  • That's not a TB1. Gibson used the "TB" title for tenor banjos. That doesn't include any of the long-necks. All pre-war Gibson 5-strings had an "RB" prefix.. Pedantic, I know, but if you're going to major on banjo facts GET IT RIGHT

    Yep...pedantic and more than a little acerbic. I wouldn't presume to speak for the gentleman in the clip, but my guess is that he knows very well what he has and is doing the *correct* thing by identifying his banjo as a conversion. By listing it as a TB-1, he's letting everyone know that it is not an original RB-1 and has in fact been converted from a 4 string tenor banjo to a 5 string "regular" banjo. Great playing by the way and a fine sounding banjo.
