  • To those who don't know: RAT = Ram Air Turbine, and it is used, as stated below, in emergency situations where the engines are unable to generate electricity to keep critical flight systems online (i.e. a dual engine failure). The RAT deploys and generates electricity for those aircraft systems to use.

  • @DV5230US + when the APU is non functional for whatever reason also.

  • @claudp i would imagine the apu not functioning from fuel starvation

  • @DV5230US and hydraulic pressure

  • So that's what a RAT looks like in real life!

  • A321?

  • @G4mingDelux3 No :), es el Airbus A320. Actualmente, Vueling sólo tiene aviones Airbus A321, pero hace poco ha hecho un pedido de unos A319. Un saludo!

  • what is the use of it? its that little thing that popped out of the belly at the last few seconds rit?

  • @barcacrazy99 In case of an emergency and an engine failure the RAT will move the aircraft like a little propeller on a prop aircraft. Boeing also has this on their aircraft too.

  • @fsx767 That's not true. It generates electricity to provide the main functions of the aircraft to keep working, like the panels and the steering which all run on electricity.

  • @zendium91 yes, the point I'm trying to get across is that it is used in an emergency situation. You are right though

  • @barcacrazy99 its usefull if the engine fail. then this little thing can generate electricity. you understand?i hope my english is not bad :-)

  • @ArianG93 haha dont worry Your English is PERFECTO!!!

  • nice

  • aweesome

  • cool !
