@TheDriver713 Not necessarily. In Germany for instance, there are special rules for self made cages, which are usually much harder than a certificated cage. Go to your countries Motorsport Association website for informations.
My recommendation: If there is a certificated cage for your car, take that one. You will save time, nerves and probably weight.
@TheDriver713 if you are in america a roll cage will not fail inspection.. before you make a cage look at either the SCCA, or NHRA for the specs if you plan to race. DO NOT BUY a cage. typically speaking the ones you can buy are worthless...
@TheDriver713 All this guy bought was a bunch of pre bent tubes. A cage isnt certified until after it is installed and welded. The design has to meet certain requirements, as well as the diameter, wall thickness and type of tubing used. If you have a tube bender, there is absolutely no reason to pay someone else to prebend it for you. Then again, if you are asking this question its likely you dont have the resources at your disposal to build the cage yourself.
@TheSelfIndulgence ppcmag.co.uk if you use the forum on there they will hewlp big time. i guess your after a modified car. best to check the regulations to make sure you will be given a logbook for the car cant rally without one and sometimes the engine car combinations arent allowed you can ask me if you have any other questions too i built my own rally car in ireland and its pretty close rules wise
@TheSelfIndulgence Sorry, i have no clue about the english Rallyscene. All i know is that your clubrally-system is pretty different from the german one. Join your local motosport club, i guess they can help you.
@TheSelfIndulgence the e30´s are very popular rally cars here in Germany, especially the 318. There´s a cup - w w w . rg318is.de - you contact them if you want to build a rally car. Dont waste they time with street cars. Audi is seldom. Maybe w w w .4-rallye.de can help. Again only for rally cars.
When I saw the car getting yellow and black, I thought it was really ugly... But in the end, with the Staedtler stickers on it, I thought it was so original! The car is supposed to look like a Staedtler pencil! :)
Joder, me estaba gustando hasta que vi como le ponían la luna con el retrovisor aún pegado y el ambientador de pino aún colgando!!!!!!!!!! joder que asco.
I know is mandatory to have the knowledge on how to weld, knowledge in electric system, have the space to work, proper tools, some help and GOD know what else, but Jesus in Heaven i would love to do that to my future car some day!!!
&
it would be awesome to find a video where mechanics explain what type of material and tools they use and how they make the changes of the car step by step, would be awesome.
My brother, Dad and me had a 6 cyl from pistons out to running in under 45 minutes. So 10 days is believeable. Helps to have th right tools (e.g. hoists) etc. and the know how.
@RallyeGermany.
i wouldnt's give the car a logbook if i was a scrutineer, FIA regs stage the cage needs to be a triangulated box section at the cross over point of the cage!!
Well, everything in the video happened in ten days. Which part of building a rally car do you miss, if starting with a regular chassis isn´t the beginning?
what was the total cost of this build? for shell and all parts...looking at building a fund for a build of my own
twistyfish 1 week ago
@twistyfish Hard to say, because we rebuild it and didn´t bought a lot new.
You get used cars like this for 10000-15000 Euro.
Building your own cost a lot more.
