I want to thank you for this wonderful piece of history of a lovely lady as some knew as Capucine. Such a lovely but tragic life she lead that was cut short way too soon.
I was sitting here watching "North to Alaska" and had to IMDb her to see what other movies I had seen this elegant, superb example of womanhood had made. Even outshines some of the very best wines as the best French export to date, sorry Brigette. Then I came to the Bio. I was shocked to read of her passing and the circumstances surrounding it. It was reported that her long time friend and companion Audrey Hepburn had intervened several times before but was not present on that fateful day.
Capucine. Until a few minutes ago I did not know her name - and yet, for me as a very young boy (now 40+), watching this woman in The Pink Panther was a defining point in my young life; indeed, my awakening moment - my first infatuation. I was shocked by how intense my emotional response was to her unique sensual beauty. Watching her filled me with an flushing inner warmth. Her voice, those eyes; she was an exquisit creature and I am so glad others remember her with equal fondness.
To my (perhaps "old-fashioned"...or rather, unusually refined) taste, Capucine (Germaine Lefebvre) is THE most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Unbelievable.

Capucine was a bridesmaid at Audrey Hepburn's wedding in 1969...oh, and her name is pronounced Kap-oo-seen.R.I.P

Affair with a married person can cause loneliness, depression and jumping off the 8th floor.

"The Rose" (English version of "Mon amie la rose" "My friend the rose") sung by Françoise Hardy. See my tribute to Françoise Hardy!
