Can't emphasize enough, education is indeed the key to saving black boys and uplifting the race! Parents - demand excellence and boys will deliver - those darn expectations!

Difference between you and me is, that I didn't give up. At the moment i'm 17, in school studying A levels. I talk like this because when I write essays, I have to do proper sentances with correct punctuation and capitalisation. I do teach myself, along side school. But certain things are easier with the help of a teacher. Schooling in england is different evidently. We look at subjects from a neutral perspective not a pro american or pro british one. British schools are interested in faceless grades. Doesn't matter what colour you are, you get them x ammount of A's and they're happy. I never took lessons to learn to play the keyboard or to use music making software. Most of the white people I know listen to Drum and Bass, Dubstep and Hip Hop. You've probably not heard much of the first two (they haven't really hit off in America) but they're both essentialy black music. My father learnt a skill, metalworking. It never got him where he wanted to be. Couple of years ago he decided to go back to college and study to be a motorcycle engineer. He now has truely found a job he enjoys. We don't have coolade in this country, but over the course of my education i've developed quite a few skills to help me on the path I choose. I wan't to pass on hope to my children when the time come, show them that they can achieve thier potential.

Yes Bob Marley and many Blues artists are very good and inspirational. Trouble is in the poorest areas of the world, we need doctors and teachers. Certain countrys are doing a brilliant job at training them (especially cuba) but theres still not enough. Yes the service industry is important but teachers and doctors are important too. Also here in britain we have a national health service. Everyone gets free healthcare courtasy of state. No "you don't have medical insurance, we can't treat you" here. Many people do want an NHS in america but it can't get through firstly because your presidents often avoid the Issue (Even obama is avoiding it). When presidents do try to pass it (Clinton did) the corporation owned senators and congressmen say no. Interestingly one of Hillory Clintons main election points was an NHS.
