  • Hi SverigeJimmy: Really. It took you two months to come up with a response? You've been stewing about this for that long?! I'm finished here. God has better use for my time to serve and glorify Him than to argue with you. It's apparent that it's more important to you to be right and serve yourself, than it is to serve God with humility as He has called us. I will continue to pray for you :).

  • @lolaseattle Serving with humility is what I'm arguing for. You're finished here.

  • @lolaseattle And no, my posts here were from 7 months before you joined in. That was the last time I had logged onto this site.

  • @SverigeJimmy:

It is not your place to judge your brother's heart, this is between him and God. But like Paul, rejoice that he proclaims Christ!

  • @lolaseattle You've done absolutely nothing to refute my claims but attempt to say that I am a hypocrite. Is it hypocrisy to stand up when your religion is being turned into a simple product or commodity? If your willing to defend ANY proclamation of Christ, then you should be defending my position as well. There's hypocrisy for you.

  • @SverigeJimmy: Paul says:

Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from goodwill. The latter do is out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice." - Philippians 1: 15-18.

  • @SverigeJimmy: Wow, you sound just like a Pharisee, speaking of religion! And unfortunately, like a hypocrite. You call this man a narcissist, but reading all your comments, it appears who is the narcissist, but the one who has decided to judge his brother? Who made you judge? Are you God on His throne?

If an alcoholic repents, comes to Christ, and others are motivated to Christ because he shared his story, is he a narcissist? And is that really what matters:

  • @lolaseattle If you've actually read what I have written, my point is that they are battling self-deceit with more self deceit. Your challenges have no relevance to this point.

  • He could idolize music or a guitar without making it or playing it. It was his ability to play that he was focussed on, meaning himself. He's still focussed on himself, but this time with a feeling that his playing has a grand spiritual purpose - Religion enabled narcissism.

  • Thinking your guitar will help your social status is completely different that thinking it's a god. It was your ego's device, and it still is. Can you think of a thought more self-serving than thinking that god has redeemed your guitar, or more egotistical than believing the droney post-rock music you're making is for god or was god's gift to you? You admit to being full of yourself before. Now it feels better than ever, doesn't it? Don't fool yourself.

  • You should not judge so quickly. He is not saying that his guitar is redeemed; it is more that the idolatry of music has been crushed but music will still be used to glorify God. Music has in a sense been redeemed from idolatry so that we may now use it for the glory of God. Also all that we do is to be done to the glory of God, whether it is music or watching TV, we are called to live Coram Deo.

  • So just because this background music may not please you, that does not mean it was not made with the desire to glorify God. As for calling him full of himself, only he and God know his heart (1 Cor 2:11). So just dont be so quick to judge him and be careful of falling into slanderous speech.

  • @fcbarcafcb The problem is that you and the video maker are confusing idolatry with narcissism. The musician was a textbook narcissist. Now, the musician is a textbook religion-enabled narcissist. This is a disorder, not a sin.

  • @SverigeJimmy @SverigeJimmy In biblical sense, idolatry is when you esteem something more than God. To say he made music his god was not to say he bowed to it, but that he was focusing more on what he could do for himself with music than what he could do for God with it. Also what is narcissism but pride and idolatry of the self? To be narcissistic is to elevate yourself above everyone else and God. Anything that is not of God is a sin. Therefore, that is a sin.

  • @fcbarcafcb If the idolatry has been lifted, why do we still see the flamboyantly narcissistic behaviour? It's all about my video, my story, my epiphany, my music, my new cosmic significance, and I'm going to tweet you over and over to come see me play and worship god with me and my music because I haven't changed a bit. People of this type aren't capable of genuine humility, thus God's love is devalued. Unfortunately, this is a growing trend that needs to be confronted, not defended.

  • @SverigeJimmy

It's all about posting the video to help others, It's about telling his story to show people that God can change us, That God gives us epiphanies when we see him, That it's God's music, That God is significant, he is so changed and joyful now that he is in the light that he can't help but share the exciting work God has done in his life. God's love is perfect and unfaltering.

  • @SverigeJimmy Personally I think intellectualism is a great thing. How can we worship God if we do not know who He is? We are called to study and grow in the knowledge of Him. That said, I still think you are attacking something that needn’t be attacked. The video is about his story this is true. It is about this man’s testimony because he wants to share what he went through in an attempt to help others. You judge a man without knowing anything about him and Christian or not, that is just wrong.

  • @SverigeJimmy Is it narcissism to say that you were involved in idolatry and then God brought you out of it? Is it narcissism to make a video using the gifts the God gave you so that you may glorify Him? If so, well than either narcissism means something completely different than what the word thinks it does, or narcissism is a grand thing!

  • @fcbarcafcb Like I already explained; it wasn't idolatry, it was narcissism. Please refer to previous comments if you have any more questions.

  • @SverigeJimmy You word that comment in a way to make it seem like I made a foolish statement. But here is the thing, if it is narcissism, that is a form of idolatry. It is self-worship in a sense. Also it is him idolizing music. He stated that he felt it would "rescue" him. That is loving music above himself. A narcissitic person would not need to be saved by music because he would have himself. I do not see any narcissism. You can twist it and say maybe some pride, but not narcissism.

  • @SverigeJimmy

The growths and trends that are growing that need to be confronted are pride, pessimism, and intellectualism. I'm not one to judge but you may need to asses yourself for all three.

  • @charlie0595 If your method of argument is to say that intellectualism is bad, it's probably best if you don't bother arguing. No argument depends on thought cancelling expressions unless you don't have one. You've paraphrased the video twice which is more than enough. I was personally requested to see this video by one of the producers engaged in his habitual self-promotion. It's not surprising to find it more of the same along with a musical impersonation of Mogwai. Thou shalt not steal?

  • @SverigeJimmy

I'm commenting more on the arrogance that your "supreme, superior intellect" is giving you. Don't believe everything you think. You understand nothing of the context that this video has from a Christian stand-point so your entire arguments are null and void. Use as many large words and make as many accusations as you want, but you don't even understand the subject matter so they are all completely useless and easily tailored to fit your anti-Christian sentiments.

  • @charlie0595 I'm a Christian and have gone to church all my life. Anti-Christian sentiments? Quite the opposite. And because I don't agree with you makes me arrogant? You suggesting so is the definition of arrogance. Please. Am I not a Christian because I think that narcissist Christians can't fully value God's love? Adapting the meaning of idolatry from how it is clearly defined in the bible is enabling this problem. You can't know what I do or don't understand, so lay off the commands.

  • God's faithfulness in spite of our foolishness is just amazing.

  • Wonderful!

  • I wish I had never click on this video. My god that is one sexy sweater vest though.

  • Would be an excellent commercial for Keller's "Counterfeit gods: The Empty Promises of Money, Sex, and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters"
