uh....he's exactly right, Allen just about wrecked the whole thing, and if he hadn't had the good fortune of singing an extra "wall's of Zion" it would have run off the rails....still he sounds good to me, its the right spirit, though William Warfield's version with Uncle Aaron at the podium is the real shizzzz
@dravidwake hahaha. you obviously haven't looked at my profile. i know a LITTLE bit. the REAL question is: do you? if you know this song, you'll know that Mr. Allen made a severe rythmic error about three measures in and it threw him off for about 5 measures. not to mention how fatigued his voice sounds. like i said, ATROCIOUS!
@allstatebass Well you say God has given you a gift for singing. You obviously think you are God's gift to singing. A pity God hasn't given you a bit more humility with it. I know a bit too but don't flaunt it.
@allstatebass It was such a severe error, that this one error undid all the accomplishments of a long and distinguished career, in which he has done more things well than almost could be believed. Sir Thomas was sent directly to hell, and moreover, the world actually came to an end on November 10, 2001.
@drtmuir Me saying that this particular performance is atrocious, in normal minds, should not undermine the entire career of one of the most popular classical vocalists of our time. But, appearently, in some of your minds, it does. I have a great deal of respect for Thomas Allen, which is why I was so harsh with my comment. If I, as a college student studying voice, have to learn all of my pitches and rhythms correctly, so should Thomas Allen.
wow...... this guy just could not get a clue.....
