WTF are you guys smoking talking about Ducati not being taken seriously at the track? Ducati owns the superbike world championships year in and out. Write that down and get a clue.
these bikes may not compete on a level that is the same as the jap liter bikes, this level may be discussed in many different aspects, although the jap liter bikes also dont comare even a percent in these bikes categories.
jap bikes,30 thousand kilometers an your changing em up for a new one or they just straight have problems, this type of bike, will give you the opposite
Unique it is. But I still don't see this bike competing with the Big-4 Japanese literbikes....I think right now, those 4 companies represent the pinnacle of motorcycle race engineering. At $25,000, this bike will fit in nice alongside Ducati's lineup - yeah, they're fast and very cool, but wont be taken seriously at most tracks events.
A) Neither Ducati nor BMW are trying to compete with the Japanese bike on price, nor should they. There are already 4 bikes with high "bang for buck". The Euro bikes are competing for buyers to whm money is the least important consideration.
B) Come out to my track. The Ducs there will make you serious...
Agreed - a BMW or Ducati is NOT "just another fast bike on the road" (i.e. one of the 4 literbikes that we see everyday). The Italian & German bikes lack that "disposable toy" image that just about every Japanese bike is cursed with.
The point I was making is that a buyer with any sort of lap-time obsession will probably overlook the BMW & Ducati showrooms...even if they do have money to burn. I honestly think it's the motor design - I love V-twins and boxers as much as anyone, but I think they're inherently disadvantaged when it comes to motorcycle racing - the the 4-cyl engines just seem to be the perfect design for such a given task. Now for road bikes, a V-twin takes every single advantage away from the 4-bangers.
Nice to see BMW with a real racer again. I like this one, but I still think they are building a lot of boring motorcycels. But this one is the coolest I've ever seen. wow
come on, did you guys film this with a freaking cellphone? you could expect videos by a established magazine to be a little more professional..

Minus the bulb placement in the headlight, reminds me of the 'ole GSXR. Sweet picture of the full faired in the back.
