  • one question does anyone know how he does those crazy rolls? i've heard its triple tounging but... not sure it is...

  • FYI - This video is from a teaching tutorial called Mad for Trad CD-ROM - Tin Whistle Tutorial taught by Brian Finnegan.

  • Thats a cool version o:

  • I will be looking out for you in the future Brian..! Give us more!

  • Its like Sean Ryans Style

  • In my opinion this guy is one of the few whistle players you can hear without any other instrument... have a look at his compositions... man... bloody inspiering that is! GO BRIANN!

  • bravo!

  • I think his playing here is from a tutorial CD, so it's understandable that it's fairly straightforward and almost boring.

If you listen to him playing with Flook, it's a lot better.

  • JSC,

I've had a Flook CD. I think it was called "Haven." I just think that flook sounds very mechanical and that bodhran player is like a drum machine. They are no doubt very "skilled" musicians, but they just don't play irish music. It's like comparing "modern smooth jazz" to a miles davis quintet album.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. Personal taste, I guess.

  • True.

  • While looking through videos, I came back to this one... I'm not sure why your comment was rated at -6 >_>...

Coming back real quick, if you ever get the chance, listen a bit to Flook's "Flatfish" album. Haven is nice, but Flatfish has a more ad-lib atmosphere. It is still quite far from Irish music, though... Quite contemporary.

  • TEACH US BRIANNN!!!!!!

  • He's great at the ould whistle, Flook are amazing!

  • Hmm.. maybe someone know and could tell, how old is Brian? ;)

  • Now I think he's in his mid-30's... My guess is 34.

  • @moniqueemm 41, according to facebook!

  • which type of whistle uses brian? Is that a chieftain?

  • He primarily uses Overton whistles which, I believe, is what he's using there. Though, on occasion, he does use Kerry whistles.

  • his whislte are goldie whistles

  • He uses a whistle made by Colin Goldie.

  • i hope that one day i'll be able to play like him...

  • clearly playing! very nice

  • wow, only three breathtake
