  • The nips may have built it, but that is a piece of American heritage, and always will be.

  • ケニー!!!!

  • is it liquid cooled

  • WOW, imagine the power band on that

  • Apparently hearing the beautiful sound of these machines isn't important to the videographer. Will someone please crank the 500 so we can listen to it's wonder engine. Thank you.

  • Was Ariel the first to use twin cranks?

  • Thank you for posting this video of this historical machine - a truly awesome bike that given it's performance and tyre technology of the day would be enough to send a very large percentage of our top riders to a shrink (and A+E) They really don't know how straightforward their life on the edge is compared to those guys riding these - especially the 83 version!

I realise these being 680cc were not technically GP racers but the GP racers rode these and similar machines at Daytona once a year.

  • WONDERFUL !!!

  • i love two strokes..........this is a baaad assssssssss......

  • Awsome, I'll trade you a half box of cracker jacks and my pocket knife for it......that is the bike-------DUDE.

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Great bike man, really! You deserve a prize for it.... Yamaha ruuules!

  • Nice bikes.

  • That is one mean bike.

  • YZR680!!

    当時GP500マシンが300キロ出なかった中、このバイクは実測で300キロ出たみたいですね。

    しかもフレディースペンサーが乗るNS500とのバトルも良かったです(これは84年か?)。

    デイトナスペシャル、カッコ良いです。

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • And you did not even start it. What a tease.

  • Id put that in my living room, no need for a TV...

  • @adamramoth True that man, I would keep that in my living room in a glass shroud so my kids didn't get finger prints on it.

  • Is there anybody the can tell my the colornumber for this yellow, it is zo beatifull

    Already thanks

  • There is nothing more badass than a twin crank yamaha 2 stroke in the Yamaha bumblebee yelllow colors. Gorgeous.

  • bloomin outstanding!!!!!!!

  • Now thats a PROPER racing bike, even the King had to change his underwear every time he rode it!

  • The American Yamaha colours are beautiful....

  • youd better put it up before it gets dirty..

  • I remember these 680cc monsters were the first to break 200mph at Daytona.

The OW69 was an over-bored version of the Square-Four 500cc OW62. And, it was virtually unridable anywhere except on the big banks of Daytona, for which it was solely built.

I wish Tamiya would make a model of this...

Aaah, the smell of Castrol R in the morning... Smells like... VICTORY.

On the greatest bike in the world (other than it's 500cc predecessor.

  • These things would flex the frame a 1/4" off center line. thats one wicked ride. I remember them saying something about making the frames to rigid, made the bikes under steer. So you had to back it into the corner, to make it track right.

I miss the smell of castor twoe stroke oil. smells like honey!

  • Translation to English....literal:

In one for load rider 2009.2 month number special edition [kenirobatsu] The Legend of Kenny Roberts it collected materials. Square 4 engine of [deitona] 200 victory car Yamaha chrysalis of 1983 YAMAHA YZR680 OW69 [kenirobatsushinia]. At Yamaha community center.

  • Oh yes I remember reading about King Kenny telling his mechanics to back the timing off to reduce wheel spin....wonderful, anyone got any footage?

  • I saw these 680's being raced at Donington park around '84 in the transatlantic series by Kenny and Eddie, I think it was both Kenny and Sheene's last UK ride. Spencer got carted off to hospital after a crash at Redgate, Gardner laid black lines all the way round the track and Crosby spent the whole meeting on the rear wheel of a Yoshi Kawa, one of life's memorable and wonderful days.

  • who stole these bikes from kr?

  • I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE!!! They're beautiful.

  • This appears to be Kenny's 1983 Daytona 200 winning ride. Based on the 500 V-4 but of increased displacement for this special race. Eddie Lawson finished second on a "sister" of this one.

  • Not a V4, it's a square four like the Suzuki RG500 and XR series race engines.

Apparently it was detuned so KR could ride it. Even detuned it was weelspinning right around the banking at Daytona and half way up the straight.

The most potent wepon ever built by Yamaha.

    AWSOME ! ! ! !

  • @karmasailor TZ 750 is an inline 4.

  • @Renceau It's not a TZ...

  • Bellissima :-)

  • Wonderful Bikes!
