Wow. ..can't wait to see him live..... Wish you much happiness and success, for all of your dedication and hard work....alu kae hau....stage name hhhmm
Not only is Tau a fantastic singer, he is a very sweet person. I'm so proud to say I "knew him when". I'm thrilled for his success, and I am rooting for him. He has a unique life story, and it just goes to show that if you have talent, and desire, combined with hard work and perserverance, you really can do anything!
I just heard about him on NPR yesterday. He's a Tanglewood fellow thus summer and performing the role of Bacchus in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos at Tanglewood this week. The other great thing is that Dame Kiri TeKanawa (also Polynesian) has really been his champion and "sponsor". If not for her, we may never had heard of him!
Why the hell did you tag Bocelli? This guy's infinitely better than the former. Yes, he will need a stage name for sure...I first heard of him about a year ago from a few friends and I was amazed at what I heard after looking into some of his work. But I couldn't remember his name! Singing's good, voice is good, diction is not so good and Italian is not so good. Can be worked on. Great voice, best I've heard in a long time as I said in your other post.
@GermanOperaSinger: Nix on the stage name. I have no doubt he is proud of his Polynesian heritage. I always think of what actor Ioan Gruffudd said when his agent suggested he change his name because it appeared unpronounceable: "They can say 'Schwarzeneggar' can't they?"
Absolutely stunning. WHAT A VOICE!!!!! This young man is sure to be a huge star. I've not heard such a clear, effortless, and huge sound in any other young tenor singing today.
Thank goodness! I thought no one was watching. And all I got from anyone else was VinyltoVideo's "meh". Thanks for your appreciation of this artist! :)
Well, I guess that'll be up to him. I personally think it's incredible that he's willing to keep his Polynesian heritage evident in his name. I do see your point though...lol. What did you think about, you know, his singing? :)
Really?!? You don't have to, but I'm interested in why you are "meh". In all seriousness. I think he's pretty incredible, especially when you consider the others singing this role recently.
I simply mean to try and go without being completely stupid. I hate when young artist's are dashed in people's minds because they aren't quite on Pavarotti's level. I feel that this tenor is spectacular so I don't feel the need to put up with people who say things like, "OMG! HE SUX!" or "VIVA *Insert name of tenor here*". Thanks for the comment though!

Superb. A really moving interpretation of this somewhat hackneyed solo. This young man is going to be one of the greats.

Wow...that is a massive and massively beautiful voice. We need more singers like him, why is he not more famous? What purity of tone.

If he's ever going to be "up and coming" he'll need a stage name.
