@sutishman Yes you can if you are bracing for impact. You can jump a little. All players do it to some extreme. It's just a natural way to get your body ready for a hit. Refs are not going to call that gay shit. It's just in the rule book so you can't pull like a WWF move on a player when you hit him. You're right, it's a rule, but it's rarely called on anyone including him. It's kind of like the sweep play at second in the MLB. The player didn't touch the base, but it's still an out!

There are not many defenders in the nhl that can match up well to Ovechkin in terms of defensive ability and strength. Marc Staal and Shea Weber are two that I have actually seen dominate him physically. Can you guys think of any others?

@NemesisChess Marc Staal no way. I am a die hard Rangers fan and remember Ovechkin owning him in the playoffs two years ago. Staal almost died when he got hit by him to the left of the goal and than Ovechkin literally stood over him while he was on the ice and wouldn't let him get up. I think Hal Gill did a good job containing him this year but Ovie still had 5 and 5 in the series and he matched up against him most of it. You really can't stop him. He's cuts inside goes outside does whatever.
