This reviewer hasn't even seen the movie of Jumper yet he's rating the preview as if it were the actual movie. He complains that there's too much jumping but that was just added into the preview to make it interesting and besides, they shouldn't call the movie jumping if they don't jump.
Excellent review. Really made me think about movies in general and how lazy movie-makers have gotten because of the new special effects. It's like, we can just put some CGI in, why bother with good acting or a good story?
i don't have problem with ''old ideas'' like Superman, G1 Transformers, Star trek (TOS), Hamlet, greek myth etc. if its used right in a remake/update. i say yes to King Kong 2005, Superman-the movie. but no to bayformers. new ideas? i've been wondering the same thing, were are those guys?...but maybe we should not wait for them and create something ourselves.
I think they should do all the old ideas, sometimes remakes arent good at all, but other movies that weren't made before, such as Iron Man, should be made first to bring back old characters in a whole new way.
Also, one more thing. You mentioned about "overusing" the special effect in the movie... I'm torn. On the one hand, you're very right, one doesn't want to overdo it. On the other, it looks like how someone would really use that power in real life. (c'mon, you know a lot of us would use it to move that 2 feet to the remote... we're that lazy) So how much should realism compromise for special effect use or visa versa? Something to discuss.
Love your rating system at the end of these. What I'm curious to is how is Sam Jackson is the villain. HCA is apparently a BANK ROBBER. So far I'm actually kind of rooting for Samuel to win (I mean, his statement "there are always consequences" makes a very valid point). Betting pool on how much this movie will have designated villains and heroes?
I liked this one especially because I'm a big sci-fi fan. Like you said it's a shame this film focuses more on being a blockbuster, then a pshycological and phillosophical exploration of what these guy's can do.
It shouldn't be too hard to outperform the Covenant. The best point I took away was how the film will aim to hit blockbuster by being content to be shallow in it's concepts while the real memorable sci-fi epics always tried to push innovation and emotion. But filmmakers will never breach out when a safe treaded path will still make coin and therefore not have to risk a road that could allianate it's audience.

This is good info and advice, i used to be the kid who would go see a lot of movies opening day. A lot of movies that i went to see turned out to be very stupid and uninteresting. Now i do research before checking out movies so I save money and time.

This reviewer hasn't even seen the movie of Jumper yet he's rating the preview as if it were the actual movie. He complains that there's too much jumping but that was just added into the preview to make it interesting and besides, they shouldn't call the movie jumping if they don't jump.

Excellent review. Really made me think about movies in general and how lazy movie-makers have gotten because of the new special effects. It's like, we can just put some CGI in, why bother with good acting or a good story?

i don't have problem with ''old ideas'' like Superman, G1 Transformers, Star trek (TOS), Hamlet, greek myth etc. if its used right in a remake/update. i say yes to King Kong 2005, Superman-the movie. but no to bayformers. new ideas? i've been wondering the same thing, were are those guys?...but maybe we should not wait for them and create something ourselves.

I think they should do all the old ideas, sometimes remakes arent good at all, but other movies that weren't made before, such as Iron Man, should be made first to bring back old characters in a whole new way.

Also, one more thing. You mentioned about "overusing" the special effect in the movie... I'm torn. On the one hand, you're very right, one doesn't want to overdo it. On the other, it looks like how someone would really use that power in real life. (c'mon, you know a lot of us would use it to move that 2 feet to the remote... we're that lazy) So how much should realism compromise for special effect use or visa versa? Something to discuss.

Love your rating system at the end of these. What I'm curious to is how is Sam Jackson is the villain. HCA is apparently a BANK ROBBER. So far I'm actually kind of rooting for Samuel to win (I mean, his statement "there are always consequences" makes a very valid point). Betting pool on how much this movie will have designated villains and heroes?

I liked this one especially because I'm a big sci-fi fan. Like you said it's a shame this film focuses more on being a blockbuster, then a pshycological and phillosophical exploration of what these guy's can do.

It shouldn't be too hard to outperform the Covenant. The best point I took away was how the film will aim to hit blockbuster by being content to be shallow in it's concepts while the real memorable sci-fi epics always tried to push innovation and emotion. But filmmakers will never breach out when a safe treaded path will still make coin and therefore not have to risk a road that could allianate it's audience.
