I always loved this man and his amazing talent! Never knew what he was going to do next. The most talented artist who's still going. I'm sure I can speak for many, "we love you Neil!!" Your music has been a part of my life since I'm a kid and now....when I'm not! What a ride!
It was all great--Neil was, as always, droll and real, and Eddie hit all the right notes. One thing that was unfortunate though, is the complete absence of any music, album cover shots, or video between Harvest and Hurricane. Nothing from Time Fades Away, Tonight's the Night, On the Beach, or Zuma, the last 3 among his very best albums. At least Eddie mentioned TNT. I know his catalogue was too vast, even 15 years ago now, to include everything, but at least TNT deserved some clip.
@Santana004 back in the 90's they had a huge fude with TM, PJ were taking on the large rip off corp and standing up for their fans and what they believe in.
no, it's 25 years after a first release before a "performer" can be inducted. bleach was 1989 (i think) so nirvana will be on the ballot in a few years. rnr hof website has inductees and nominees on it if you're interested
@FuckYourComment89 why do ppl always have to include cobain in everything??? i think young deserves to be praised for his talent and leave cobain out of it.
what are you talking about?? And how can you possibly call Eddie Vedder a dirtbag? You must know nothing about him, his music or what he stands for. Pearl Jam are heavily inspired by Neil Young, have performed with him, and pay tribute to him constantly. Eddie Vedder is a musician, a songwriter - not a public speaker. Plus this was taped at a time when Vedder was a young man, and having a very hard time dealing with the fame his musical talent had brought him. Just thought ya should know!!
Yes, Eddie Vedder is amazing and a lovely person. How can someone not love him? He's adorable and an amazing musician. I liked how he pointed out that Neil Young is Canadian. Ha!
You know whats funny, the God of grung has outlived kurt, pearl jam, soundgarden etc, there's no grung left but yet he still rocks it out! this guy is unreal
Pearl Jam is and always has been around...I agree with your comment, but dont know what you mean because PJ never broke up and are comin out with an album in September!!
Hi, I been Neil Young fan since the 70's and to make my comment short and to the point, his one of the best musicans in rock history, don't know if number five or whatever, just the best.
I guess I have never really understood people ..Not to say i cant think well..Just cant understand soo manys actions..I guess thats why I love Neil Young so much..He keeps it real and That is what make true sense to me..The word Legend is a word that has lost much of its meaning, But in every positive sense of the word, Neil Certainly is one...My life is richer for Neil being here when I have been too.. Thanks for leading by example Neil, You always do what is true..Peace, Medley
wow eddie vedder looks young! ha ha, can't stop laughing when i see this. Neil Young is a hell of a musician, and who is best for putting him into the hall of fame! Eddie Vedder! Eddie is so AWESOME!
Eddie has never really done public speaking well...though he has gotten better in recent years, playing with the crowds more. I found his comments on Ticketmaster HI-LARIOUS.
Well I don't know how you can measure that, but to me, he's always seemed like a pretty good public speaker. He can win the crowd over. well sure, he stammers and doesn't really enunciate very well, but it always feels like he's being honest and speaking from his heart. that's all I care.
At 4'04", when the montage is ending, there is a song on piano (it's between Helpless and Change Your Mind). Just a few notes are played, anyone know what song that is?
I love people who make me puke and laff and oversleep, and miss appointments, who make me sing and play til both my hands and throat are bloody, who let me cry to poetry, who are unflinching kick ass rockers who can pull out a lullaby in front of a dying fire at 5am and make me want to be alive. I love people like that who've been there for most of my life, always over my shoulder urging me onward. I love Neil Young! Thanx, Eddie, I love you too, man!
Eddie Vedder's been up at that podium so many times, for The Ramones, R.E.M. and, of course, Neil Young, but I wonder if he will induct Pearl Jam... lol
can someone post the track listing 2 the songs playing when it comes on"
It starts out with a live version of "Mr. Soul" and then goes into a quick snippet of "Broken Arrow" faded with "The Loner" and then a longer clip from "Cinnamon Girl." This is followed by a live CSN&Y version of "Down by the River." Neil originally did the first 2 with Buffalo Springfield, not sure whether the live version of "Mr. Soul" is Buffalo Springfield or solo. Hope this helps.
I hope I'm part of the popular demand! :) Thanks for sharing...more rock and roll history that needs to be seen. Thank you Neil and thanks Eddie...You BOTH mean so much to me.
the man is an epic example of the human mind, body and spirit
long may he run, though nothing will ever stop him from evolving, changing, shapeshifting, reforming, restarting or growing, even after his spirit outlives his body
god bless neil young, and thanks for all the great lessons you've taught this 18 year old boy. i've much more to learn
It's one of the few times at that period where Eddie looked really happy.
