMWs an E39 still looks good even without the M Sport pack. The F10's steering is very poor by BMW standards (you'd nearly wonder was it a Toyota) and there are far too many 4 cylinder models in the range - if I want a BMW then I want 6 cylinders!

My dad, who lives in the states, owned one of these. He was picking up some friends from Europe at the airport and when they saw the "525i" badge they congratulated him on having one of the more powerful models! lol

@dmontego522 I hope they were joking.. lol. I think it's good how BMW lets you choose what type of car you want from the models. I bet the 525i does great with gas mileage, and it's still very comfortable with enough power when you need it. I drive a 2001 530i and it's a great mix of power and mpg. Once you get up into the 540i or M5 regions, it's not as good as a daily driver, because you'll be paying a crapload for gas.

Totally serious haha, they clearly didn't realize that in the US the 525i is actually the least powerful model because in Europe that have the 520i and all the diesel models. Still a great car though! Wish he still had it. You should keep your 530i for as long as you can, the 01-03 530i is arguably one of the best cars ever built. I feel like this was when BMW was at its best in terms of driving dynamics; too many electronic systems in the new cars

your engine has serious problem, its not warming up normally. check thermostat otherwise u can significantly damage engine, running lower temperature than it needs

@viktoryeah Not true, some cars suit an auto box far more than a manual, a manual Mercedes S-Class would seem simply wrong, an E39 5 series suits both manual and auto.
