  • I wish my haggard look were from living for Christ my entire life; however, it is not. But. . . I know my Redeemer lives and I am forgiven. Are we all called to live like Rich ? I do not know, but I know Who does. . . ask Him and be willing to go where ever He leads - the journey will be awesome if we are willing to follow Him step by step all of our days!

May Christ live deeply in your heart where the good soil is, so that your Faith will not be uprooted by the storms of life.

  • In tears.

RIP - Rich Mullins. You are seriously missed here on the big blue ball.

Your spirit lives through many that you have influenced over the years.

  • If we could get back to Rich and the video for a sec? :)

I have this video, got it the day it came out - such a blessing. I just love this man so much. I am looking fr a specific part to post to a friend's FaceBook page and hope someone will help. It is where Rich talks about .. um... not living in a perfect little house in a perfect town where there are no gays or minorities...

Help is appreciated! I just cut my hand in a fan and am trying to get this done before i pass all the way out. Oww

  • Is your hand OK?

  • @amylh322

    Part 5, 8:20 into it

Hope your hand is doing better....

  • @amylh322 "not living in a perfect little house in a perfect town where there are no gays or minorities..."

If you watch all these concert videos it's in here, just watched all of them, don't remeber which one. Did U ever find it? Did your hand heal?

  • @martinmertens - Hi! I didn't know there were responses, i was looking for one of Mitch McVicker's songs and ended up back here. My hand is in pretty bad shape, i'll page back to see if i can catch up on the rest of this! :)

  • Rich is playing a hammer dulcimer. Sometimes he plays another version of this instrument called a "lap" dulcimer. Do I live for Jesus? Let's just say I haven't sold all that I have and given to the poor, which is required. Belief is not enough.

  • whitewookee Belief and faith are the keys. God doesn't care if you give all you have away. What you are talking about is a conversation Jesus had with a rich man. Jesus told him to sell all he had and give the money to the poor. What Jesus was saying is that you can't buy your way into heaven. The things you do on earth show your heart. Jesus wanted him to show his heart. It was a test and the man just as you failed this test. Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

  • This test was not an isolated event with one rich man to test him. This was required. It is completely voluntary, but it concerned selling out to Jesus. You cannot hold onto anything, including people you love. You must come to him and die to yourself. Faith compels action. You have to renounce everything and recieve Jesus.

  • Jesus's love is not conditional. Ephesians 2:8-9 (New International Version) 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast

John 3 16 assures us that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son and that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  • Luke 9:24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. Whitewookee what earthly possessions could be more valuable then the riches of heaven? If you are afraid to lose the ones you love then share your faith with them and let them come with you on your journey.

  • True Jesus love is not conditional. True we cannot be saved by ourselves. But you miss the point. God calls us to die to ourselves, our will, our world. We all fail at this. That is what grace is for. That is the power of the cross. We are weak, but we must try. God does care that we are not bound to our families, and our things. I

  • So I ask you have you lost your life for his sake? Have you truly died so that he can resurrect you spiritually? Or have you said "I have faith." I say if you have faith, you must also have evidence of your own death.

  • It's not about giving up your life as a sacrifice. Jesus died so you don't have to die that's the whole point my friend. If we were required to die for our faith Jesus' death would be invain. Jesus died for us so that we could live for him. He only asks that you accept his gift of salvation. He only asks that you live within his commandments. Even then he knows you will break them but he will forgive you. Anyone can be a martyr but it's better to live for your faith then to die for it.

  • What is the instrument Rich is playing?

  • Since you asked me if I live for Jesus, I must ask you, are you an instrument for Him? If so, (and I think you are) in what way?

  • Oh, I also want to make clear that I am not afraid to lose the ones I love. I am merely pointing out how hard it is to do. You miss the point, You come to Christ alone you can't bring them with you.

  • @whitewookee

Hi :) I agree that conversion is a process, and we *do* have to submit everything in our lives to God. Anything we hold back and aren't willing to let go of...will hold us back. Let go and let God! I think Rich Mullins is a great example of someone who did this, though it is a hard life to live. We can't all be Saint Francis of Assisi!

  • I disagree: I think we are all supposed to just like Francis. That should be the "normal" not the wimpy Christian lives most of us live most of the time.

(love your screen name, by the way!)

  • True...we are all called to live the gospel radically, and Jesus spits out the lukewarm. But, it's also worth pointing out that part of *why* Francis was able to embrace such radical poverty is because he had no family to support - he was celibate, like Rich Mullins, like Jesus. But most of us are called by God to be married and raise families, so I think that has a lot to do with not living this lifestyle. Parents aren't 'wimps' for wanting to provide for their children - they sacrifice too.

  • What's so great about Rich? He looks like he's about to collapse. His skin is weathered, his face is expressionless, like a man who has emerged from a torture chamber. So I ask you what is so great?

  • What is great about Rich is his music ministry for Jesus! Rich lived for Jesus! Do You?

  • "Sometimes the morning came too soon" -- it does seem Rich's was too soon.

"There was so much work left to do" -- was he really finished?

"But so much you'd already done" -- he did do so much while he was here.

"This song will sound better if you sing it than if i have to sing it by myself" -- let us all be about God's work in the time that we have. There is so much work to do.

  • It is so true of what I heard said of Rich.. He could stand at the abyss of the human soul see it's struggles and not be afraid to write about them. We were so blessed to be able to share in his gifts that he was given, his heart of song got me through many struggles more than any other writer of music. It was a sad but Blessed day he was called home, may we all sing with him one day in the company of angels and be blessed with what his eyes see also.

  • LOVE CREED I do Believe it, I do Believe it, I do Believe it.

  • Thank you Rich!! Thank you Rich!

  • your music is so precious to me!! thank you Rich!every time im feeling down i watch your videos, and thay lift me up,i thank God for you,Praise the Lord!

    love ya Rich!!

  • Iv only been watching Rich Mullins videos for a few months, and thay are so wonderful and such a blessing to me!thank God for Rich!

    love ya

    RICH!

  • yes! ;o)

  • Thank you!!!

  • Thank God for Rich! i watch him over and over!he is such a blessing to me!

  • I agree, Rich was so truthful, so real, he had a part in my acceptance of Christ and the knowledge that soon followed.

Truly, he was gift from God above.

  • The thing about Rich and his ministry is that you know when he walks off that stage he is another brother trying live what he believes to best of his ability. He admits his struggles but praises the Lord for strength through Christ. There is no religious front with Rich like you see in many of todays christian artists. Rich gave the good, the bad and the ugly to help explain "the restless raging fury that they call the love of God."

  • It's so hard to put into words how i feel about this brother of ours...it will be cool to catch up with him sometime though.

  • We will see him again, and what a chorus of "Step by Step" it will be.

  • It made me cry to hear Rich's SOMETIMES BY STEP...I do miss him.Thank you for this video!

  • just curious..he looks real wipe out in this concert.. does anyone know why ? was it poor health, medication ? thanks..overall I love this song..thanks marcosagostos

  • Thank you very much! I felt like God was speaking through Rich to me. God bless your work! It is very nice to serve God! Jesus! All the glory to him. I like his comment " We all going to die than I want to do something I love and glorify him."

    Psalm 23!

  • I was at Rich's last Indiana concert in August 1997 - his artistry and message still speak so well!
