  • Well then lets put it this way All these skaters who had no education and no other career were given there only jobs and go found out after they quit where they went to work,7 Eleven and other great jobs,Ann Covello died penniless.Where are Sandy Dunn,Bill Groll do you know,Bill Griffiths saw the day coming where you had to have showmanship more that atletics like Vince McMahon did with wrestling. The skaters were stupid to quit they could have made it work but by quitting all the jobs dried up

  • @rockytheyorky yeah but going from skating in a league that stressed hard skating in a good game then being put in one where putting on a show and following silly story lines was emphasized is a tough transition. That's why I quit. After I came back to L.A. all we had was the Games teams and I really didn't like that junk. I mean, they even had one time where an infield manager used this swirly light thing to hypnotize Danny Reilly so he would fight his own teammates. That was a joke.

  • @lasktguy If you want to re-live the classic roller derby, I know a great way to do it. The board game Roller Rumble from PLAAY.com is a fantastic (IMO) re-creation of the banked track sport. There are numerous skater sets for the game including the Legends teams like the Bombers, Chiefs, Pioneers, Jolters, etc. O'Connell and Calvello are skating again anytime I want on my tabletop!

  • @HoustonRules thanks. Sounds cool. I'll check it out.

  • Wow I think I attended this game at Madison Square Garden! I think a highlight of the afternoon was a "match race" involving Charlie O'Connell against another skater.

  • I know how you feel lasktguy my uncle delivered Buddy Atkinson Jr,Mail and I was going to go to the eastern Warriors training center at the Phila Arena and when i was just ready The roller games shut down..I was made to be the bad guy ona team.I would have made Ronnie rains look like Cinderella

  • @rockytheyorky that really stinks. On top of that Griffiths made such a mess of the merged league that it was embaressing. All the derby skaters quit within a year and went off and tried to start their own league. All that Roller games junk was not what they wanted to do and I don't blame them. Griffiths at least has finally admitted that he did screw the whole thing up.

  • @lasktguy nobady lesteen ta laskyteguy hez nutten butta winee beetch

  • @MegaBigassnigga hi again you uneducated piece of trash. I see this time you didn't get a single word correct. It must be depressing to be as stupid as you. Now run along. The adults are talking.

  • @lasktguy man yo rasest oll yu du is falow a nigga aroun now ran ulong now da niggas is tokin

  • The New York Chiefs had the best vocal fans at Madison Square Garden. We were loud, proud, and fierce.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • I'll never forgive Seltzer for closing derby down. There must have been something else he could have done. Plus I had just moved to San Fransisco and was training in hopes of getting onto the Bombers when it happened. I ended up going back to L.A. and skating with Games but it just wasn't as good,

  • lol, but the title said MAYHEM....I must have blinked.....but I loved seeing the video.

  • The IRDL would end less than a month after this game was skated. Too bad...it was wonderful!

  • Solid gameplay here.

  • lets chat
