Can I give a suggestion? After you do the gaussian blur for the shadow, make a new layer for your highlight and, keeping the ball selection, draw the highlight and spherize that as well. This should give the highlight a more 3d effect, instead of it looking 2d.

I really really loved the results I got with this. I had no freakin' idea what a "contact sheet 2" was, didn't know that photoshop even HAD a "sphereize" effect (JEEEZ!!!) and have never made a reflection like this before. I'm unable to select the circle before adding stroke feature. Control, + clicking on layer 1 doesn't work. Therefore cannot achieve the shading effect inside the edge. Why?

After I'm made my photo ball, I can't get the ant lines to appear around the ball and therefore cannot add the stroke feature to Layer 2. Instead a message pops up and says: Could not stroke the layer because there is nothing to stroke.

I have a pre-made collage of 25 photos saved as a jpeg and .png. The stroke feature doesn't work on either one when I select Layer 2. Just on the original layer which blurs the whole image.

I'm working with CS4. Any advice?

Enlarge your background. His is way bigger then the ball. But it's zoomed out, making it look small. That's why the ball shrinks when he moves it to the other layer.

For reflections, try using a gradient layermask. Do it by first creating a layermask (duh..), and then choosing the gradient tool, choose a white to black gradient,and drag it down. Works marvelous.

put the DVD(disk) in the drive,

Start CS4

in the menu bar, select PHOTOSHOP > PREFERENCES > PLUG-INS.

When the menu comes up, check the box that says "Addition Plug-Ins Folder", and chose the folder... it's on the DVD, English, goddies, Optional plug-ins, Automate--and hit "Choose" and then "OK"

Quit CS4, then start it again with the DVD still in, and the option will be there.

The background was just something I knocked up. It was proably A4 sized. I made it but using the gradient tool with the mode set to DIFFERENCE. Just apply a few gradients and you'll see the effect appear.

I have tried this using it in Photoshop CS3 but somehow when i managed to import all the images into the one document i cannot move them around like you can? What have i done wrong?

Two things to check.

1st when you use contact sheet 2 make sure "fletten all Layers" is UNTICKED.

2nd when you use the move tool put a tick in "Auto Select" and make sure it's set to layer.
