  • is that a male and a female dempsy

  • @chrisDR0 appears to be a male and female. most females have coloring mostly around the gill plate while males have the color over most of their body.

  • Where's the Jaguar cichild?

  • iridesent sharks need at least a 500gallon tank at the minimum if smaller its organs will be squashed growth stunned and you will be stuck with a suffocating to death id shark!

  • 500 gallon is only 109 uk gallons, he's pretty much there.

  • when you treat them make sure the water quality is really goodk

  • i had 2 id sharks they had white spots on them ... i treated them and they still died could u tell me what might of been wrong with them

  • same thing happend to my fish the spots left and she is still alive

  • Hey man those are some nice jacks,

i just inherited a iridescent shark too and i already have a jack dempsey and i was wondering if you ever had trouble with your jack getting too aggressive with your ID shark?

  • how many gallons can your tank hold?

  • ya dovii can get between 25 and 30 inchs not to menchon the emperor that is giant also peacock my personal fav

  • my jack dempsey is on a tank of his own because he was agressive to the other fish so they got moved into a new tank. For some reason mine is really shy and only comes out when the light is off. He spends most of his time in abit of wood hidden away. Wish he would swim around abit more :(

  • most cichlids grow over a foot long

  • Those are some awesome looking Dempseys.

  • ciclids grow that big i thought they only grew about 5 in"

  • they can grow up to 10 inches

  • no cichlids range greatly. sheldwellers can stay under a mere two inches while others get giant. the jack dempseys do grow up to ten inches but not every cichlid gets ten inches

  • that is true i was just refering to the jack dempseys lol my badz. their is many different special of cichilds

  • not allof them only a couple do

  • I just got a small id shark about 2 inches. I cant wait till it gets bigger. How long do you think it will take to grow to about 6-8 inhes?Whats the growth rate? Any answers will be greatly appreciated!

  • how many galloons is ur tank?

  • 90 read the description

  • my id shark turned all white any help plz

  • Sounds like "ich", a water parasite which can affect your fish; better clean up your water conditions and treat it. Use your favourite search engine and look up "aquarium ich". It isn't necessarily fatal to the fish, but they can die if it goes untreated for too long.

  • well he swims and eats etc the same but maybe cuz ive just started giving them FEEDER FISH lol 9 gone in 2 days is that normal

    btw thxs hopefully its nothing

  • umm mabe it was a cause of feeder fish i know that many goldfish can carry diseases =/

  • Yeah xxownyoasxx is right it could be desceise or parasite ni your new feeder fish check with your retailer and ask them:) Good Luck.

  • the id shark can eat feeders?//////?????

  • @scottschiller

Ich does not turn a fish completely white. It looks like white spots(i would know, it destroyed a whole community aquarium I had.)

  • hey isnt tht a paroon shark?? i dont think its a ID shark

  • I have a pond too and I wouldnt put the ID shark in one because of the temperature. They need the heater

  • very pretty fish

  • nice tank, but it should be better planted

  • do you ever feed your id shark live feeders?

  • how about for two?

  • Eventually a 120g would probably be too small for two. Try searching online for some fish/aquarium forums, you can find more "professional" advice there!

  • do you think a single id shark can live in a 120 gallon tank for its whole life or is that a temporary thing

  • I imagine opinions differ, but 120 gallons might be OK. Ideally you'd want something probably at least that large, just for a single one given they get to be pretty big.

  • 120 can be temporary just for atleast a year or 2 then you need sometihng like a 180 then 240 then a 300 or just make an indoor pond for them beast..

  • i hav an outside pond wiht goldfishes but i want to add some id sharks in ther....do i hav to wrry abt the temperature?? i heard tht catfishes can live in almost all conditions

  • well it might work but how is the temperature we are talking about here in your pond? and is it always cold around your area? if so you may need to heat the pond up to atleast 74-76 degrees... =] so you can have your goldfishes and your ID sharks too =]

  • well, the temperature is in the 60s - 70s most of the year.....the coldest wud be 30 and it'll only last for a week

  • but also.....i have two heaters

  • how many watts does your heaters give out into your pond? if they are more than 300 watts then good

  • i believe they r 100w each but i can get more :P hw much shud i get??

  • well to get a better and cheaper solution...go to homedepot or lowes and get their heaters within 1000 watts to 4000 watts

  • ok...thx

  • t Iridescent shark is amazing.

  • dempseys are so cool... i luv it when their gills start to glow...way cool

  • KuL` !!

  • thats a nice pair of jacks, did they breed?

  • I also have an ID shark...well actually 5 of them, but only one is big. He is now about 14 inches...and he is with about 7 other fish in a 90 gall. By the way great tank!

  • hey man nice choice in fish i got 2 baby iridescent sharks and a jack dempsey but your ID shark is huge how long did he take to get that big

  • I inherited it from a friend, it was already fairly large. You'll want to have at least a 90-gallon tank when yours grow, they're really not fish I'd recommend for your typical aquarium. Do a search for "iridescent shark", you may find some more info.

  • Check out my Jack Dempsey and Iridescent Shark TOO!

  • I love your tank dude

  • Hi Buddy nice tank i love the shark i have 3 myself just wanted to know how big and how long did you have yours i will post my tank soon

  • The iridescent was around a foot long, give or take. If you have three, make sure you've got a big tank - I had a 90 gallon there and that seemed hardly large enough just for the one!

  • Oh wow chweck out waht a moron i am keepign such a big creature in a small tank. Do you think it would stay in such a small area if it was in it'as natural habitat JERK OFF

  • I actually agree, I inherited the fish from a neglected tank with nearly-black water and no pump running and gave him a better home. Consider it the lesser of two evils.

  • Thats an impressive tank... Nice shark...
