  • A thoroughly first class shave, attention to detail is unrivalled in Lincoln as is the relaxing hot towel experience, Totally changed the way i shave thanks to my visit on new years eve 2011,

so impressed i bought a pal a voucher so he too may experience this excellent service, i will be visiting Ian again soon..you have to try it to believe it..!!!!!

  • @bearclawsrock E45 is a facial cream by dermatology u can find it at certain stores, online and varies bueaty shops it helps clense the face and keep the skin smooth amoung other uses to ur facial skin

  • I have tried wet shaving in the past but electric razors suit my skin a lot better. :S

  • Does anyone know what 'E45" cream is?

  • @bearclawsrock Cream used for moisturising dry skin.

  • @sausag3onthefloor I understand that, but I've never heard about E45 before, I just want to know if anyone has any information on that specific product

  • @bearclawsrock It didn't have a label on it from my point of view. Maybe it's one of their brands over there in the U.K. You could just go to a drug store and buy regular aloe vera for less than $2, that does the same damn job for a HELL of a lot cheaper.

  • the real fail of the video? he's using a mac

  • Tremendous shave! M3 is a fine shaving instrument and let's be honest, it gives a shave that is as close or better than other razors, even an over priced straight of which I have a few, though they are very cool. I actually bought the fat black Truefitt and Hill M3 shown in the shop in one shot. Very nice! -but over priced. lol* The prep is the key and this barber knows his stuff. If I could, I would travel the thousands of kilometres to enjoy a shave and a beer in this man's shop. Great video!

  • Disappointed, no straight edge. As for the people who say that the striaght edge gives sores and ingrowns your wrong, that's caused when multiple blades go over your face at once and tug and pull on your hair causing them to irritate. A real barber will use a straight especially when he has all those good products

  • Whenever I find myself in Lincolnshire, I shall find my way to Scullion!

  • Barber using a mach3... fail.

  • this is the best shave you can get not gillette

  • Comment removed

  • whats the point of the "slap" in the sting and slap?

  • @Sushiboxvideos

Probably just to invigorate the face.

  • Bodacious! Love these mellow shaving videos! So cool and relaxing to watch!

  • Maybe he does not use a straight blade because he is interested in giving his customers the best shave possible? No serious man of culture and tradition ever said the former produced a better shave then a modern Merkur or cartridge razor. On another note does anyone know of any other videos featuring this exemplary barber?

  • Sink is dirty and PLUS its the UK.

  • @kduideo stfu bout uk

  • It may be that he's not allowed to use one. Health & Safety standards maybe different in Lincolnshire from other places. We don't know why a Mach 3 was used. Maybe he prefers it. Still a great video.

  • You go to a barber to get a cartridge razor shave? What's the point?

  • Comment removed

  • horse heads...there is nothing there to shave

  • I was going to say awesome barbershop, awesome barber just before seeing the cartridge shit.

  • @VatsimSky WHY YOU DONT USE A STRAIGHT RAZOR BLADE?!

  • The beer looked as if had beed drunk from...

  • Informative video, but a lot of details are unanswered.

How long do you leave the towels on for?

    What skin cleanser is used?

What kind of aftershave/oil is used?

Why use a straight razor over a modern one?

    etc.

  • @Medowin You leave the hot towel on for at 3 minutes or until it loses it's heat. The skin cleanser looked like it was just a pad. He was using Truefitt & Hill's products all throughout the video. The one he was using looked like sandalwood or extract of limes. The pre-shave oil was also made by Truefitt & Hill...it's really expensive, but some say it's worth it. The straight razor part I can't answer, who the hell knows why he didn't use a straight razor. He had it laying there on his stand.

  • a mach 3 ????? that is not a cut throat shave? any one can do that with a safety razor? no offense but this is not a barber shave? i think you should get a feather blade cut throat 9.99 changeable blades easy to use and it gives that wow effect.

  • Sometimes I wish I wasn't a girl, but rather a man with tons of facial hair just so I could go to this barber shop ;D

  • I wish I was a man with tons of facial hair just so I could go to this man and get my faced shaved ;d

  • excellent video!

  • I would absolutely kill to have a barber as high quality as Mr. Scullion in my hometown. This is a great video that shows the incredible skills of a caring barber. We have NOTHING like this in the states. Well done Mr. Scullion!

  • Why you dont use a razor blade?

  • Close your eyes, close your mouth, cross your legs, and brace yourself... what do you even say to that?

  • I have to agree with honeypower on this one; a Mach-3 ?!...... The fellow could have saved a lot a money if he had just paid a friend, GF, mother or anyone to do the shave if all he wanted was to have someone shave him.

  • He went to a barber to have a shave with a Mach 3?

  • Sting and Slap!

  • I want one of those good old fashion Sting and Slap on my genetails from my mate!

  • did any one know what is that beer brand?

  • @blackmore10000 Stella Artois

  • I never get beer and a kiss from my barber. SOB

  • Next time im in Lincoln im going!

  • Agh, use a straight razooooor.

  • Complaining about a dirty sink? Jesus Christ, it's a barber shop, the sink is used all the time for all sorts of things.... he's not dumping urine in it or something. The shave looks awesome and professionally done. I would gladly pay for a shave from Scully.

  • @espmh1000 Great call...and get a beer, too!

  • charles is gay

  • o what a beautiful and nice clean shave.

  • o what a beautiful and nice clean shave. his face shines.............

  • I don't know why, but him not using a straight razor doesn't bug me. Straight razors don't usually do the best shave anyway.

  • Lathering on a dirty sink?? How F*cking disgusting!! EWWWW!!!

I wold demand my money back, and walk away if I saw such a foul practice!

    GROSS!!

  • @michiganlover

Pansy. It's not going to kill you. Plus, it looks pretty clean to me.

  • Try This, ask ten guys , Who taught you how to shave?, I am sure Nine, will say no one. maybe this will answer all your questions.

    Scully.

  • i pride my self on the cleanliness of my shop, and well aware of any risk to Health and Safety,at the same time making the shave an Experience it should be.

    Scully

  • @scully6000 Nice to see the man himself commenting. Obviously, I have no idea where you trained, but I've seen on videos and heard from customers that the sink lathering method is used by Trumpers, who are just about the top people as I understand it, so that should end the worries.

  • check out my website, dont get hung up on straight egde shaves, this is just another effective method.

    best wishes

    Scully

  • The boy is so cute. I wish I could shave him too.

  • Nice shop, nice products used, but put down that home razor and show off some straight razor skills like every Master Barber does!

  • Why is there controversy over how you should shave? If you've managed to shave your face off then you're doing it wrong!

  • A goof looking boy who needs to sort his clothes out and hair to get women to notice him!

  • Cloverfield.

  • Why the heck is he using a Mach3!?! Not what I call a barber.

  • @damnation333 A barber is defined by the razor? Then Jimi Hendrix isn't a guitarist because he uses a Fender.

  • @danukenator123 Well yes. The quality of a persons tools have a direct effect on the outcome of practicing their profession. Jimi Hendrix could probably belt out purple haze on a cheap no-name brand guitar, but would the outcome be as good as if he used his Fender or a Gibson? Don't think so.

  • @danukenator123 Well it would be like going to get a facial at the spa, it costs $60 and the person just washes your face with neutrogena and sends you on your way. The whole point of a barber shave is the experience, kind of being treated to something, if you just need to make the hair leave your face, you can do that at home.

  • scullion the barber .com

  • check out our new website

  • Love the new web site...you need to get the New Salon on video now.

  • @Lincolntownhouses salon? thought they were a barbershop

  • @Madenkopf Haha, I should have guessed.

  • 5tonyww,

    Ha Ha!!!!! LOL!

Maybe it has something to do with him trying to kiss his barber!!!

I wasn't even paying attention to the clients beard, I was concentrating too much on the anticipation of waiting to see a true professional pull out a sweet looking Straight Razor, Strop it and proceed to perform a nice 3 - Pass shave with extreme precision. Ouch! What a letdown!

I guess I should have known something was up when he mixed his lather with the brush in the germ infested sink!!!

    Geo.

  • there is so much wrong with your post.

  • Awesome pre and post shave procedure.

  • What exactly is the purpose of the sting and slap?

  • I agree it is odd that the barber uses a safety razor but doubtlessly a professional of his expertise is capable of handling a cut-throat.

  • @bambamgo98 its a modern mulitie blade razor

  • WTF is he using to shave , shame man .

  • LOL!!!

I was all fired-up to see what type of Straight Razor he was going to whip out!

In the beginning they pan to the barber's tools on the table and show a straight razor laying there...

After all that fantastic face-prep he performs the shave with a multi blade cartridge style razor....

Most gents would be upset paying for a shave performed by a barber who wields anything other than a straight razor!!!

He did get a frosty beverage and help putting his coat on!

    Barber was very nice!

  • @geofatboy whats with men shaving that have no beards,or cant grow a beard?

  • (sigh) he busted out a safty razor.

  • the barber fart at the end. waving the towel?

  • @captainkill1 whats with men shaving that have no beards,or cant grow a beard?

  • @5tonyvvvv

exactly. they shave it off to spare themselves the unsightly patchy beard.

  • @acarlisl hahah so true

  • what the hell that beer was half empty?

  • this guy right here is not doing the right... if he had 2 take a state board test he would fail big time...

  • @tank313 and how is he not doing it right?

  • Aww man hes cheating. He aint authentic.

  • This makes me sleepy

  • i would love to have him as my barber or faceshale do

  • funny part is is that he said it only cost about 18 well i would pay like rediculous amounts of money for that lmao

  • i wish we had one of these around where i live, a MENS barbershop where guys can be guys lol

man i wish you'ld bring your business to the states lol

  • I need this! Its a must have! In germany is nothing like this -.-

  • I watched until 4:16 and get pissed off! he shave with a toy!

  • whats e-45?

  • @barkleysound its a cream that cures lots of skin problems , it locks in moisture and things like that , its been around for years

  • He's using a Gillette disposable piece of junk?! Where's the straight razor? Lazy.

  • don't care too much for the music, need some swing or something, nostalgic... good vid though

  • A traditional open razor hot towel shave should only be demonstrated with an open razor, A shave performed using any other razor is not promoting the true art of shaving. also more time is needed in the lathering.

  • where is this?

  • @MsXxKaibaXx lincoln , england

  • Barbers are such bosses

  • i Love the music....so relaxing...

  • PERFEKT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • where the straight razor? that aint no straight razor...

  • where is the straight blade?!

  • Awe man! I was hoping this barber would use cut throat razor to shave his client! That wiuld have been awesome!

  • @iaranda1985

if memory serves, some local laws in the UK may prohibit use of a straight razor for hygiene reasons.

  • @Sephirius A barbers straight razor would use disposable blades.

  • beer and a hot shave is almost as good as sex

  • @30301500 almost

  • @samjl4 I NO RITE!?

Actually I might rate it as better, sex is free (usually) a good shave and a beer isn't.

  • @30301500 sometimes even better

  • why no straight razor?

  • What piano song plays in the beginning?

  • i dont care how much I prep or drown my face in the hottest water tolerable, and i shave with a DE Merkur Safety Razor, a Badger Brush, and shave soap in the mug; but shaving against the grain anywhere on my face is regrettable for me. No thanks. I dont need mine that close. I get comfortable, close enough shaves when shaving in 3 passes: With the grain, across the grain towards the nose and adams apple, and across the grain towards the ears.

  • Think this is fabulous. Just what we need in Lincoln! Hope you don't mind, we are going to pop your link on our twitter and facebook pages.

  • @CravenMorehead3000: of course, I agree. But, why not let it grow first to an acceptable level, and *then* worry about shaving?

  • no straight razor?

  • I'm not following; I usually shave the sideburns, the beard, the mustache. The guy had almost nothing to shave anyway! Only the chin maybe.

  • that make's it tougher, more prone to skin irritation, in my opinion.

    Great Video!

  • Cheers from Finland! I'm looking for information on how to do a close shave. I admire this beauty parlor set-up for men. This is not just a shave, it is a full treatment. I've love to have my stubble cut so fine. Right now it sticks out after I tried to shave it myself 12 hours ago and my face is sore. I used Gillete Fusion Power shaver and foam.

  • did he say he'd scent the towel with west indian lilacs? those are poisonous

  • @darkness9994

West Indian Limes. It's a Truefitt and Hill Cologne scent.

  • what is the sting and slap? what does he spray on the guy?

  • alcohol based aftershave

  • I thought I saw a straight razor on his counter-top (probably a Shavette), but then he did the shave with a Mach 3. How disappointing!! :(

  • I doubt health regs will let them do true straight shaves these days.

Even so, looks like a through and professional job, and unlike the 'boutique' places, probably affordable.

  • @rahhughes

Hence why I said it was probably a "Shavette": a style of straight razor in which the blade is disposable. It takes a standard double edge blade that has been snapped in half. :)

  • @rahhughes

I wouldn't pay good money (even if it is cheaper than a "boutique" to be shaved with a Mach 3. I could get those same horrible results on my own at home.

A barber shop shave is supposed to be unique, something I can't accomplish on my own.

At the very least, I would expect the barber to be using a Shavette. :)

  • @rahhughes The barbers I have been to in developed countries use a shavette. Even in most developing countries (China, Nepal, India) they stopped using real straight razors.

  • @michiganlover

I could live with razor disappointment selection, because otherwise, I like the atmosphere and Ian does get the job done well. But something I can’t accept is shaving cream from the sink! That is not my idea of immaculate hygiene and I don’t care how elaborate he is in maintaining his sink clean. That is just not tasteful and I would pass.

  • should of done head too

  • baber looks like he really knows what hes doing really kind too wish i could find something like that

  • yeh he should have got that messy mop chopped, he didn't even need a shave anyway, he's just got bum fluf lmao

  • The barber shouldn't have let him leave the shop with that ridiculous hairdo intact. That mop is tragic. Should have skipped the shave and got a decent haircut.

  • should get a bald beaner gangster hair cut?

  • @BruceIsSoCool You just killed it.

  • mind your own bussniess bitch

  • Shave your ass first, then your head.

  • lol

  • @benzodiazapines thats kinda of the style for young musicians in england and the rest of the UK

  • Comment removed

  • @benzodiazapines

    Kids today....it's scary.

  • @benzodiazapines Nah, the more guys with a haircut like that, the more girls left for us.

  • Is this Charles supposed to be famous or something?

  • Yeah thats Charles Beaumont, he finished 3rd in the UK shit hairdo awards 2009

  • I like the british....they are kind people.

  • @rugged66 not all, alot of them are ass holes and has there faults, same as any other country, but the ones that are nice over here do show it.

  • well you're talking about having "infections" when using a straight blade, first, if you sanitize the blade then it wont cause infections, and second, he's mixing his foam on a sink? dont u know sinks are usually the dirtiest part of the restroom? he may have not caused infections or ingrown hairs but he just ruined it out mixing his foam on a sink lol...

  • Excellent response.

  • Ok, so you're saying that running a blade over the face causes infections etc. So, if this is true, 3 blades running over the face would be even worse then wouldn't they? I agree about the replacement blade aspect of barber shaving, however I feel a shavette would be a superior choice of razor than a mach 3. The reason he is using a mach 3 is because he is less likely to cut a customer's skin with it, and a barber who frequently cuts skin will frequently lose customers.

  • Where is the Straight edge mate...piss off with the toy

  • Agreed. Where is the straight edge?

  • Comment removed

  • That barber is a lovely man!

  • 18 pounds? Wow! That's $35 Canadian. Better be giving me a beer. lol

  • Neat!! He's a very good barber!! :D

  • WOW, that's mint, I wish my barber offered me a beer!

  • I really don't mean to ask this to be rude but its just one of those questions that bothers me... Are they gay? not together gay but in general? because at 6:35 the guy says its a perfect gift for "your partner".... makes you wonder doesn't it, or is this some sort of english term that an american wouldn't know about. partner = friend?

  • I have to respond as this bugs the hell out of me, I am not gay, nor does it bother me if people are gay, we use the term partner, as this is the correct term to use in our modern day society, I kiss and hug all my buddy's

all men in europe and the middle east kiss and hug,

my response to all this homophobic rubbish is , GET A LIFE!

  • If there was more hugs and kisses in society the world would be a better place...................................

This an informative video on wet shaving. it was a dying trade, and pioneers like myself are trying to revive it.

  • hey hey chill broha. I like i said i didn't ask this to be rude, it was simply an innocent question. it isn't a part of our culture in the United States to kiss and hug our friends, we just stick with a simple handshake. So this question was out of curiousity man, not homophobic reasoning. Wasn't intending to disrespect anyone here man.

  • Scully you are absolutely right. People can be so ignorant. Just because you give a man a hug? Please. People need to get a life.

  • Brits say "partner" where Americans say girlfriend or boyfriend a lot of the time -- not just when they're talking about gays.

  • @elowe51 Yes mate, Partner Means Friend in british.

  • @XNOSCOPEGODX are to trying to be funny or what?

  • Take a look at that cheek-to-cheek action they got going in in the first 15 seconds of the video. These are not 2 men to be talking about real man stuff.

  • you should shut up and watch the video

  • Love the slow piano song in the beginning of video. Anyone know the name and the composer?
