Literally hadn't heard this song in ages and I caught myself playing this through my head today, for no reason. It's a song that gets you right "here!"
This album came around the same year as Madonna's "Like a Virgin." That Madonna album may have sold millions more copies than the Orion album, but Orion really sounds cooler than Britney and Beyonce.
Gotta agree with jakejasonjay's comment. Boston has always been my favorite.
My friend gifted me with Orion the Hunter on Vinyl a few years back. I'm ashamed to say that I still don't have this in digital format. All of these guys (and girl, Kimberly) certainly love what they do - and do it best. No, I am not selling my vinyl... sorry!
@luciencubano It's been in my collection for ages, though for me, RTZ's album is better, and even Walk On I prefer, not that this is bad, the melodies are tighter on the other albums I think
@MetallicBill Firmly attached to my head, thanks very much. I'm afraid you're clearly in the minority among die-hard AOR/melodic rock/pomp rock enthusiasts believing RTZ are superior. Orion is a veritable classic. Even Boston's 'Walk On' can't hold a candle to it (let alone 'Corporate America').
@MetallicBill There's no accounting for taste. Personally, I get bored with both RTZ CDs quickly whereas Orion to me is one of those albums that are few and far between. Other faves of mine being a.o. 'So Fired Up' by Le Roux, 'Images Of Forever' by Cannata, 'Silent Scream' by Shooting Star and self-titled albums by Sheriff, Alliance, Fortune, RPM, S.p.y.s., Touch, White Sister and Prophet. But like Patrick Swayze said in 'Road House': opinions vary. Nothing to get bent out of shape over. :o)
@troynew2006 Most of those bands I doubt get any airplay even though you probably classify them as AOR?! I dunno, but it's part of the BOSTON legacy, and people need to hear it, it's that simple
It featured former Boston members Barry Goudreau on guitars and Brad Delp on backing vocals, as well as future Boston lead vocalist Fran Cosmo. Orion released the album The Hunter in 1984 on Columbia Records, which yielded a hit single "So You Ran," featuring the sky-high vocals which prompted Cosmo's entrance to Boston in the early 90s.
Sounds like brad delp pn vocals

I read that this was more or less Barry Goudreau's second solo record (featuring some of his friends) but with a different name.
It's a pretty cool song.

Actually the a capella intro is present on the Razor & Tie CD version. It's just at the end of track one, All Those Years ;-)
Track one lasts for 4'50'' instead of 4'38'' and So You Ran begins at 4'42''.

This is a great song but to cut the acapella intro is a sin.

@MetallicBill The only RTZ song that is on a par with the level of artistry displayed on Orion The Hunter is 'When You Love Someone'.

@troynew2006 A big diff of opinion there. RTZ is good stuff man! Where are your ears?!?

i do think boston had contract issuses with cbs for a number of albums and changed name to orion, just like prince did to his name to a sign

This definitely wasn't Brad Delp. This was Fran Cosmo who sang for Boston following Orion the Hunter.

I had the privilege of seeing Brad Delp (RTZ) perform in a small bar called the Juke Box back in the early 90's. Front Row. Man that guy had a voice!
