@1allinparts I know how you feel, but even tho my dad was very brutal their is something that realy wants me to feel good about him. I just can't find that thing. So I sit and promise that I will never be that way(to anybody), and try to find something to help deminish the memories for a little wile. 13 and a half months ago i lost my dad.My heart breaks every day for him,i miss him so much.I am the eldest of 4 daughters and me and dad worked together for 10 years.I helped my mom look after him for the last couple years of his life,watched him get shocked back to life by paramedics in our home and held his hand when he passed!!!he was only 72.may 29th would have been my parents 48th anniversary.Im so sad;((

my dad doesnt show his love for us.. he is very distant. almost never home. He will sometimes laugh with us but thats it. When I give him a hug goodnight or bye, its only a slight hug. not even a hug. oh i love this song. it reminds me of everything else and how i want a husband like this

@kayed1956-I could so relate to your story because my Dad was a painter, but I liked the smell of paint and realize there was something comforting to that familiar smell because of my Dad. Miss him so much, he survived quadruple bypass and fought the battle with cancer 3 times, unfortunately the 3rd, which was lung cancer took his life 6 yrs ago. Dang cancer has taken so many loved ones.

i was lucky my dad was there my whole life and i remember how calused they where from being a machanic. i remember the smell of the grease, oil and gas and it was comforting. But i found out this week he had cancer when i joined the military and he died 3 years before i retired and 8 mos before i got to live his dream, going to egypt like he did in WWII. He was supposed to tell me where to go and couldnt. I MISS HIM SOOOO BADDLY.

@Papabear077 Those are all good virtues. But boys AND GIRLS should be taught to never put their hands on any PERSON (or animal) in anger. Men shouldn't hit women, but women shouldn't think it's okay to hit men because men aren't allowed to hit back. Respect is a two-way street.

He was in the US Army so he was gone alot, but when he was home I was like a shadow to him and I'd holler out to mom that I was going to chop wood with dad (yes i'm a female lol) or gonna work on the truck with him. I was a BIG Daddy's girl, a piece of my heart broke that day & remains lost. I only was alotted 27 years of fatherly advice and care. My 10 Year old/6 Year old cousins sung this at my grandpa's funeral. He died of Pancreatic Cancer. I never imagined him dying. :(. He was the closest thing I've had to a dad since I was about 8 month's old, when my real dad left. He's raised me like his own ever since. I miss him so much. My daddy passed away 4 weeks ago. He was such a hard worker to make sure we always had what we needed. He was so soft and gentle with all of us. A man loved by so many for his generious heart. @1allinparts I know how you feel, but even tho my dad was very brutal their is something that realy wants me to feel good about him. I just can't find that thing. So I sit and promise that I will never be that way(to anybody), and try to find something to help deminish the memories for a little wile. All I can realy say is that I too feel the need for a "DAD"(why else would we watch the video). And we both know we will never have one. At least now you know their are others.

Listening to this song has helped me to rember what a DADDY really is. I was not his blood daughter nore were my older sisters, but he raised us and loved us no matter what. He may not have been a perfect men, but we never did with out! He steped up when their was noone els.

This song best describes my dad. He passed away 4-23-11. I played this song at his funeral. My dad was the most wonderful man. Some days the sadness is unbearable. I know one day I will be with him again. He died at age 62. He had liver and lung cancer. He was a Vietnam vet. Not only was he my dad he was my hero.

I lost my father to a real bad auto accident on June 1st of 2009 and it was such a shock to to learn of his death, and I want my dad back real bad but i know he's where he's at and that's whats important to me is to know that he's where he'd rather be than anywhere. @kayed1956-I could so relate to your story because my Dad was a painter, but I liked the smell of paint and realize there was something comforting to that familiar smell because of my Dad. Miss him so much, he survived quadruple bypass and fought the battle with cancer 3 times, unfortunately the 3rd, which was lung cancer took his life 6 yrs ago. Dang cancer has taken so many loved ones.

i was lucky my dad was there my whole life and i remember how calused they where from being a machanic. i remember the smell of the grease, oil and gas and it was comforting. But i found out this week he had cancer when i joined the military and he died 3 years before i retired and 8 mos before i got to live his dream, going to egypt like he did in WWII. He was supposed to tell me where to go and couldnt. I MISS HIM SOOOO BADDLY.

He was in the US Army so he was gone alot, but when he was home I was like a shadow to him and I'd holler out to mom that I was going to chop wood with dad (yes i'm a female lol) or gonna work on the truck with him. One day I heard this song on the radio, WTCM, I had to pull over because it really hit me deep within. I was adopted but I was very close to my daddy. He hardly ever rasied a hand on me maybe spanked me only two times but he could make you feel bad just by looking at you. He wasn't mean at all. I replay this song over and over again, but even more during the month of November and on his birthday in Feb. My dad died of diredirum cancer Nov.20, 2004 at the age of 57. I was a BIG Daddy's girl, a piece of my heart broke that day & remains lost. I only was alotted 27 years of fatherly advice and care. My children & husband got me thru it and if it wasnt for them, I don't think I would have been a rock for my mother. this song was played all while i was growing up and eases the pain a bit

@jmanswife Sorry to hear that. My aunt/Grandfather were extremely close.(Daughter/Father..) They made a promise to each other that on her Birthday, they would go to this place he always took us to for a mini-vacation. He passed away one day before her birthday. I'm only saying this because she was also 27. She just turned 28 in September. Again, sorry about your father.

My 10 Year old/6 Year old cousins sung this at my grandpa's funeral. He died of Pancreatic Cancer. I never imagined him dying. :(. He was the closest thing I've had to a dad since I was about 8 month's old, when my real dad left. He's raised me like his own ever since. I miss him so much. I'm usually one of the people who keep my feelings inside, so I didn't cry at the funeral until I heard my cousins singing this song. It reminded me so much of him. I'm happy he's not in pain now. no matter the mistakes a daddy makes we are always his child hold ur memories close to u and never hold regrets. remember ull be together again one time. im 32 and just lost my dad. its bad when ur a daddys girl. always show a step dad or ur dad the love and respect they deserve and hold them tight as they do.

i love it sooooooooo much!!!!! My dad always was a role model to me. I'm a nurse but followed my dad around the whole time growing up. He worked too hard but taught me everything he knew. He was a mechanic and now I can fix my own car, house and have honesty and morals to carry me through the rest of my life!!! LOVE THIS SONG !!!!
