You should not judge so quickly. He is not saying that his guitar is redeemed; it is more that the idolatry of music has been crushed but music will still be used to glorify God. Music has in a sense been redeemed from idolatry so that we may now use it for the glory of God. Also all that we do is to be done to the glory of God, whether it is music or watching TV, we are called to live Coram Deo.
So just because this background music may not please you, that does not mean it was not made with the desire to glorify God. As for calling him full of himself, only he and God know his heart (1 Cor 2:11). So just dont be so quick to judge him and be careful of falling into slanderous speech.

Also what is narcissism but pride and idolatry of the self? To be narcissistic is to elevate yourself above everyone else and God. Anything that is not of God is a sin. Therefore, that is a sin.
