I hope the Tiger makes a better appearance June 30, 2012. I just got my tickets for the Tankefest 10th Anniversary. Sadly, the Tiger at the Munster Panzer Museum was MIA last month . . .
I was just on the other side of the fence at the start there. I thought there was an excellent range of things in action, from the Holt tractor to the Titan AVLB, and given the cost of fuel and everything imagine how much it must all cost to put on; but yes, I'm not sure whether the new arena is an improvement.
Good Job Lewran! I only made it on the Saturday this year. Only found out when the online program came out that the tiger was Sunday only. I have the PZ3 from saturday and the rest.
I was very disapointed with it all, thought last year was much better photo wise. Drove 30 miles to get there, 15 quid to get in and got 30 seconds of the tiger on the other side of a field! I suppose they are protecting their investment but we didnt even get a turret rotate..
well its funny you should think that. I had 7 friends invited from Germany, thinking the Tiger would be out both days. £ weeks before the event, program states Tiger is Sunday only. On the Sat I think they started late, the mock battle was 30 mins late. So yeah, you are right, wasn't nearly as good as last year.
I had a 'complain' to my brother in law about the area bit. He said most of the museum staff dont like the new layout, corners, especially the one infront of the new bank by the museum, are very tight, so it is hard for the old tanks to go around at any speed. Aparently there is also a ditch in front of that particular wall which is there to protect the crowd but also makes it very dangerous for the tank crews if they make a mistake. mind you the army just drove around like nutters he said.
Lewran... Yes it is true most of the museum staff don't like the new layout (in museum staff I mean the one's who HAVE to drive this arena, not the ones who sit in the offices all day). I drove it on the saturday in a vehicle smaller than an MBT, I found it a better drive than the old running track but some of the corners are causing the brakes on such vehicles as chieftain to start burning their brakes out (not a good idea with 50-70 tons unable to stop!) Also the ditch IS a serious worry
