padkontrol is just a controller...no preset sounds.

what do you mean? This thing cannot make sound.. it only generates midi or control messages. You have to hook it to a sampler or synthesizer (or computer with routed software synth or sampler) to create a sound.

well now i have 2 padKontrols...and i still want to know how to do this. though whenever i search for the sequencer template all i can find is stuff for pk[squared]

Awesome! I got a PadKontrol and I didn't know you could do such things with it. Opens a whole new set of options.

can make the step seq function work in logic too ? or just live ?

I think the template just sends and receives midi signals to/from each channel of the padKontrol. It could probably be duplicated in Logic. There wasn't anything really specific to Live except the effects (Beat Repeat, SupaTrigga VST, etc.).

Thanks a lot! I have the padKontrol hooked up straight to Live. I found a template on the Ableton forums that generated the step sequencer functionality.
