That is a superb old tree. I'm based in dorset. I've found on my travels, although none as 'fat' as this one. I'm very keen on getting involved more and to record the trees that I know of. How do I go about doing this and how do I know that these trees are of interest? Also is there a guide to estimating the age of an oak tree from its girth? Also only today I found the largest beech tree I've ever seen among modern housing in the town of Blandford.
I'm a fellow enthusiastic tree-recorder for the A.T.H. Just wondering if it has been recognised as one huge oak by the experts, or is it two trees with fused stems that then hollowed ?
If a question then yes I did on that day. But did not edit it in the film. I was on the phone to woodland trust telling them in a slightly excited tone of voice how cool this tree was/is. Thanks for comment anyway. Hope you liked the film.
Well I am glad you likeed it. I had to edit some of it out as I got too excited (a few swear words but nothing too bad) anyway watch this space if you are into trees as next week 25th June 2007 is the re-launch of the ancient tree hunt. Why don't you join in and get all your mates to aswell. visit ancient-trr-hunt dot org dot uk Also watch the main man my gure Ted Green on the woodlandtrust channel. Now he is FANTASTIC.
