I live in California... rofl. Weather here has not gotten that bad, and I've lived here my whole life, so far. We've had hurricane force winds, but nothing THIS bad, and not often. Southern California: We have earthquakes and hot weather, c'mon down!
@BoocheeMan 13 decades, and 4 years ago, downtown Chicago was hit by a tornado. But that was before any of these buildings we have now were built. But BoocheeMan thank you for telling people.
@chicagogeorge Downtown Chicago doesn't get tornadoes. My great-grandmother has been living in Chicago for 86 years, and has not been through a tornado. She told me.
@anoceanbetween this happens sometimes. Chicago doesn't get tornadoes. Downtown Chicago doesn't get tornadoes. But if you live at least 25 miles away from the city then you might get a tornado. We're like New York city.
@ps3or360idontknow Umm... I didn't even say anything about a tornado? But while we're on the subject, you're flat out wrong. There have been several tornadoes in Chicago. You need to do some research my friend. Its an urban myth that tornadoes don't touch down in big cities, but they do.
@anoceanbetween I live in Chicago. people in my family have been here 80+ years, and have not been in a tornado. The last time DOWNTOWN CHICAGO got a tornado was 1876. We get alot of tornadoes around us.
lol...get these kind of intense thunderstorms in Florida atleast once a week if not a day during the late summer. Everyone always has to stop and put their hazards on when driving cause you can't see 5 feet in front of you.
That would be kind of scary! Man Chicago has some intense weather! Then again I live in San Diego so any kind of rain seems crazy. We do get a lot of wind like this though.
Doesn't look quite as a bad as a hurricane. I remember living through a CAT-3 in a highrise hotel. Holy crap. The rain and wind double teamed and water was actually leaking through the gaskets, not to mention making a huge pounding sound on the glass. But looks pretty severe in any case.
Yeah, I live by Elgin in the NW suburbs, and a friend of mine had waist high water in his basement, which caved in all the walls and busted out the windows. I was stranded at the library that day and had to basically swim home.
It was amazing, I'm here on the Gold Coast and Division from State to Dearborn lost power for the day. Funny thing was I just bought this golf umbrella and wanted to test it's "windproof" features ,I'm glad I didn't because that storm was just too fast.
Not bad, but you should see the footage i got from late may. (May 24, 2011)

the city hasn't been damaged from a tornado in decades, but we've been hit by strong winds produced by severe storms.
