Don't forget though the PLO was throwing their weight around HIS country, and as bad as King Hussein was, the PLO leadership wasn't much better. They also caused endless turmoil in Lebanon with the help of Syria. I'm not sure if Israel should take the blunt of all the Palestinian's problems, most of whom, BTW, never lived in Palestine. actually numbers are not the key to unravelling the conflict. The israelis have better guns, and the arabs hide behind children (obviously not ALL the time, but don't deny it). The arabs prosper from civilian casaulties as it gets them media support (hence hezbullah parking rockets on schools)The real key is the solution: end terrorism and walk to the table

actually i don't really like olmert. I am getting that view from a host of things. Dozens of different news sources. Videos i have seen of the violence, and other video's taken in schools where they teach children to hate jews and endanger themselves in the conflict. The image of "hiding behind children" is perhaps a distorted one.. sending children out to fight, or even allowing them to do so counts as the same. (Also the germans were the aggressors in WW2, yet they lost more lives)

The israeli's, in my opinion, should abandon their settlemtns as they did in gaza (no mean feat of course) and say "here is some land, it is your state, we will negotiate again a few years" at least then the borders etc would be clearly defined.

Once Israel is no longer threatened by terrorists and arab states i hope a 2 state solution accepted by all will be possible. In the current situtaion however it is IMPOSSIBLE, as the arabs are not willing to make any concessions for peace.

Please bare in mind that the British were actually against creating a jewish state since they wanted arab oil. Thats why they created trans-jordan and barred jewish refugees from moving there.
