for killer edges with stainless but less rust resistance you cannot beat BG42 or VG10 since both have vanadium added which gives tighter edge grain structure for a keener edge (154CM and ATS34 have no vanadium)...however, as i said, for an outdoor knife you lose some of the rust resistance of the 400 series...but for a kitchen knife where a keener edge is really noticed BG42 and VG10 are no brainers and kings of the hill for stainless.

154CM and ATS34 are for all intents and purposes, the same steel...the former is American and the latter Japanese Hitachi..they trade some rust resistance for slightly better edgesthan the 400 series...

Yea, thats 440C,not A or B, the knife is just old (earlier than 2006) because they replaced the 440C with 154CM after 06

as jedirifleman said, 440C is an impressive steel, unlike 440A or 440B. The quality is quite comparable to 154CM.

actually 440C is some of the best steel for knives in the world and is used by most custom knifemakers...you must have been ripped of by some 440A or 440B which is crap and which is why most ripoff knives only put 440 on the blade because they want you to think its the "C" when its cheap ass "A" or "B"...go to any metalurgy site or custom knife site and see what the masters say about 440C....nothing but praises

great knife man i have the older 440c blade model with the thumb studs, has to be one of my all time favorite knives and i really want to try the fixed blade version.. oh and by the way bro the marks on the end of the handle are just from the mold when they made them, they all have them, you got yours for a great price.. i enjoyed the vid.
