LOVE the blue and silver...i don't see why they had to put water under the rear tires with that much power it should smoke them no problem...unless they didn't want to shred the tires...either way nice car
To be fair, this isn't built by ford, its built by shebly and is a $36,000 upgrade- for that money you get ford racing suspension, ford racing intake, and ford racing exhaust, and a few body parts. Worth $36? Not to me.
Especially consider the car VINs as a normal GT500
Very true. I just saw a modded '05 GT with about $40,000 in upgrades. Twin turbo, racing suspension, new intake, ported and polished and a hell of a lot of other shit. He gave a ZR1 (Yes, a 2009 Corvette ZR1) a run for his money. He lost by .09 of a second. If the '05 was bought NEW, with all the upgrades it'd be about $65,000. A ZR1 lists for $90,000 but dealers wont take less than $120,000. I love the Mustang and Corvette, but the GM lovers and Ford bashers are makin me lean towards the 'stang
i agree with IL. this car needs to be driven but just like all the really nice cars out there all 1000 KR's will be bought out by old people who won't want to drive it fast for fear of losing their investment.
Nice car but a bit too expensive if you ask me, if its a car that should be able to compete with (for example) the Nissan GT-R. That does the slalom over 70mph, the drag in 11.2 seconds and is even cheaper, basically ripping it apart. I guess its just that expensive cause its a unique car for guys that want something that not everyone has, still If I had a choice I'd take the GT-R anyday
1/4 mile in 12.8 sec?are you fucking kidding me?put 250 more Horsepower in a Mustang and thats all it can do,I was hoping for maybe 11.9s or low low 12's but 12.8?Jeez a 30k GT does it in like 13.And it costs $80,000 and it still has that shitty cheapo black plastic on the side and on the mirrors.I love american cars, but this is just aweful.
the gt-r is 93 grand the v-spec is going to be more like 100grand but it is a better value the only thing i give this car that it is rare it has a bad ass engine and the carbonfiber hood
the gtr cost 77 grand you idiot. the vspec is not going to be 100 grand either. dealers are marking up the skyline, yes... but dealers are going to mark up the 500kr too.
the people that built the shelby 5000 kr are tuners you moron
stop the the dumbass domestic vs import war, that shit is so 2001
500 kr is RARE, but not unique. and the only reason its rare is because they're only building limited supply from factory. you can still buy a mustang and build it up like this so that makes your point null & void
first i am not moron... second i love smart people so i said that i would love to have one of 1k (1000) unique cars. u can build it to look like this LOL what is the point of that.....? dont pretend that u r some1 else be urself if u know what i mean and abaout kerol shelby (founder of shelby automobiles)i know little more then u think and i still think that muscle is law f**k tuners (under tuners i mean cars like Toyota supra;nissan skyline;mitsubi evo) CLRSCR;
the reason why its so expensive is because it is so rare not because of speed and its not the most expensive the Shelby Cobra GT500 SuperSnake is the fastest and most expensive id rather have that but shelbys are my favorites so i dont care
It's quite strange. The 2008 GT500KR costs 80k yet if you buy a regular 2008 GT2008 at the base price of around 40k and you get the Super Snake package that can increase the Horsepwer to 725 for about 30k, the Super Snake is ten thousand dollars cheaper than the KR, especially since some KRs have their prices jacked up to about $250,000 in some dealers.
$80k for a Mustang with a live axle? Do. Not. Want. I think the original GT is a good buy but the KR is just for people who like to suck Carol Shelbys dick.
The GT500 isn't made for the track. Hell it isn't even really made for a straight line. The car is too heavy and its suspension has no idea what to do with all the power. The GT500 is basically bragging rights on 4 wheels. You'd be hard pressed to find a car easier to modify and make ridiculous dyno numbers than the GT500. A smaller SC pulley and better exhaust will net you ~60 hp. Swap for a larger SC and 700 rwhp is not far from reality. Again though, its a dyno queen and garage trophy.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAH. We see again that Edmunds can't drive. Muscle Mustangs nailed a -11.92- at 120mph on the stock tires at Englishtown, NJ, not some gay road course. These are the same guys that got the best F-body 1/4 mi pass GM guys talk so much about, so they ain't biased, just damn good. Also as for the skidpad the KR has reliably been shown to be 1.00g, not 0.92 (base GT500).
Rotaries have been around since the 60's. They have no cams, valves, cylinders, pistons, etc. Most recent cars powered by rotary engines are the RX7 and the RX8. Learn about regular piston engines before diving into rotaries. If you can understand how a piston engine works, you'll basically already know how a rotary works.
I have a 2005 Mazda RX8 GT in velocity red. I took college level automotive classes, including basic engine theory and automotive steering and suspension at AWC (cheap ass community college, but its all I could afford). I still have a lot to learn believe it or not. If you really wanna learn about cars stay away from Fake and the Furious and check out some engine theory books at a library. Try and find a book with pics, cuz trying to learn how an engine works in your head will give you a stroke.
Engine swap. DOHC and SOHC are two completely different set ups. There's no room for an extra set of cams in a SOHC engine. If you're determined for a Mustang, try and find a DOHC one. Your mods will go farther, the engines are better built, and you'll have a little more respect in the Mustang community.
Gotta remember though that the typical Mustang GT has a SOHC set up, while the Shelby is DOHC. You could probably push a GT to make ~540 bhp, but the Shelby will always make its power more reliably.
SOHC is Singl Over Head Cam. 1 camshaft is used to operate both the intake and exhaust valves. DOHC is Dual Over Head Cam. 1 camshaft works the intake valves, and another works the exhaust valves. Ever been to Walmart? Where one person is the bagger AND cashier? Technically it works and it saves Walmart money, but having one person as a cashier and one person as a bagger is more effective system. DOHC is more expensive, but usually more fuel effecient and makes more reliable power.
Don't think you could. You'd need a whole new engine block if you wanted a DOHC set up. If you got a Mustang GT you could just swap the stock camshaft for a higher profile one, which will net you quite a bit of horsepower. Or you could shop around for a DOHC Mustang. SVT Cobra's, Shelby GT500, Mach 1's etc. An example of DOHC being better than SOHC is the 2004 Mach 1. 4.6L DOHC compared to a 2004 4.6L SOHC GT. Mach 1 makes over 300 horsepower, while the GT makes about 260.
Personally I wouldn't get a SOHC Mustang. They're decent bang-for-your-buck, but the DOHC Mustangs are amazing bang-for-your-buck. The live axle suspension in the back is NOT comfortable, and takes bumps really harshly. The inside is way too bare and plain. Plus there's no real pride in owning a SOHC Mustang. Everyone and their brother has got one. Check out the Pontiac GTO (if you're gonna go big, go huge) or the new Camaro. Just my 2 cents though.
I think its a throwback to the 60's model GT500KR...Unless Ford screwed that up too. This car and the normal GT500 Cobra just suck for the money. Why the live rearend?
ok ford, the point of a muscle car is to do good in drag racing for a cheap price. in that end, you can sacrifice handling, interior quality, braking, blah blah. this POS is more expensive, still sacrifices all of the above to M3, Z06, GTR. and with a 4.9s 0-60, can't even out drag them. WTF is goin on?
*sigh* why would people buy this thing for the look? Just get the hood/spoiler and a few other bits as well as a low restriction exhaust and you have all the look for maybe 5 grand tops if all is professionally done. 80k+ for truck suspension? This car has terrible performance for the price level. Corvette Z06, GT-R, 911, M3, all are 80k or under and all are far better performers on the track and can keep up or beat it in a straight line.
Mother fucker, that thing is NICE, but it's so expensive...Well, the collector's edition would probably explain why it's so much, If there were more maid, I bet they would drop the price by about $10,000-$25,000...That would make more people buy it..If it was like $55-60,000....
but seriously why the fuck would you pay 82,000 for a fucking mustang i'm just not seein it its a nice car and all but cmon at least put some better rims on that damn thing or sumthin am i alone on this one???
i would say the GT-R would rip this car to peices over and over and over and over again on any surface. A little cheaper too, and MUCH more comfort and luxury
No shit. These cars can't really be compared, they are two different categories, the GT500KR is a collectors item, noone's gonna street or drag race it. The GTR is on a different level its a beast, but the GT500 has its own attractions.
your better off getting a a mustang gt then spending some money on it, thats a rip off. all shelby do is slap on a huge supercgarger and a huge pricetag.
Pricy car for not much performance... I guess if you like a really jacked up ride that's screaming muscle, this is pretty fitting. Other than that tho, most people would fail to see the appeal.
I'll take my car over this anyday. Audi RS4 sure it lacks in hp but it applies it better to the ground with allwheel drive.
Plus I could match that hp with mtm's supercharger kit and would make the pricetag identical. Not forgetting that my car does salom speed of 71mph and handles far better.
ya true they should have given this mustang better handling but like you said its just a collectible you could just buy a new v6 mustang for under 20k then buy that same engine for 15k spend another 10k on everything else and have the excact same thing and all thats at new from the dealer msrp obviosly this isn't a car made to make a statement but rather a collector's toy. Still i like it but i don't think its worth the sticker price.
12.9 in the quarter mile? IL needs to get better drivers!
And yeah, there are better cars I would rather spend my money on than this overpriced Stang! Just think of all the things you could do to a GT with only 10K... or even 5K!

Plus I could match that hp with mtm's supercharger kit and would make the pricetag identical. Not forgetting that my car does salom speed of 71mph and handles far better.
oh and have I mentioned 10x better interior?

no fuckin way its a german car. of course the fuckin interior is gonna be better cuz audi is a luxury brand dumbass

ya true they should have given this mustang better handling but like you said its just a collectible you could just buy a new v6 mustang for under 20k then buy that same engine for 15k spend another 10k on everything else and have the excact same thing and all thats at new from the dealer msrp obviosly this isn't a car made to make a statement but rather a collector's toy. Still i like it but i don't think its worth the sticker price.

12.9 in the quarter mile? IL needs to get better drivers!
And yeah, there are better cars I would rather spend my money on than this overpriced Stang! Just think of all the things you could do to a GT with only 10K... or even 5K!
