I absolutely agree with you about the superiority of this duet to Pur ti miro ( which, as modern editions of the opera point out, was not written by Monteverdi, but by Francesco Sacrati). The whole scene, beginning with Signor, oggi rinasco, and including the duet, ne piu s'interpora, included here, has so much more energy and inventiveness than Sacrati's finale.

It's not from an opera production. It's from a compilation CD with famous duets called "Bellezza Vocale"".

Thanks for the info, I was surprised Jennifer Larmore was in an Early Opera. She does beautifully though.

In the early 1990's Jennifer Larmore did sing this repertoire. There's at least one recording of L'incoronazione with Larmore singing the role of Ottavia, René Jacobs conducting. I think she later switched to other repertoire. I just checked it.
