  • This guy is a moron. Poor Tchaikovsky.

  • He's so funny....and a genius!

  • Honestly, I think Evgeny Kissin and Herbert von Karajan did a much better job than this. If you want to listen to that, delete /watch?v=VKA65IEPw0Q from the address bar and add /watch?v=jgcR9zmIhYA&feature=related. Even someone I know (who is Asian just like Lang Lang) thinks his movements are extremely exaggerated and that they pretty much ruined his playing. There is absolutely nothing racist of this. I agree - It's SIMPLY the MUSIC that counts, not facial expressions or obvious movements.

  • Whether or not he is your favorite pianist, this

man is doing some awesome, insightful things with timing, and has jaw-dropping

speed and cleanliness. That doesn't come easily, and is reminiscent of Horowitz.

Think about criticizing when you can play that piece accurately, up to speed . . . or

when you can make interesting comparisons between, say, Cliburn and Argerich. Till then,

    please don't spew hatred.

  • For his anatomically more flexable fingers, Lang Lang could have surpass Voladimir Horowitz. With could have I mean, if he learns to respect music, and practice hard for sometime like 20 years. I suppose, however, even after that 20 years he'll still keep his facioplegia lol.

  • Each pianist has his/her habits when playing the piano. After all, it's the music that counts.

  • It is not these racist comments that will change anything.

Come on why do u comment on how he is. We should comment on u instead.

  • He is so cute and plays so brilliantly!!!!!

  • Made in China, and you never now what will happen. Cleaning your fingernails in this concerto is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(((((((((( He is crazy, in the sick way. You can't mess with these concerto.

    He belong in a circus.

But the most important is that te people pays a lot off monney for this joker, and thats what count

    Robert

  • @greenjumper1960 For people to pay big bucks to go to his concert, proves that he has skills that ordinary people do not have. Even 3 year olds know to not judge people by their appearance and background. In fact, you're not even comparable to him. So either you fuck off, or prove to us that you are better.

  • @xoxolindayoo He can play the piano, he can play the note's, but he don't play music.

He is a monney maker and is puched to do this acrobatie on the piano, baecause the people pay for it.

It's discusting what he do with this concerto and other pieces. But maybe when he is older, he understand the mistakes and maybe he start then playing music, thats the day we wil see the Great Lang Lang

    Robert

  • @xoxolindayoo That's like saying Lady Gaga has great skills because people go to her concerts. Public approval is often undeserved. He isn't a horrible pianist, but he isn't one of the greats either - frankly, he's mainly a showoff. Whether or not any of us are better or not is irrelevant, even the amateur can tell the difference between a Horowitz and a Lang Lang.

  • @greenjumper1960 hey why don't you learn how to spell money first...

  • 好棒~~但是也感覺小動作好多,有點做作XDXDDD

  • ...wow, 1 in 4 are DISLIKES, yes, keep it up you dislike people, I am beginning to fall in love with all of you, the negative-discerning you-tubers...LL fucks it up here something terrific...how did this pianist EVER get the reputation he has?...his fans are more severely fucked-up degenerates than I ever suspected...at least you can't say that I am some kind of a fucking RACIST...I am not insulting HIM but YOU...

  • what they say for asian talented people are always the same.

stupid , good technic, better music . they might not really enjoy music.what is the stupid face? the word only show the person is a terrible racist. I was really shocked for these elements on comment board and felt like the western people betraded us. china borned become so great is very unconceivable hard for western people. besides i am japanese.

  • @717violin A lot of us white people (me included) are just losing our will to carry on (both living individually and civilization). Too many justified (and many unjustified) attacks on us of being called racist or sexist. But, also, just a change in attitude: we know infinite growth on a finite planet is impossible, and now we cannot stop the (economic) beast we created.

  • unbelievably great playing !! but I cannot understand why people can be so excited to abuse him .it is unbelievable defamation for him. and too much worse words what we (asian) feel for the white people!

  • @717violin I wrote faulse. too much worse words than we felt and praised the white people. perhap my 1st senetence makes misunderstanding.

  • 天才!天才!天才!

  • So many stupid faces

  • @waguinhocam So many stupid comments...

  • Why are these movements "unnecessary?" He is an artist; he is expressing himself. Isn't that the purpose of music? I think we can all agree on that. His playing may be a bit rigid, but he plays with power and passion. I believe it is those things that make music what it is. If you want to hear music without the above, listen to a computer-generated recording. I'll take a real, breathing human being with the faces, movements and all anyday, as opposed to an automaton.

  • Magic....

  • BOOM!

  • i really hate his face...he screw that beautiful music....:(

  • @winda9643 The best Way - Close your eyes

  • @winda9643 Usually the audience would not be right up in his face like a camera. He would have a little more privacy for his unconscious expressions. He is delivering the solo passages cleanly and musically -- I think his last two-hand, four-octave unison bravura solo was a little pressed, but it's a matter of interpretation. It was still delivered well. (Martha Argerich has about the perfect performance on that passage.) The rest was very impressive.

  • @winda9643 you're really stupid if you need to watch someone's face to listen to music...

  • He's a music actor not a music pianist, like Vengerov! I'm sorry, I say this with all respect but it's the truth! Argerich, Horowitz, Rubinstein, Arrau, Richter etc, played with no stupid faces or unnecessary movements and they made MUSIC that made cry! This made me laugh! I'm sorry! What a shame!

  • (continue) Why so many stupid faces and UNNECESSARY MOVEMENTS? Vladimir Horowitz played piano as if he were ASLEEP! And he was one of the greatest in the history, no stupid faces, no unnecessary movements etc! But why he play like that? Because that is what people want to see and that sells lots of money! A lot of people SEE but they don't LISTEN! Is the same shit as Maxim Vengerov: lot of satupid faces, movements, tense and no music and now he cannot play violin!

  • Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhaahahahahahhaa!!!! I'm very very sorry but I have to laugh!! Lets put something clear here: he's a CLOWN, yes, a clown because he is acting because all his stupid faces! He "doesn't" have a good technique and I put "doesn't" because he play very tense and he hits very hard the keys of the piano and a pianist with a good technique would never played like that!! I'm sorry but ther is no music here, and I say this with all respect!!

  • Nice to listen to, but can't stand to watch him. Those faces are stupid

  • 1:57 He looks like some kind of bird..Most probably a gay one.

  • Comment removed

  • Lang Lang is the only pianist that can play this work as well as Horowitz. Not even Volodos or Argerich can.He is a superpianist, and a miracle to behold. This may account for the jealousy of those that have no talent whatsoever.

  • I like so much ... I think he's very good.. and he feel de music! I loved it

  • @anainesgp And He's acting !

  • hmm, I don't like the faces he does. And I don't think he puts enough energy in it

  • sehr sehr beeindruckend grandiose Technik! PETERSEN

  • Absolutely amazing! On a par with his performance of the Liszt "Don Juan Fantasy." I have no idea why his detractors are so vocal. He's a genius of the first order.

  • ein spielendes Computer....

  • Lol. For all you people out there hating Lang Lang's facial expressions and his over-acting body language, I can totally understand that, but it also shows his amazing piano skills. "No musical sense in his playing." Oh well, as a piano player for over 15 years I can say that if you really want to express the "musical sense" inside the music, technique is the MOST important thing.

  • i wish the camera man can avoid his facial action. it's funnier than Mr. bean

  • 5:01 like a little child : I'm bored.. I want to start now !!!

  • This stunning performance is the only one that can compare to the Horowitz/Toscanini war bonds concert of 1943.I would pay a good price for this on DVD.

  • look at his face from 6:35-6:40

what's up wit the conductor? he got no stick his conducting sucks.

OVERALL, LANG LANG IS AWESOME! GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hifredyo123456789 I disagree. I think he has the orchestra totally under control. He doesn't need a stick. (Many conductors don't) And as far as Tschaikowsky 3 movements are concerned he keeps pretty well together with the pianist. Only the end is not 100% together. But I heard Lang Lang with Simon Rattle and they made an incredible mess of the ending. 2 totally different tempos. But that happens so often with this piece. Hard to play and hard to conduct.

  • I recall seeing a young Arcadi Volodos and he played the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 2. It was beautiful and it was a piano competition. He was up against the greats... I cannot recall who won but who cares .. It was magnificient.

  • he's like the Jerry Lewis of piano

  • Checking his nails at 5:06?! What an idiot and what a virtuoso...

  • HHAHAHA XD THAT FACE

  • this was great!

  • Much of these comments are effectively racist. You have a right t comment on his performance, nothing else. And, by the way, he may not be your favourite pianist, but he is a genius.

    obo2

  • @yosserc Lang Lang is an expert and there might be people who are envious of his talent but I enjoy his music whatever he plays!

  • omg i love his faces! they are hilarious!

  • Good hall there was !At the1st as the best one,I think so,

    Orchestra are super beauty!!!!.

He played brave and vigor as win by his own best play by hisself and his play promote to criate orchestra best with conductor ,together on wonderful stage as dreamly.

    I like!

Good charactoristic various own artistic paly make you and your audiences happy with making fame .

For long , please keep own much variations as your own chroctoristic play as great arts like pure red fire in oil.

  • he plays the piece well, but he looks like he's herp derpin

  • no lang2 isn't best pianist i thought yuja wang it's the best pianist ever!!

  • 5:05 ahaha, so inch..

  • 4:25 the piano was vibrating!

  • Comment removed

  • The thing that makes me hate Lang Lang is not his playing, but his clearly fabricated behavior. It's like he's trying to hard. I mean, I can get feeling the music, but this isn't feeling it at all. It's just putting on a show so people can go "oh lang lang, you're so unique, you're like a classical music rockstar!". Why can't people just have honest reactions toward music?

  • @SergeantMuffins Totally agree. His behaviour is absurd. It's like watching a chimp eat a banana at the zoo. He's just stupid. Sure... he plays pretty well.... but he is an asshat.

  • The octaves were..........Astounding!

  • here we have someone that inspires millions with a good technique and no musical insight whatsoever...

  • @masterofsynapsis good technique is indeed a part of the equation

  • 0:47 look closely! it's a self playing piano!!!

  • He started violating the speed of light at 5:10. hehe

  • this is a lang lang performance. awesome.

  • FUCKING STUPID PIANISTE EVER SEEN ON EARTH !

  • hey stupid guys, such dirty sol-fa-fol-fa-... at the end of the octave cadenza cant never, ever be compared to Martha Argerich's.

open all your eyes, your naked eyes to watch Argerich performing this concerto, and see what octaves are !!!

cant believe there are so many stupids to say this is the best pianist, he's just a monkey with the ability to act as a monkey on the piano

its an insult to the piano

ANYONE WHO THINKS MY COMMENTS ARE SPAMS IS JUST JEALOUS OF THE REAL GREATEST PIANISTS !!!

  • @khongcothithoi Let's see you play it then....HA! Yeah, thought so.......

  • 2:08 is epic

  • Cóż to za zachowania w jego wykonaniu? ...

  • LOL his eyeballs are SO BIG

    O_O

  • Always looks like he just jazzed his pants.

  • He makes the music perfect by enjoying it. :)

  • Lang Lang is indeed an excellent pianist but he is NOT the best.

Arthur Rubinstein and Vladamir Horowitz are the best. (Technique is still studied today) Let's not forget to mention the first American to win the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Russia - Van Cliburn when Russia was not cool.

Than there is Evgeny Kissin and to me the great Mekhail Pletnev. Than there is Ayako Uehara. I cannot watch Lang Lang for long, his gestures just isn't for me. This is not an insult to the maestro.

  • @macrossmatrix type in Tchaikovsky Pianoconcert 1 Arcadi Volodos , a good performance of Volodos and the Berliner Philarmonica.

    Greetz

  • wow!

  • MAGNIFICO.SOBERBIA ACTUACION E INTERPRETACION,EMOCIONANTE.

  • Lang Lang is very good, but Arcadi Volodos is my favorite pianist and probably the best in the world, if ever there was a best.

  • I would like to see lang lang's op.25 nº 10

  • Number one ;)))

  • I love his playing of this movement... 0:35 Perfect accentuation :P

  • I love his faces when playing :D

  • Not a musician myself but as a layman, all I can see is passion and love for the music? Sounds beautiful to me.

  • Bravo!

  • I never really like Lang Lang except for this one particular piece.

  • One of his better performances but no...musically overexaggerated. It's bad. I don't doubt he has great talents but he too often misuses his talents. Sad... But someday, when he matures ...

  • Oooooo So Much I Love Tchaikovsky and Ooooooo So Much I Love Lang Lang :))

Lang Lang has an ability, unusual and original ability, to immortalize any Composer's name.

  • Plus affligeant que le pianisme de Lang Lang, les commentaires de ceux qui l'aiment ...

  • Why do haters even click on this video? If you hate him just ignore it, not disdain him IDIOTS

  • @MrMrmike5 Yuri Temirkanov and I think he was conducting the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Magnificent performance!

  • I love the expressive passion and his play. Bravo!

  • Je nai jamais vu une interpretation aussi movaise!!!

  • clown..

  • There seems to be no mention of the orchestra. Who is the conductor and what orchestra is this, please?

  • Lang Lang's talent on the piano is without a doubt...........But...............

Piano playing is about annotating "the piece", not only your feelings

Seems to me that he uses TOO MANY unnessesary gestures, and shows too much of himself!!! Look at 1:12~1:15, Then you will perhaps agree with me!!

  • personally, i don't like him because he brings nothing new, nothing interesting, just mediocre standard playing in my playing. then he acts like he is something when he speaks, and of course the movements and faces don't do him much justice either. he doesn't speak to me, and that is a musicians job, to speak to his audience.

  • I saw lang lang playing live with the ny philharmonic. he is a musical genius, lets not dispute that. generally one of my favorite aspects of his performance is the joy on his face as he plays-- this man truly loves his instrument-- and that obvious and almost palpable fact, coupled with his mastery of the piano is what makes listening to him an inspiring experience.

  • There is a reason why there are 50 thumbs up and 21 down... Stop trying to justify his musicianship. Many people just don't like him. It's their opinion so why are you trying to change it?

  • Yeah that's the fuoco one!:D

  • Lang Lang is best pianist ever, a real virtuoso!!

he don't even look at the piano when he plays this most difficult concert

all other negative comments come from envious people that know nothing about music or how to play this world best concert.

  • @fbett111

I also am a real virtuoso at what I do- I sleep with your mom. And I don't even watch your mom when I put my junk in. I'd say she's also as difficult as playing the Tchaikovsky piano concerto.

  • @fbett111 he has a good technique and he uses the technique to realize the many ideas he has for interpretation. its a clever person. and as long he stays in good health he will do good interpretations.

he is a phenomen no doubt. one likes or not the way he makes caréer its another thing. As long as he interests the public he does good work....

  • @fbett111 that's a delusion! do you even know people like Gilels, Argerich, Kissin or Rubenstein?

  • @fbett111 I would rather say that he is the most commercial classical pianist ever, but far from being the best :) He is a celebrity because he convinced 90% of the audience with his "spectacular" interpretations. I would be surprised if the 45 dislikes came from non-musicians... Technique/virtuosity is NOT the only thing you need to be a good musician. Unfortunately only few people are aware of this, even if it seems to be obvious for us musicians.

  • A great performance! This looks like a festival after all, one has to give the max!

  • HORRIBLE !

  • @TheScherzando try to play it like this...

  • HORRIBLE !

  • I think it's funny how all these people are criticizing his performance. You guys can not play like him so stfu.

  • his interpretation sounds different every time... little nuances that sound like he's just playing in the moment

  • this peformance is great, and if so many people dont like it how come you dont just listen to other peformers?

  • Lang Lang is a genius.

  • 5:02, how can he do that?????

  • 5:02 is a joke since there's a series of hard octaves coming up

  • This really isn't the way to perform. He should take a look at the great pianists and learn from them

  • Si vede che ami la Musica...la suoni con tutto te stesso...bravissimo Lang Lang...With my compliments....

  • Like Long Long. Young, talent, entertaining...but very disappointed after reviewing this one. As a professional pianist, stage appearance is very important and recognized. 5:02 shows totally no class and no respect...Hope he won't make same mistake again in any future concert.

  • people pay attention please

1 5:02 it's just entertainment, the behauvior of the virtuoso not disrispecting the orchestra

2 lang lang is perfect see the octaves, argerich's ones are nothing compared to these

3 the orchestra makes the mistake:

lang lang and the violins go toghether

the winds(trombons expecially) are late(5:40-5:44) in fact the conductor tries to accelerate them to make them go together with the violins (5:43-5:45)

  • @TheCaptain1123 I disagree. It's disrespectful to everyone; the orchestra, those watching, and himself. I mean, come on.

He's too affected for my liking.

  • @TheCaptain1123

Thanks for the very close viewing and sharing your insights about the timing. That's something I'd never pick up on. As for 5:02 - I suspect that pianists often do weird-looking things when they are hyped for performance. But they usually would not expect to have a close up camera on them when they are not actually playing.

  • @TheCaptain1123 you're correct, today I uploaded Arcadi Volodos playing this concerto with the berliner philarmonica just type in, Tchaikovsky Pianoconcert 1 Arcadi Volodos , that orchestra is much better and the performance is over all much more musical. I also think that with Volodos you never have the feeling of what a great technique he has, it's the music that counts, that's not the case with Bang Bang here!

  • @TheCaptain1123

    argerich is better =.=

  • @TheCaptain1123 come on you jealous guy, this performance is top. I am pianist and know this concerto. Even Horowitz did not realize these octaves like Lang Lang. He has great ideas and a good humour. He gives pleasure to the people. So you hate him for that? Don t be that bullshit shortsighted... take life from the bright side.... Its not a Brendel who will be able to play this better... (lough).... Even the russians would accept to give him first prize for that performance....

  • @TheCaptain1123 concerning point 2 Rachmaninov saidto horowitz after hearing him perform this piece "fantastic nobody plays the octaves as fast as you, but it wasn't musical at all" I sujest you listen to tchaikovsky piano concerto 1 opus 23 by Arcadi Volodos in HD

  • 5:02 WTF! I like lang lang, but i hate this performance! No elegance ! I prefer arrau and michelangeli when talking about elegance and posture!

  • I wanted to compare this interpretation with Martha Argerich's, but after about 30 seconds I discovered I can't... I tried not to look at him, but Marha is still much, much better

  • They love him...he's and entertainer. Much like the great Liberace.

  • 5:02 - 5:27 THE WORST PART EVERRRRR

  • Omg, 5:02. Talking about DISRESPECTING THE ORCHESTRA!!!!

  • mistakes and errors abound in his playing

  • @NewJersey5858 The easiest thing in life is to criticize people. If you are better than Lang Lang, where is your video on you tube? He's the world's greatest pianist ever!!

  • @SuperWroclaw Definitely not a pianist here and while I respect him for being a great pianist, he once was incredible. now he's a sell out to the commercial world, overplays, slams the keys, and lacks grace. moreover, i do know a thing or two about music.

  • People go to Church on Sunday, People go to Concert on Saturday.

People go to Church everyday, they feel old.

People go to Concert everday, they feel bored.

Nothing Wrong to Make a Different! Make Fun!

  • Wow i have never seen this concerto played with such virtuosity!

Lang Lang is truly in a league of his own!

  • Lol 5:08-5:10

  • This is him goofing, but in the Rattle performance, he was serious all throughout... maybe he tries different things?

  • wiping his sweat halfway?? did u see beneboim playing moonlight sonata movement 3? he was sweating like hell but he didnt even bother .talking about playing. i didnt say he have to play like martha agerich i said that he was doing silly actions yet his interpretation is bad. tell me one point u can see that show that langlang is better than agerich interpretation. in other words i am trying to say. why dont he just drop silly actions on stage and focus instead of doing sth useless.

  • u should go see martha agerich performance its way better ,everything is crystal clear and she plays it perfectly and she dont act silly on the stage. All his actions still failed to play this song perfectly, if so why need those actions? just compare hers with his

  • @recently905 They have different styles or different characteristics. As a human being, you cannot force or expect them to play song with the same way. They are not robots above all. Your critic is nothing but try to find fault with Lang Langs playing. Do you thing he is a great piano player if he copy Argerichs performace in the stage?

  • Lang Lang is a Clown not a pianist! Listen to Horowitz.

  • @WaldemarKoszlowsky Lang Lang is by far the world's greatest pianist ever! If you are better, where is your video on you tube? Since it doesn't exist, quit criticizing the biggest genius the world has ever had in terms of performing piano music. How can you even compare Horowitz to Lang Lang?? It's like comparing the technology of a Mercedez made in the 50's to the one made in 2010. Lang Lang took the piano music to a new level. It is simply impossible to play better than he does.

  • @WaldemarKoszlowsky Lang Lang is by far the world's greatest pianist. Unlike Horowitz, Lang Lang plays the right notes...

  • loool at 5:05 haha, "come on orchestra.... get on with it..."

  • love the part of second 0:35 al 0:46 amazing !!!! I like your expression !!!

  • Lang Lang one of that men that we should just listen to, because when we watch his videos, it is notable that he has not a posture of a great pianist, even making the piano sound good

  • meraviglioso,semplicemente straordinario,lang lang!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey.. Go learn this concerto and then criticize him you assholes.. Who are any of YOU to judge someone so rare and talented as Lang Lang.. Jealous bastards..

  • Its called 'expression'
