For the record, garden-variety sugar isn't glucose. If you want pure glucose, try non-HF corn syrup, which is up to 98% glucose. Table sugar is a disaccharide of 50% glucose, 50% fructose. HFCS is a slurry of monosaccharides at 55% fructose, 45% glucose. It is possible the 5% difference or the chemical change make a difference. I don't think the science is in yet.
That said, HFCS costs much less than table sugar, so it's far easier to take in too much sweetener, which will make you fatter.
HFCS is very highly processed, with similar amounts of unbound fructose and glucose whereas sucrose is a larger sugar molecule that metabolizes into glucose and fructose during digestion.
Glucose in sugars are converted to blood glucose, the 145 pounds of HFCS Americans eat metabolizes to triglycerides and adipose tissues - NOT blood glucose.
Sucrose (also known as cane sugar) is 50 percent fructose. Not much different than HFCS. So really, if fructose is so bad, we should avoid sugar in general. Eat complex carbohydrates (pasta, potatoes, ...) and lay off the crappy food.
Imagine a world where the FDA actually are there to protect the people instead of corporations. High fructose corn syrup would be banned nationwide in the US.
Sweet suprise "experts" are paid off by the HFCS manufactures moron. Of course they will say that lie. Democracy Now has already confirmed that Mecrury is in it as well as RFK JR. I would rather believe AMy Goodman and RFK JR over "experts" that are paid off by the makers of the syrup.
Ha! That might explain why I couldn't get enough pecan pie when I learned to make them from scratch a few years ago. Quit when I gained the weight. Took me two months to get skinny again. Don't do sodas, either. But dang, I miss those homemade pecan pies!
P.S. L-Glutamine (sp) reduces sugar cravings for those who are fighting the sweet tooth...

Sugar and HFCS are both equally bad, when they are consumed without fiber (mercury issues aside). Drink water!
