  • I found little jobs around this small town, and manage to make enough to enjoy life AND enjoy making people happy.

  • Fix the people, fix the planet. Just keep sharing your thoughts and your stories. They have value. And people are obviously listening.

    =)

  • god you're gorgeous here!

  • UR SOUL SEARCHING. Stop and think what is missing? You are on a wonderful path but u already have what u need within. Don't let things be so confusing.

  • I feel connected to you. your words, the music you like.

I've been there and I have been elsewhere too.

    I believe I can help.

  • Yeah Decky11, we can start some type of rock band and the money we get we can help the poor people in Africa, South America or even Burma? I like to play the bass and maybe you can play the acoustic guitar. We can play different style of Rock music yeah? 8

  • YOU ROCK!

    Yeah.........................Cheers!

  • practice . "right" ? lol

  • Your life is meaningless like a glow stick.

  • If you are in BC and you are enthusiastic about environmental issues, here is an idea. Learn to weave. I know it sounds silly, but wait. Weave potted plant holders. Something that you can put a small clay pot into. Fill the pot with good soil, a few pretty stones and perhaps plant some wild strawberries, medicine plants or herbs in it. You could probably sell it for $15-20 at a farmer's market. Basically you just need to cover the cost of the clay pot and your labour. And you may have fun.

  • you r not your job. the way u live is not different from what u like to do. a distinction helped me - working and earning money don't have to be the same. do your life. sometimes ask money for things if u need and if it's the right place. wiki simple living.

must add - your video was very touching for me. spatially when u told about the yoga. i saw there joy and self compassion.

    good life

  • People who live really meaningful life are very few. In fact, I believe this is a very recent idea (utopia) in history... to live a meaningful life. Society could not function if everybody would not settle but with living a meaningful life. Ugly, unpleasant, tedious jobs make society function and somebody has to do them. Happiness is for gods, not for men.

  • gay.

  • You have a kind heart, but you have a tortured soul. You care. You care too much as I do. It is noble of you to live off the land (sustainable agriculture, etc.), but it is also naive. I'm not trying to be mean here. You don't have to isolate yourelf to be "earth friendly". You can achieve all your ideas, goals living in a city. There are many options for you. What is your email?

  • So what, its all a bunch of emotions you can't control and words imprison you thats life.Take a trip to Africa or India see what suffering actually is.

  • What happened to your plan to buy a coffee place with your friends?

  • Opps, sorry about the similar posts. Youtube has gone crazy again, making me think the post has failed. I can't delete the 1st one either.

  • It seems your just not ready to commit yet. Feeling sad is quicksand; it stops you doing things and making decisions. An Earth nurturing job sounds like Horticulture but it may not pay well, but money isn't the only currency. Maybe get a degree in one of the earth sciences. Don't worry about the size of the mountain, once you start climbing, you won't see it.

  • It seems your just not ready to comit yet. Feeling sad is like quicksand; it stops you doing things and making decisions. Most people don't know their ideal job, so they mull over it and end up doing nothing. Maybe you want to go back into education. Truth is, there are a 100's of careers that, all else being equal, can make you satisfied. Don't worry about the size of the mountain, once you start climbing, you won't see it.

  • hawii ?? Come to Texas, we dont have enough smart young ladies.

  • Hope you find something that makes you smile cuz when you do you're about the most beautiful girl in the world!!!

  • Hi. Have you ever tried painting? Its the greatest thing for people like us... I bet people will love what ever colors and shapes etc you paint. Because you see the beauty...your paintings will be beautiful..I know this... It could bring about the transformation you are seeking :) Also- find some videos on Youtube about a guy named Ram Daas- Fierce Grace- You will love his story and his soul. You are not alone.

  • You are not unlike many, or most people on this earth. The one difference being that you aren't willing to live inside the confines of what's expected of you. It's people like you that do the big and important things that really matter. Until you decide on a path for your life, and are committed and passionate about it , you will have to endure. Just know that when you do find it, it will be a difficult road to travel, and you'll have to start from the beginning.

  • You keep to your self girl. The dreams you want are out there. However Please be carefull of all the losers who want to Suck you dry.. These Dreams are special. I hold these vids so Special to me.

  • Hey Little Sister, I love you girl and support you on your path! No one can tell you what you should be doing......although Mother Culture tries. she is a bitch....ignore her! The answers are within you. When you find something that resonates with your being and your soul.......you will feel it. We can give you inspiration in figuring out what that is......but ultimately we must all look within to know what is right for our beings! Love you! ♥

  • Hay babe dont" sell yourself short .You have to stand up. Gather your streanth. Please find this truth. Money is nothing But lies. The blinded dreams. of those who follow of the fallow feild of dreans of the begotten gods of greed the seed they sow is indeed a filed of sorrow

  • yo decky. ya want money that can help people? try Brookshires. its a currency that some rural towns are using to help stimulate the economy.

  • "have you ever been in love with someone that you can't be with, because it doesn't make sense".

Nope, can't say I have. Now I have desperately wanted 20 or 30 women over the years and I have been truly in love with 2 or 3 of them, They all rejected me because I wasn't attractive or macho enough for them. My pain at those times were probably greater than what you were experiencing at the time of this video, because I was alone against my will and I had the added twist of being rejected.

  • 2. I coped by deciding that love is pointless and short lived (generally ending in divorce). I endured the lonely years and with each messy divorce I witnessed I became more glad of my choice.

Anyway I have a very relaxed life, excellent friends, and a career that I could raise a family on (with only my income) if I wanted to. I just dumped it into the mortgage and it'll be paid off by November. Once that happens I'll still have 4000 a month income but my expenses will drop to about 1000. NICE!

  • 3. I suppose everyone has something to be envied in their life. "The grass is always greener" they say. Since I'm a geek I envy you for your physical beauty. I imagine my life would have been quite different if I were an attractive guy. I was so lonely, For so long, (longer than you've been alive). It sucked.

Still, it turned out ok. At least I have a good, high paying, stable career that I actually enjoy. Some people who are as lonely as I was don't even have a career to console themselves with

  • hehe, at least you can make funny faces. That's the most important thing on earth, isn't it?

  • Man your wrong I dint know if there if llve is there for you. Maybe you have to find this. You Have to find this truth on your own

  • I am of that person.Iv stood by off so long and have done nothing..The weakest Part of off us is the weakest part of us all

  • lol marry a rich guy

  • I posted a video (actually a song). I don't know if it will help you feel better about things. It may even make you feel worse. But one good thing is: if you don't like it, think of how much better you'll feel when it's over. I hope that's not the ultimate answer to life (how much better you feel when it's over). Anyway, the video will be up there in "video responses" (unless I find a way to screw it up).

  • heard of systhymia?

  • This girl I was close to had a boyfriend who was abusive to her and she would confide her emotions in me. After awhile they broke up and we started seeing eachother, after which we fell deeply in love.

However, not long after her boyfriend returned with empty apologies and although she knew his words were empty she went with him because he had her virginity and she wanted things to work out between them.

Nothing about our romantic fling made sense...love makes no sense...life makes no sense

  • i feel like that a lot.

i think thats why ,im so isolated.

i wanted to be with a girl.

but i cant picture myself in a relationship. i dont reconise my friends no more.

they all are married and acting so adult.

sometimes i feel like a 18 year old trapped in a body that is getting older.

and im drifting away from everyone.

i think thats why i smoke so much weed.

  • I can really sympathize with you, in fact I feel like I'll be in your position in ten to fifteen years.

I've never had a girlfriend when all my friends have, not that I NEED one, it's just that I feel I'm not progressing in life the way I should be. Like I feel as if years from now I'll be in the same position as I am now.

My only advice to you is to find some means of living or purpose. The first step is finding purpose in the world.

  • I am inspired by the many positive things that most of the winners of the Right Livelihood Award are doing. The ideas and lives of people like Albert Einstein and Rumi are also inspiring to me.

  • Im not sure what you mean by being in love with someone (but) it doesnt make sense. I dont think love is always supposed to make sense. Love isnt rational, which is one reason why its beautiful. Love can also be dangerous. That love can be dangerous is also beautiful.

  • Beautiful music :-)

  • I think flying somewhere to look for sustainability is a contradiction. Isn't flying the biggest single act one can choose to increase their 'footprint' on the planet? I think the people that do find alternative means of income, all have a pretty high level of passion for what they're doing. Like 'axel1million' said, dive into a subject you believe in, even if it's only on the weekends for now. The more involved in a specific subject you become, the more specialized you become, then the $...

  • Yes it is a contradiction I suppose. It is nice to see other places but it is at the expense of the environment. It's a paradox. I would like to see Hawaii one way or another.

Thanks for your input. I do have to focus on one thing... I have so many ideas that I never do any of them because I don't know which one to commit to.

  • Wanna come to Los Angeles?

  • Yea, to see how crazy it is?

  • No, to hang out with hot guy who's super cool. ;)

And see how crazy that is.

  • "a" hot guy.

My english is fone. I mean fine. lol

LA is the eco capital of the metropolitan usa. Everybody is part hippy here. Besides I know farmers up north.

  • If it facilitated a lifetime spent with minimal or even positive environmental impact, as well as your own personal fulfillment and well being then I think it would be a fair compromise. You could always build or buy a boat and sail there. I know it sounds cliche but anything is possible if you can dream it.

  • @Decky11 That plane is flying with or without you. You not jumping on a plane will make no difference i'm afraid.

  • add me on facebook---- DeeJay Addendum

  • Not stuck- you're having a BREAK THROUGH of perception and self honesty, and you have the urge to act on it.

You don't need inspiration from us... heading to Hawaii to look at sustainable living sounds pretty darn inspired to me. The only thing stopping you is you. Go send some emails- find ppl down there- go network- save up a plane ticket and GO. You're not going to lose anything- that office job or ones like it will be here to come back to (but i doubt you'll need it!) Thats your 1st step!

  • Find like minded people, and they will no doubt teach you things and show you things that will lead to the next stage... I wish you well! :-) x

  • people become 9 to 5 office robots because the cost of living is always rising. I am barely able to afford my apartment and bus fare and I still need money for food and college tuition its crazy. I wish I could be a free spirit but thats just not realistic in todays world.

  • Why did you leave the cob house? What did you like and dislike about it, honestly?

  • A response video is posted on my account.

(hasn't featured under "video responses" yet)

  • Watch the movie Peaceful Warrior. It might give you inspiration. Take care

  • Try to change things locally if you want to help people, think small & work from there. I ran across something in the news the other day that might be your cup of tea.

A guy took an old bus & started using it to transport organic produce to poor areas that normally don't have access to fresh fruits/vegs. He made money from it & was doing a good thing in bringing healthy organic foods to those who normally don't eat them..

If you want more info send me a pm & I'll give you the details.

  • Nice to see you again :)

As for career advice... I haven't got much to offer, and I kinda feel the same way as you at times. If you like the area you live in now I guess the best thing to do is see what other like-minded people are doing for a living. Maybe join an activist organization fighting for something you believe in?

  • story of my life

  • I hear you. You know what to do.

  • Don't learn to live with it. You can do anything you want, you can start at any time. You can start in your 20s, your 30s, or your 90s. Sitting at a desk 40 hours a week sucks, that's why desk jobs pay well...because they're paying you to do something that you wouldn't do otherwise!! To transform, we need a massive unlearning of culture, and critical readers/speakers when it comes to cultural matters, there is nothing fru-fru about being discerning about ideals even if majority culture disag

  • A PS on my last post... This is a hell of a good video. (nicely done.)

  • Hey, Al. Great to see a new vid from you! I like the choice of music for this video.

There are a lot of times when I wish I could be out there in the world doing more, but I find that I either lack the time or don't have the exact opportunities to do the things I want to do.

Do what you feel most happiest doing. Like, do you do any artwork that you find enjoyable? Maybe you could make posters that had to do with the environment?

  • Hi Al

I have all the answers, but unfortunately, my answers only work for me.

Be that as it may... if I was going to lecture you, it would go something like this

Do what makes you happiest. (Not what you think others think you should do.) You can change your mind about anything at any time. Whatever way you feel is the right way to feel.

And above all, remember... Youtube has a maximum character limit on posts like this one.

  • Visit and talk with Ram Dass in Maui

  • luv the music

  • Don't mess about too much trying to find the 'perfect' thing to do.

Decide on one thing, and then give it 100%.

Throw yourself into it body and mind.

    For example:

If you like farming, then find out everything you can about the different soils, plants, animals, weather patterns, etc. Buy some land, farm, write articles about it, make youtube videos on harvesting, etc.

  • I luv your youthful hippy cravings...You'll be a yuppie money making machine by the time you reach your mid 30's

  • you've got mail :-)

  • " A true Warrior does not give up on what he loves...He finds love in what he does"...-quote from "The Peaceful Warrior"

remember that, hope it helps...and also remeber that we all feel that way sometimes but the key is never giving up.

  • Search youtube for "carl sagan blue dot",always gives me some perspective.

As for your current situation, nobody like the daily grind, some learn to live with it and just get on with things, some choose a diffrent path.

But only you really know what you want to do,theres plenty of ways to make money in pretty much every field, you just gotta find where your most comfatable.

  • Hi AL, I sent you something of a long-winded response to your Inbox. Keep your chin up and :-)

  • a troll is something to be

  • I feel like this all the time Al...hang in there

  • Be good at something you love, and make a lot of money doing it. That's my take on it.

  • Hi Al. What are you doing now to get by?

  • hey Al, first comment ever! just for you my old friend, so a couple things, i think you said something great that you may not have heard in yourself, and thats exploring these communities to see if they are viable, one could get grant from our government to make a video series about this, maybe it is your path to share the things you find with others, also madame remember i used to live on maui, and have a dear friend there that would likely put you up. MSG a # we should have a chat :)

  • Your idea of starting an intentional community sound great. Maybe think about what you love to do and find a way to survive with that, find out how it can be a reality. Be patient.

  • I've been thinking about saving up money and moving to a Latin American country where my money goes farther for a few months and just resting and writing.

    Are you on Twitter?

  • come to argentina, everything will be so cheap and funny for you (for a few weeks only)

  • no idea, i'm constantly turing tar-pitting myself...

  • It's nearly impossibe to escape western civilization these days without moving to a 3rd world country. Hawaii is a great escape but is still fueled by the same business economy in the long haul. It sounds like you are on the right track/ have the right idea by surrounding yourself with people that think similar to you. I'm your age and am in the same spot trying to figure things out too. As well as being a little love sick we've all been there before. Great vid reminds me alot of the older ones.

  • I am in love with someone and this time it isn't only you. peace sister

  • I know the feeling. At your age I was totally lost as well. I was completely depressed & on the edge of suicide most of the time (of course I was in the army so that explains a lot of it). At age 25 however I got my inspiration and my mission in life. I was a Mechanic! As soon as I got out of the army everything fell into place. I never found love but at least I'm happy and make 33 bucks an hour.

You still have time to find your inspiration. Till then Keep pushin on

    watch?v=5xiB17zx7bQ&fmt=18

  • Yeah I basically feel the same way. Have been for years. Since, or even before my dad died. When he got sick. Now, my mom is sick. And nothing is obtainable.

Meeting, and clicking with people is probably the best thing possible. Though, I'm not sure how to do that anymore, or if I ever learned how to do so.

Three movies give me inspiration: Into The Wild, Grizzly Man, Shawshank Redemption. Richard Proenneke on wikipedia, and some of his written notes. Want to watch his movies too.

  • I don't think you can really make a lot of money being nice to people and animals and the environment - maybe a little here and there, but capitalism and being good seem to be rather opposing forces in the long run. But if you think of a good business model, please share it.

  • I have this problem too. I seem to be stuck. I think about the future, then I try to go there, but I only end up in the present. I try to go somewhere, but everywhere I go just ends up being another here. But I think things would have been worse if I hadn't even tried.

  • We do need to learn and practice sustainable argiculture to feed those that are not fed and we need to purify water for the process, and we need to share what is in our minds and unify together to minimize suffering and promote comfortability and succession of life for all things. The way I see it were so seperated and we cannot get to fixing the big picture without coming together with common goals and desires. Your not alone in your feelings and soon we will come together, research good foods.

  • Become an environmental lobbyist.

    Become an green energy consultant.

    Become a geothermal specialist.

Become a green public relations expert.

    Become a green economist.

Become something that isn't here yet.

  • start a farm via yardsharing farm the burbs!

  • Yes... Or start an Urban Vertical farm. With steady population growth, we are going to need to master this if we want to keep our open land and forests. Plus we need to master vertical farms here before we can move them to space. (BTW: there are investors that will fund this type of venture if you can show that you are capable.)

  • I'm a grown man and have a strong desire to wing it and go "Into The Wild", as it were. I shirk materialism, always have. But I don't think many people understand my mentality.

  • hawaii sounds gr8... u should totally do it! :D

  • Hey did you put in 2 be a YouTube partner yet?? If not you need 2! With your view numbers you would make about $250-300.00 a month...

  • ★★★★★

  • Maybe you could be a traveling saleswoman for an environmental product.

That way you wouldn't be an office all day, and you could use your good looks and help the environment.

  • *sigh.... you describe my current feelings perfectly.. i wish i knew you in person., its refreshing to hear you speak. I wish I could help you. I wish I could just talk to you, I think that would help, but I am in the same predicament. All I know how to do is take pictures.. of the world I see around me, and I go back to that when I need to be inspired. Sometimes when so much changes around us it is easy to lose sight of how we got to the place we are stuck in. Try to reflect and rethink.
