It is not possible to say who created our language because it evolved and transformed over the years. When we codified it in 1945, we basically took the existing dialect here, if that is helpful.

Old Church Slavonic, which the brothers spread to Moravia, was allegedly based upon the Slavic dialects the brothers encountered in and around Thessaloniki. I don't know if it was Bulgarian, it might not be a good question since nothing was codified then. We had our own Church Slavonic dialect (based in Ohrid), and this dialect, although obviously undergoing a lot of change, did influence later Macedonian dialects.

Almost all of northern Greek Macedonia was Slavic, even Pella, where some of our national heroes were born (Krste Misirkov). It is not possible to say who created our language because it evolved and transformed over the years. When we codified it in 1945, we basically took the existing dialect here, if that is helpful.

Old Church Slavonic, which the brothers spread to Moravia, was allegedly based upon the Slavic dialects the brothers encountered in and around Thessaloniki. I don't know if it was Bulgarian, it might not be a good question since nothing was codified then. We had our own Church Slavonic dialect (based in Ohrid), and this dialect, although obviously undergoing a lot of change, did influence later Macedonian dialects.

I don't care much about the ancients.. we are modern Macedonians, you and I.

I will tell you, the original ideal of VMRO was for a United Macedonia, from Thessaloniki to Skopje. Almost all of northern Greek Macedonia was Slavic, even Pella, where some of our national heroes were born (Krste Misirkov).
