/watch?v=Itmv3KDzNEY&feature=PlayList&p=9B39A5D557BF2F71&index=12 The black and white movie Rembrandt starring Charles Laughton. Watch it if you love Rembrandt, you will not be disappointed.
My god. From the very first early self-portrait shown here, Rembrandt achieved genius. Even his early works display the full breadth and depth of his vision and ability. What a contribution to this world!
@konzwambii Yes, there was something so wonderful and profound in these self portraits I daresay they are divine; just look into his eyes ... I see so much intelligence, emotion ... wisdom ... and sadness. Rembrandt Harmensz. Van Rijn lives!
Thankyou so much for this video ! I cant believe i found a video with rembrandts self-portraits in chronological order ! At least it seems like most(if not all) of them are in that order :D And am i the only one who loves his sketches more than his paintings ? I dont know why, but i just love the way he can bring those sketches to life with only black and white colours.
But back to Rembrandt. His natural draftsmanship is mind-boggling. One can study any sketch by Rembrandt's hand for hours without boredom. With economy of means, and quite naturally, he conveyed space, form, light, depth, and gravity. All with profundity and humanity. He speaks to us on many levels. Still unequaled, and obviously, never shall be equaled. Rembrandt is THE Master.
If leery of van Gogh's later colorful impasto paintings, start with the achingly beautiful early watercolor/drawings, with their sublime somber tones, masterful composition, and idiosynchratic perspective and distortions. The women carrying sacks of coal is an early masterpiece. A genius from the start, though self-effacing and unrecognized.
Rembrandt was a genius. The greatest of all ever. I love him. Would be so nice to have lived in his time and be his pupil. He was a great personality for sure.
Right. I personally dont like Van Goghs Paintings that much (some of them for sure i like very much). But Van Goghs drawings were great. Thats what makes an good painter, he MUST be a good draftsman first. Van Gogh didnt paint the realistic style not becase he didnt know how to do it, because he just wanted to paint his style. I dont like painters that only can do abstract work. Gerherd Richter is great for example, he can paint photorealistic but abstract too.
i love rembrandt he was genius his paintings are just amazing its unbeliveable that somebody in 17-een century could do this. and i also love vivaldi this music is amazing,i thing that four seasons is one of the best composition ever had been written for violin with orchestra
i really like rembrandt especially when he paints metals and the strong contrast of the subject fading behind the background! it's seems that the first camera was invented during his time! excellect works! truly a master indeed!
really like the self portrait at 1:45. Rembrandt is very richly attired in velvet and fur trim, he looks like a prince. The pose was inspired by a famous portrait by Titian.
Thank you for yor reply,Don't worry,I hope you´ve understood totally my comment in spanish, I have not been in Ohio but I've seen photos and is very beautiful, excuse me for my imperfect english.
Oh yes, I understood. Of all the videos I have made the music on this one is my favorite. It is very beautiful. The self portraits are endearing. When Rembrandt loved he loved with his whole heart.
As to Ohio, there are lots of trees and farm fields, a few big cities and many rivers. The weather goes from too hot to too cold in the blink of an eye. I hate that. I want to go where there are beaches, palm trees and an ocean.
I always was a fan of his. Last year during "The Rembrandt year" I more watched his "etsen" paintings in The Rembrandthouse at the Jodenbreestraat. So wonderful. A gift of God he had.
brenda: Could you put up some vids of Turner and Delacroix? Also just wanted to say that I really like your vids, so much better than seeing people look like retards, just to get attention. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I will see what there is of Turner and Delacroix to be found in the way of quantity and quality to be found on the net. That is what determines who I can make a video of.
Thanks for uploading this brendfohio. In my opinion Rembrandt was the greatest painter who ever lived. A German artist,[whose name i have forgotten] once said, "When i see Hals i feel like painting, but when i see Rembrandt i feel like giving up". His towering genius was such that you know how he felt.
Come on. Relax. It is not because I dont feel that all his drawings sare o good that I mean that I, myself, is better than him. Of course not. You know pretty well that I do not imply that. This is not honest from you to make this link. It is not because I dont like a song of the Beatles, or a concerto of a classical composer that I imply that "I am better than them". This a manipulative and childish comment.
Please do not insult me ... but I dont think all his sketchings are good at all. His paintings are, of course, but not the drawings. They lack hand ability, I mean the first ones here shown.
Cheers to rembrandt, one of, if not the greatest, painter that ever lived. The nerve he had, and the undeserved disrepect he got in his older years was a shame.
Oh yes the art museum here in Dayton is having an exhibition of Rembrandt's works to celebrate! i can honestly say it would be worth the trip from many many miles away to come see it. Search for the DAyton Art Institute, in Dayton, Ohio!
