thank you sooo much! i have a teacher that doesn't teach, she just shows you one or two examples and expects you to understand it completely. my finals are next week friday and i can not thank you enough! :)
my god man, have you ever considered a career teaching public school. god knows we could use more teachers who actually know what theyre talking about XD
@hollyhoney140 They are possible zeros, but not necessarily actual zeros of the function. Imagine if you didn't narrow it down with the rational roots theorem, you would have an unlimited number of possibilities to test. So the rational roots theorem gives us a few numbers to work with. =) Hope this helps.
I have a question. What do you do if, after doing the synthetic division, you end up with a cubic plynomial? You obviously cant apply the quadratic formula there. So what do you do?
I absolutely loved it. I have a precalculus exam in about 4 days and honestly speaking, this video might be the only reason I pass. POST MORE. Maybe some trigonometry? :)
this is the best explanation i've heard. and i've been looking for this for a few hours. can i have you for myself so you can tutor me for the rest of this year?
pretty good, but guys don't waste ur time trying each p/q via synthetic division, instead you can just plug each p/q into the function, and if you get 0, then the p/q is a zero.
oh one more thing. You're trying to find RATIONAL ZEROS. Meaning you only factor to find the zeros. Say you have a polynomial like f(x)=x^4......meaning you'll have 4 zeros right? well since you're looking for rational zeros you'd only need to find the zeros that are factorable. Anything that needs to be solved quadratically will either be Irrational or imaginary.
so couldn't it be written as p/q= factor of the constant/factor of leading constant?
what I don't understand is why this is under "precalc" when i'm learning this in alg 2H? well i have a huge one with a coefficient of 10. f(x)= 10x^4-3x^3-29x^2+5x+12
@ 3:25 you say that x-1 or ( "x minus 1") is a factor so just wanted to clarify b/c you then go on to say x minus -1 is the factor which is what you meant to say at 3:25.
Oh my God!!! can i kiss your feet?
