You must consider Abrahamian's curriculum. In the year 2004 he was defeated by Aleksey Mishin. In 2005, 2006, 2007 Ara won no competition. In 2008 he took one bronze medal in the European Championships of Finland -Menguzzi took the same medal in that competition. in addition Menguzzi took another bronze medal in the European Championships of Bulgaria, and in 2008 he defeated Aleksey Mishin, the man who defeated Abrahamian in 2004. Menguzzi is young, but he's stronger than Abrahamian.

First of all this isn't some regular game you play in your backyard. If you could understand this sport you would know how badly he got screwed over. This was probably the worse call ever. The Italian judge was related to the opponent of Abrahamian it was clearly biased. For a world champion like Abrahamian and being cheated out of Gold means EVERYTHING! you forget this guy is a world champion and was training four years for this chance which he was fucked over.

There have been numerous times where FILA has been corrupt. For example in 1993, Melvin Douglas lost to a Russian in the world championship Gold medal match. He shouldn't have lost because there were times where he definitely scored. Eventually they overruled the decision and gave Douglas the medal. This is just another example of FILA trying to have their way. Ara did the right thing and stood up and made everyone pay attention to the corruption inside the great sport of wrestling.
By stepping down and dropping the medal when he did, his protest did not come during the anthem of the winning competitors - I think he handled this in a powerful and deliberate way, and the event will be properly remembered as he wanted it to be, instead of forgotten. Very effective.

Abrahamian could file a complaint but he deliberately violated the Olympic charter. He had no right to act like a 5 year old. The IOC reports: "the Athlete expressed serious unsubstantiated allegations against Fila and its president". The CAS confirmed: "the decision of the IOC Executive Board was not disproportionate in the circumstances".

he was penalised for his hand being in the blue zone and deducted a point he was originally given, that was incorrect, and earlier his opponent had his WHOLE BODY in the blue zone and nothing happened so he demanded a video review of the match, but the referees refused to review the recording of the incidents nor consider the written Swedish protest.

Taking a medal that was awarded through judges penalty points is not lacking self respect. I saw the match, it was a tie, the Italian might have won. I think the Swede was better and probably would have won it. They both got screwed. If the Italian is a good sport he will do the right thing eventually and speak the truth that the IOC doesn't likely want him to. It was either bad calls by an incompetent ref there do to connections or worse, fixed. The Italian didn't do anything wrong.

The video is fake. No judge was italian. The judges/referees were from Cuba, Switzerland and Canada. About Abrahamian, after Athens and from 2004 to 2008 he only won 1 bronze medal in Finland, where you could find many Swedish judges. The same medal was conquered by Minguzzi, who deferated the world champion in Beijing, the russian Mishin.

I like both athletes, I think the IOC needs an athletes union, outside audit, investigations. I hope the Italian reaches out to the Swede and just comes clean and say what I would have said when I was a wrestler. alright so they did cry over one bronze medal but, i saw the match and he was right, why did they award a point to him then take it back and award it to his opponent? the judges ruling was that he had his hand in the blue zone, normally you dont get penalized for it but he did, why? when the italian had almost his whole body in it.and why were the judegs laughing at him, they are supposed to show more respect than the athelets. its not fair that it ended that way.

There have been numerous times where FILA has been corrupt. For example in 1993, Melvin Douglas lost to a Russian in the world championship Gold medal match. He shouldn't have lost because there were times where he definitely scored. Eventually they overruled the decision and gave Douglas the medal. This is just another example of FILA trying to have their way. Ara did the right thing and stood up and made everyone pay attention to the corruption inside the great sport of wrestling.
