  • is this the very same version as '83 or was it remade again?

....nevermind, it is a remake the 83 version was produced better

  • @jimmyonthecorner Correct...

  • I wish a man talked to me into these words"you're the queen of my HEART!wow!terrific.Good lyrics and music, rythm i like this song...

  • Hei, esta base é um dos grandes sucessos de Tim Maia: "És a estrela do meu show, quero te amor, te amo...te amo!" Pode crer, agora me lembro, dancei muito esta música dele no Palmeiras com a Chic Show em 1977. Valeu Youtube!!!

  • yea el did say he couldnt touch boby but i steal think they sound just alike hitting those high notes lets face it they all can just sing like a motha that all to it

  • The bass on this song is ridiculous!

  • I remember this, they wrote this song for their mama! too sweet

  • @bkbelly89 lol not to contradict you but el said he wrote the song for his firstborn daughter adris

  • I listen like I am an expert, my point is that the maturity of the tones and the depth of the song it was more than a song for his mother it was for a lady that gave them so much and you can feel it all these long years this is Bobby plus he felt so much just as El does now but that what I get from it...

  • Who can sing like a Bobby Debarge?! I honestly think his falsetto beats Eddie Kendricks and Smokey Robinson!

  • Six years ago a friend of mine mentioned the music of DeBarge and I said let's change the subject because I was young when I liked them now I don't want to hear anything they did. One night about a year ago I thought I'd listen to them just to justify not wanting to talk about them and I found out again that they were GREAT!!!! The use of the organs and strings give them a classic, romantic sound that will last if I live to be 107 or 103 years as my aunt Georgia and Faye are now!!!! It's 2010

  • It seems this album didnt quite hit the DeBarge sound. It wasnt the signature sound that they have now. They killed it in the next album though when they were able to write and produce on it. I am glad that Motown let them do it otherwise they may not have ever came into their own...

  • at 2:28 is when bobby does his thang to the end, sounding like a human ambulance

  • this song was written for their mother

  • I think this is beautiful to me this is better then the one in1983.

  • El is killin it at the end.

  • @bagley232 thats not el its his brother bobby i think.

  • @ceecee6247 it is bobby actually

  • @bagley232 That's Bobby adlibbing.

  • Wisdom is the Queen of my heart and I love music and especially DeBarge

  • To clear up any confusion as to who is who; all the notes that sound non-humanly possible to hit are Bobby. The rest is El.

  • @nubiannappy IM completly sure El could hit those notes as well back then,he was 17.He can still hit amazing notes at 50 so you do teh math but yeah it sounds like bobby

  • i like this version better

  • wonderful post! This is a classic jam of the DeBarges and VERY beautiful! awesome!

  • yes that is right this is the very first Debarge album i have it , the song share my world is different on this album also

  • @shaywatts Right, and I have both versions on my channel =]

  • @shaywatts There's different versions of that song? Where can I find the other version?

  • @38106chick I thought the original "Debarge" album title was "All This Love" not "Love Me In A Special Way".I'm pretty sure.

  • No...the first LP was "The DeBarges," but it wasn't as successful as Motown had expected. The group then added James and participated more in the production of the music, which is reflected in the second LP, "All This Love." The third LP is "In A Special Way," which is heavily sampled today.

  • @wantattention4real That's what I'm saaayyyiiinnnggg!!! Read what I have in quote(S). The original "DeBarge"(not The DeBarges) album title was "All This Love". Then came "In A Special Way".

  • Oh I thought it was El. Wow them brothas can blow. God touched or blew some talent on this family. Bobby sounds like the angel that he has become.

  • I love this song or is it the voice of El that pulls at my heart strings. Keep pullin. miss you DeBarge

  • this song just hits you so deep...their ranges are so amazing...

  • I suffer when I think of how this family suffered because of their looks, their hair, etc. They could not even find solace at home because of the abuse going on there. I really feel for them. I love them dearly and wish them the best and I will ALWAYS support what they do.

  • i use 2 love this song when i was a kid honey i knew i was a member of the group i was gonna replace el

  • What a beautiful and melodic vibe to this song, and what a talent this family was, unlike todays woefully untalented artists of today. But there are a few out, who knows what it takes to be a true SINGER. like maxwell, jaheim, keysha cole.

  • yes, you are so on point. this was a hell of a singing family may peace be upon to Debarge brother who passed

  • El and Bunny were definitely the creators and the breath of Debarge, although Bobby may have been more flexible than El singing in the upper range. The bad music was all El.

  • damn all this time i thought that was el, but now that i listen, i see that is bobby...i think el COULD hit those notes (in a lighter tone) but they wanted bobby to sing it because bobby was more experienced especially with the falsetto at the time

  • This is El, not Bobby.

  • @olivie777 --actually I just read Bunny's book "The Kept Ones" and she informs that it is Bobby singing the ad-lib on the song. El sings only the lead.

  • @amjohnson1974

So, you're saying it's Bobby doing those last few high notes? Right before the last few high notes El is hitting the same high note. El could do this too, they just wanted the more experienced one to do this I guess, but El has the range to do this; I've heard him.

  • Well.. I'm not actually saying it. Bunny says so in her book. She informed that Bobby did the adlibs and the highs on the end of the song. I thought it El as well and I've also heard El sing the high notes, but it wasn' t him on the track. But even El will tell you that he couldn't touch Bobby. Bobby was relentless on the mic. They both have range, but Bobby and El most definitely held down their own separate lanes when it came to the music.

  • @amjohnson1974 This message is actually for everyone...I screen my posts to eliminate spam, so if it doesn't come up immediately, that is the reason why. You don't have to post twice. I do check my channel regularly to update posts. Thanks.

  • At 3:15, Bobby sounds like a spacecraft taking off. I'm sayin', who does that? That's what I call vocal gymnastics. His voice is truly, truly AMAZING!!!!

  • This is not Bobby. This is El singing Queen of My Heart.

  • Bobby was such an unselfish mentor for his brothers. Their relationship seemed some what co-dependent in the music industry just as it was when they were children growing (in a good way)

  • bobby used to beat up james when they were kids

  • But you know what else is interesting, out of ALL the brothers Bobby and El's looks resembled eachother the most. And their speaking voices are very much alike. I guess that's where their strong connection came from. I understand that EL was very devasted by Bobby's death. Which is understandable, losing a loved one is hard. All I know is both of them had a very positive impact on me and I am grateful to the DeBarge family for supplying me with GREAT, timeless music. I love the DeBarges!!!

  • Me too girl! They were a very big part of my pre-teen/teen years in regards to what I was listening to and patterning my singing after. LOVE THEM!!!

  • @iluvmyboba this bobby, once again, singing lead, el is in background on this one. they sound alike, but if you study el like i do, you'll know this is not him. listen carefully

  • @nucanin: Bobby is not singing lead, he is only doing the ad libs on the end. Bunny even says so in her book.

  • @nucanin I'm sorry but that is el debarge singing lead...queen of my heart was performed by Debarge. Bobby sang with another group. Yes they do sound alike though.

  • I never knew that Bobby did the adlib at the end of this song.....it sounds like him...I always figured that El couldn't get that high...AND IT SOUNDS LIKE BOBBY!!!!

  • sh_t lol el can get high, bobby was cool but el was the best singer of the all

  • So right!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @bluvsex7

El can get that high; I've heard him do it.

The beauty of El's voice on this is ridiculous. This family is in a category of their own. Their voices are so beautiful it's almost eery.

  • Their father Robert DeBarge Sr. died last week; August 30, 2009. No one is revealing the cause of death nor is there alot of talk about him at this time.

  • I know Robert Sr. was on oxygen...perhaps he had emphysema.

  • @38106chick

I wonder if any of his children went to the funeral.

  • What are you serious!!!!!!

  • Bobby did his thing at the end of the song! In my opinion, that's the best part of the song.

  • I was born a year after this came out, i love debarge and 80's music overall, wish i was born earlier so i grew up listening to songs like this and understanding 'em :)))), don't nobody make music like this no more!

  • OK..everyone. I read Bunny's book "The Kept Ones" and this will end this. Bunny explained that Bobby did the adlib on the end of the song "Queen of My Heart". You can ready her book..she would know..she was there and is their sister. El is leading, Bobby only did the adlibs towards the end of the song.

  • Thank you sooooo much for clearing that up!!! I'm gonna look for that book too :) Thanks again!

  • How can you tell the difference between Bobby's singing voice, and El's singing voice?

  • I know, it's extremely hard.

I just adore them both, but there voices are truly uncanny.

  • @iluvmyboba

I like that word uncanny. Yes, that aptly describes their voices because when I listen to them I go into another dimension. Their voices sound heavenly-like....uncanny for this earth!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I love how Bobby brings this song home at the end. I love his intense free style crooning delivery.

  • It's El, noy Bobby.

  • Your wrong Bobby sings the high part at the end. El sings the high part "I'll give her love to last a lifetime, that will never die" during the second verse.

  • By the way El wrote this fabulous joint and sang lead on it all the way. Bobby co-produced the entire album with El, but as far as singing background it wasn't necessary (I don't think). DEBARGE was all that and a bag of Chips!

  • This is actually one of my favorite songs by Debarge, but I didn't know this was originally on their debut album! I just watched the Unsung tv special, and I can't believe while making such incredible music that they were going through so many problems.

  • yea i saw that their story is really sad

  • @chicaastuta2002

They could find solace nowhere, home, school, or anywhere. They were heavily discriminated against. Why do black people do this to their own? They suffered immensely. That's why I get pissed at anyone who criticizes them. I went through similar circumstances and it scars you for life and affects your daily existence. Black hate, then of course white hate.

  • good question...I'm not going to say cuz I want you to find out for yourself. Start with Slavery and how the slave masters operated their households.

  • I like this song, it got a Westcoast touch to it.

  • This is their first album released in 1981. I wore this album out back then. I now have it on original cd. On the back side of this cover they wore sweaters looking preppy. DeBarge was the shiz-nik.

  • dam, el debarge is still sexy.

  • In Bunny's book, she informed that Bobby ad-libbed towards the end of this song. It is actually El on lead vocals, James wasn't in the group until the "All This Love" album.

  • Most people say that this song was written for Mama DeBarge but I believe El wrote it for his first child, Adris, who currently works for Tracey Edmonds. Although it's a great song to play every Mothers Day it's really the theme song for every man who's every had a girl child, Whether the man was an unwed single teen father or a grown married man, a beautiful child is always a blessing. El was only 15 when he had Adris, and in this song he expresses the joy that most of us can't articulate.

  • of course its not about his mother

  • I always thought that this song was written for Mama D also. You are right, this could have been written for Adris. But keep in mind, by this time, most of them already had children. Both Bunny and El's first child are the same age (33) to be exact. Janae (Bunny's daughter) and Adris (El's Daughter).

  • I also thought that this song was written for Mama D. You have a point, this song could have been written for Adris. But keep in mind that most of the group members had children by this time. Bunny and El's oldest daughters are the same age. Janae and Adris are both 33 years old.

  • I love this song and album. I also love the fact that they didn't let their classic songs die when the first album failed in 81. It was remixed and released on IN A SPECIAL WAY. They also did the same for "Share My World" another gem from the debut album remixed and released on RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT. Wish they would have remixed and rereleased this entire album after the success of ALL THIS LOVE and IN A SPECIAL WAY. THE DEBARGES is another great album that got caught up in company politics.

  • I heard Bunny Debarge on the radio one morning talking about her book and the drug and sexual abuse, I thought it was all crap util I saw Unsung about the Debarges it was depressing too me! I'd like to know who had a happy childhood? Mine was crappy but I turned out pretty good so I guess everybody copes with pain in different ways.

They were in the limelight and that fast life was available to them that is why they had such a devastating impact!

Drug addiction is NO JOKE god bless them

  • Comment removed

  • they all have ruff childhood poor, physical and sexual abusive father, not being excepted not being excepted because they were mixed, they took drugs to cope with thepain as many people do. But it only causes more problems. I think bout how far they couldve gone. they got the nicest voices like no other. james, el and bobby RIP. most important i hope they can stay off drugs and heal..they got kids that can sing off the hook now. the next generation.maybe its not the last of debarge

  • I love this song. i come on here everytday and listen to it. I wish I could find that album in Cd form. But thanks for posting. it's great for my generation to hear REAL Music and not that ringtone mess.

  • Attn: That IS Bobby coming in @ 2:33. Yes, El was more 'successful' in terms of record sales but Bobby is the break out talent of the Debarge family. Were it not for him, we never would have never heard of the Debarges. He created the 'Debarge Sound'. While El's range is great, it does not come close to Bobby's. (Listen to Switch's "You & I" for comparison.) Bobby has the stronger voice. Ok, enough rant; let's enjoy the song. BTW, @ 3:16, doesn't Bobby sound like a siren??? LOL

  • excuse me if im wrong but i think its james singing on this because bobby the older brother was with switch (before debarge group) he song "I call your name" people think its EL.. He did sing some songs with debarge though so i may be wrong. but james sounds like the same just a notch lower..they all are talented. and you right Bobby was the first.

  • the reason why think that is they sound similiar and people think its all EL.because when they finaly got commercial success album 4, the rest of the group was effected by drug problems escept EL at the time. motown thought he was more reliable so motown made him the leader. but on earlier classics'queen of my heart' 'I like it' they whared more vocals.the older brother bobby RIP who sing with switch "i call your name" classic. did get them started.

  • Hey, Bobby was a legend in making music but El had that flow that no one could touch. El could hi pitch and he could control his voice

  • they were both BEASTS!

those brothers could produce nd write like nobodys business!

but when it all falls down...bobby was better

nd it could be bobby cuz he can go higher than el by a hair

  • @leodjoneluv

El is my favorite of all time. Please El, take care of yourself.....please.

  • Thanks for clearing this up. You have to have really studied the Debarges to know who's who on vocals. It simply was Bobby's style. I still think El has the cleaner, better singing voice and of course Bobby had the better falsetto hands down. And the rhythmic arrangement they both possess is awesome. Thanks again

  • Thats not Bobby people, lets get it straight

  • yeah, Bobby is on this at the end, that's his style. El can hit the same notes as Bobby-El is just clearer and smoother. He has medicine in his voice--it soothes. Bobby was more experienced at that time, but they both have the talents. El's voice is far better than Bobby's though-you've got to admit. There's no other singers to match them.

  • Debarge is an underrated musical family. Of all the songs this is my favorite and it's never played been on the radio. Love It.

  • Interesting footnotes i always thought the same thing that bobby debarge was on this song. Where can i get bunny debarges book??

  • yeah, at the end sounds just like Bobby. Those two were ultra talented. If they knew how blessed they were, they wouldn't need the drugs. Their father will get his. Why did their mother keep them in that environment for so long? Is she all there?

  • That's got to be Bobby at the end.

  • LOL it does sound like him; but El sounds sooooo much like him its unreal. I hear a lot of people say that El can't hit notes like Bobby, but actually El can hit every note Bobby hit but El's voice is a lil thinner than Bobby's. That's the only difference in their voices. I have been a Switch/DeBarge fan for a long time and have studied their voices and they sound soooo much alike. But the biggest difference is the style of a Switch song vs. a DeBarge song.

  • in bunny's book she stated that Bobby produced and sang vocals on this on track, so yes that is Bobby in the middle and the end of this track.

  • yes it is, that's his style

  • Hey everybody, when you see a "Comment Pending" next to your comment, there's no need to post multiple times. I have it set up this way because I review all of posts to weed out spam. Thanks.

  • One of those songs that stands the test of time for sure. I loved it when I first heard it like 20 years ago and still do now.

  • i think bobby is definitely on this track, listen to his song you and i from switch, el can't hit notes like bobby.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • It sounds like two different brothers near the end. Was Bobby on this too because it sounds like him.

  • great song!!!

  • incroyable chanson dédiée a mon ange c bien el qui chante

  • Oui, c'est incroyable!

  • aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

    str8 jammin!!!!

  • This song is hard to find for me. Thank you!

Reminds me of my high school years :)

  • Wow I think I have this album in the garage! Be right back! 38106chick I love you, please marry me!

  • Love this song

  • can't you seeeeeee

  • eeeeee

  • I can hear the similarities in both Bobby and El's falsetto. Bobby laid the foundation for the family to follow. It is Bobby's sound that they are copying. El sounds a lot like Bobby, but has a softer more lighter touch to it. Bobby is more structured and direct. Both brilliant. So soft and easy-Genius.

  • You are right Bobby was the beginning of the dinasty and the main reference and I think his dead was the end of the dinasty too.well never know who between the`m was more talented cause bobby was in trouble form very beginning so El took the lead.Bobby was the base of the castle teh castle fell and no way El could walk alone in music wihout the old bro reference

  • Finally someone put this version up, I would have done it but I only had One of the songs off this album on my pod. I think Bobby & EL are the only two that sounds a a lot alike. I think El should do a cd of some of bobby musiq. Better I wish that they would ALL get together and release a double disc cd

  • I know. I actually got the music off of a Spanish blog that has since shut down.

  • Thanks for posting these songs I havent heard this one in about 20yrs.GOD bless the Debarge family.

  • That would be WONDERFUL if they would do that!!!! I loved SWITCH and DeBARGE!!!! I pray for their family and wish them peace and prosperity.

  • Snaps I like this version better then the In a Special Way version Wowsers on that one.

  • Agreed. What the group lost in sales from poor label promotion though, the rerelease no doubt enhanced the In a Special Way album sales.

  • Wow, I played this album over & over until it was scratched.

  • I think that is EL at the end of the song and not Bobby

  • Bobby produced most of this cd and was not credited for the background vocals. If you have the Switch recordings you can note the differences between El and Bobby's range. Both supremely talented.

  • Yeah Bobby did produce a lot of Debarge's music. He is the one that laid the foundation for the rest of his family. He also taught El to sing in that falsetto like he did. You can hear the similarities of Bobby and El. El has a softer sound to it and Bobby's is more structured. Both amazing though.

  • Bobby's falsetto solos at the end are amazing. Gone too soon.RIP!

  • true that

  • thank you!

  • You're welcome!

  • El looks so cute in that pic
