I can say only this. I've done stress test, ECG, Holter ECG, Ultra sound check. Nothing showed, except on the Holter ECG. They've measured 3 VES (ventrycular extrasystole). Why it happens, no one knows..I can run for 2 miles and nothing and be calm and watching TV and have 4-5 of those. I think it is connected to the subconsciousness on some level. I have some diazepam, so when I get frightened I take 10 mg and some 20 min after that I am fine. It is really the best "cure" I've found so far..
i get these extrasystols when i sleep sometimes cant sleep so i watch tv until they go away it always happens when i panic in my dreams been going on for decades still here sometimes it last two days afto take lexomil or atarax to get it back to sinus rythme i hate taking those drugs they fuck you up make you stoned all day

this is not caused by psychological problems.. many people have anxiety without PVC yet most people with PVC have anxiety.. why is that? It's simple PVC comes first then comes anxiety. When your heart gives you that HARD thump beat, it will freak you out and cause you to have an anxiety attack. No matter who you are or how mentally tough you think you are.
And psychology 101 and modern diagnosis for psychological problems are BULL FUCKING SHIT. This is a Physical thing

hi bionerd23, do you think PVCs may be related to somatoform disorders or anxiety? a lot of people with this typoe of arrhytmia complain about anxiety problems, but i'm not sure if those problems start after the arrhytmias because of preoccupation and fear of them or they were present before the PVCs started. also, anxiety and stress is something common in most people who don't have arrhytmias.
also, is it true that you can live 85 years with extrasystoles? aren't they threatening?
PVCs may have very different causes; psychological ones, such as anxiety or extreme stress. then, there may be severe cardiac problems as the cause - or a thyroid malfunction, or even allergies to food, or a lack of magnesium or potassium, for example. they occur in intoxications, too - e.g. in people who drink a lot of alcohol. usually, they're also benign - with no underlying cardiac disease and no reason to be found. in that case, they dont seem to decrease your life-span.

im 15 and i cant feel my heartbeat when i put my hand over my heart yet i can feel it when i put two fingers on my neck. Its a normal hearbeat but is it bad if i cant feel my heartbeat when i put my hand over my chest?
I'm 13 years old and i have PvC's or PaC's the Cardio said he wasn't sure. I have them ALOT! sometimes i would guess up to 4-9 times a minute and i am aware of EVERY SINGLE ONE!
I had an ECG done and the cardiologist said my heart looked fine. But they still cause me alot of anxiety. i was wondering if either PvC's or PaC's are dangerous. I've had them for about 2 yrs BTW and sometimes they are accompanyed by slight stabbing pains in my chest.
if your heart is fine, ie. you have no underlying heart disease and this has been certified by a cardiologist, there's nothing to worry about. if it causes you anxiety and you cannot get over that even though the arrythmia you are experiencing is completely harmless, you may want to try a very low dose beta blocker. this is medication and has possible side effects though, so i strongly suggest that you try to live with your PVCs. medication / beta blockers should be a last resort.
which beta blocker? i dont think you have tried ALL beta blockers. bisoprolol can have a different effect to metroprolol, while the latter is more likely to prevent arrythmia. also, there are beta blockers like propranolol who are also used for treatment of anxiety, though usually social anxiety. if you're experiencing physical symptoms in your heart and are anxious because of it - as you are - this beta blocker has a chance for success, even if another beta blocker didnt work, though.
@chadandalex2 i have the same thing man...just try to stay calm and not overthing it. i just found out i have them...the doctor said he wouldnt worry about it but they still want me to do a check up. i feel your pain, hang in there.
I didn't know all this stuff was on YouTube! This is great. I am trying to find good Nursing vids, cuz I am studying this stuff. Nice vid. Thanks for posting. I like the AUDIBLE Heart Beat part with the ECG strip that correlates with the sound.
I also have PVCs as well as it goes to atrial tachycardia and for those I take propranolol in increasing amounts until it stops up to 40mg then its time for the ER to get it to slow down or stop. Usually the episodes are one, then the other- or something just tachycardia only and no PVC. Sometimes its just PVC.
I get PVCs quite frequently. Usually at rest. Sometimes they happen 3-5 times in a minute. Some nights I can count at least an average of 3-5 per minute for hours. They interupt my ability to sleep because I notice EVERY one of them. Manytimes the hard thump is uncomfortable and even very slightly painful like a "warming" feeling in the heart. I'm only 28 I had pectus excavatum where the heart was slightly compressed and I recently had my chest repaired. I hope there is nothing wrong.
sorry to hear that - i hope your PVCs are not due to a heart injury, and you will be fine! i sure know how annoying those things can be... but i also know that they can have rather harmless causes (compared to a heart disease / injury), such as stress or a thyroid problem...
lol, indeed... i really wonder what a baby would feel if i was pregnant. babies are said to be at ease by listening to the mother's heartbeat at some point... they can get distressed if the mother's heart is beating really fast (as that'd mean stress to the mother, too, usually) and stuff. i wonder if all this irregular heartbeat stuff would freak it out, lol. ^_^
mine got worse and worse, starting with only a few hundred a day - and a few years later, i had 25.000 a day. but i hope this doesnt happen to you indeed, its annoying!
Hey, does anyone get this during the night time and can't fall to sleep because of it. I've suffered for many your and had to have a pacemaker put into my heart. Now I'm getting really bad pvc to the point where I can't fall to sleep. Thanx
I'm 33 and started getting these feelings of skipped heartbeats lately. I am scheduled for an echocardiogram and will be using a holter monitor on monday. I hope everything will be ok. good to know i'm not alone in this.
I got the results and everything was fine; the doctor said that I have PVCs and added it's normal to have them from time to time; the doctor also concluded that it was stress related and she is right, things are better at work and I don't feel them as much anymore.
glad to hear that! yes indeed, your heart is not a machine but an organ - it doesnt work perfectly, and some PVCs are normal. if there's no underlying heart disease causing them, you can just ignore them. :-)
I get the same thing, I am well controlled on Medication too...except I take metoprolol. When are you going to try to combine ECG and Audio? That would be way cool!
hehe, thats actually a very good idea - i just wasnt exactly sure about the how-to so far. maybe i could hold a microphone to my chest, play the sound loud on my PC, and then have the camera focused on the ECG and record the heartbeat sound coming from my pc as well as the ECG screen with the camera. that might work...
either that, or if I had an ECG I would mute my web camera, fix it on the ECG, and record a separate sound track with my steth mic then sync the two together in moviemaker or something.
hmm, well, i dont have a web camera... it'd be hard to sync, i'd have to say something so its both audible on the camera video as well as the sound recording on the pc to *really* sync it... oh well, i'll think about it. :-)
I started having extrasystoles 3 months ago. I'm 23, I don't smoke, I don't drink I'm not fat, I do recreate and I don't eat junk food. After my doc. examined me and took ECG and blood, she said that almost everyone has them, some people feel them, others don't. I hate them!!! They feel terrible!! I have also been to ER twice because of them. They took my blood for troponin and ECG. It both cases they came out OK. I guess its my anxiety. I'm still waiting for cardiologist tho...
sorry to hear that - it's correct, extrasystoles are usually harmless and you just have to live with them, even though they annoy you. for me, reading about them and understanding exactly what was going on, did the job. in the end, i had too many extrasystoles - 25.000 in 24 hrs - and ventricular tachycardia (and thus, dizzyness etc.) though, so i had to be put on medication... hope that you find a way to live with your extrasystoles!
only a doctor can tell you what this is all about - go and tell a cardiologist about your symptoms! there's no way to tell anything without seeing an ECG of your heart.
it eventually is paroxysmal superventricular tachycardia with intermitting (superventricular) extrasystoles, or just sinustachycardia with intermitting PVCs, or... well, a lot that varies from harmless to dangerous.
I've had similar problems myself this past year. I'm not really sure what the hell it is, or why it happens, but I quit drinking caffeen altogether, and I haven't had one since.
hi sounds just like my heart beat. diagnosed atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation and everything in between. i have been prescribed flecainide and due to have ablation in november. has your doctor discussed this with you? wishing you all the very best
yeah, but ablation is really dangerous for me, because my PVCs come from the left ventricle - that means i have a chance of about 5% for severe complications such as heart infarction, stroke, severe injury of the heart to need vavle or heart replacement, and death. it's a lot less dangerous for atrial arrythmia or stuff from the right ventricle, so... we decided not do try it, as it sounds insane and i am rather fine on flecainide. but - all the best to you, too, hope you can get rid of your AF!
hmmm, hard to say - it feels rather annoying and uncomfortable. much like being struck on your chest by a fist... not painful, but very uncomfortable.
It could be life threatnening if you have an underlying heart disease. But i don't think so. If you get dizzy or wake up suddenly while trying to fall asleep or stuff like that, it's normal, everyone who has PVC's feels the same way. I have them daily as well... it's starting to annoy me because i always think i might have something more serious. But really, try to keep your mind off it and don't let anxiety bite you in the butt, that'll only make things more complicated.
ventricular extrasystole is just one of them or random ones; ventricular bigeminus means one extrasystole is always altering with one sinus beat ("normal" beat) (so there's one extrasystole, sinus beat, extrasystole, sinus beat, etc.) - but it's the same thing, really. :-)
well, i used to have them all the time - 25.000 (twentyfivethousand) a day, to be exact. but, they put me on flecainide (antiarrythmic drug) - so i now have about 50 PVCs a day. :-)
my god..... were you able to perceive them all ?? I just started having PVC's (well, i'm on an event monitor, we THINK they're PVC's), and I only get a couple per day, and I spiral completely into horrible panic. It's also causing terrible depression. How do you cope /?
it wasnt bad when i just had a few PVCs a day, but they quickly (within about 18 months) developed to 25.000 (yes, thats TWENTYFIVETHOUSAND) a day, so i was hospitalized and put on flecainide, which almost completely stopped them. now - after about 15 months of treatment - they are coming back though, even though i'm still on the drug - my last long term ECG showed about 900 PVCs. sucks. hope it was just due to stress and that it'll get better again, i dont wanna be hospitalized once more.
I am so sorry you are having to deal with this... I am having such a hard time with a couple, I can't imagine. I will try and send you my remaining balance of good karma to help you out! Best of luck and thanks for the reply... perhaps you could try a course of an anxiolytic like diazepam to see if decreasing anxiety (and hence adrenaline/norepinephrine etc.) will help ?
how i cope... well, i learned a lot about them, and i find it fascinating rather than disturbing... as long as they dont kill me, lol. you can see i even got an ECG monitor in my other videos, so i like to look at them PVCs and stuff... dunno, they only really distrub me when im trying to sleep or when im exercising, cuz i get out of breath quickly, having a pulse of only 40 because PVCs dont really pump much blood.
wow, you have a stronger constitution than I do... I'm going to have to talk to someone about cognitive ways to deal with this because right now even one PVC sends me into panic... the first one i had i wrote goodbye notes and a will, thinking i was going to die.... again, sending you my remaining + karma...
yeah, i actually think that psychotherapy might help you. dont try and rely too much on drugs, especially not diazepam or the like, as an addiction to those would do your body and mind a lot more harm than all those PVCs... maybe you can try phytotherpy; valerian helps some people, as does mistletoe which strengtens the heart. talk to you doc before taking last mentioned, though - make sure there's no underlying heart disease before taking any of that stuff!
I will take your advice to.... well.... heart. haha. Thank you for your help; it means a lot more coming from someone that experiences it than my cardiologist trying to hurry me out of his office while riveted on his laptop doing something else.... i do need to be careful about the dependence as well. Such a paradox. Best wishes!
thanks for your wishes - all the best to you, too! try understanding PVCs... a few a day really arent harmful. researching helped me a lot... maybe it does the same for you?
i dont feel any anxiety, i dont panic when i feel the PVCs or anything - it's just stress (i guess - my heart is healthy), and i dont want to take insane lots of psychiatric drugs against that. i know how to resolve the stress problem, but then again, i'd need to win the lottery for that, so, i'll just live with PVCs. :-P
Have you ever researched Taurine and it's effects for your heart problems? You do know that taurine is found in energy drinks and helps the heart regulate so the energy drink doesn't give the user a heart attack.
I can say only this. I've done stress test, ECG, Holter ECG, Ultra sound check. Nothing showed, except on the Holter ECG. They've measured 3 VES (ventrycular extrasystole). You need more to your explanations, the Sinus Rhythm you show only shows two impulses, and would have to be a minimum of 60 bpm otherwise it's considered Sinus Bradycardia. And as far as your Bigemenals i believe to be wrong as well, looks more like a PAC ( Premature Atria Contraction), In order for it to be considered a Bigemeny you would have to show replica pulses which i did not see.

well, then it'd be best to learn to live with them; if there's no underlying cardiac disease, they're harmless.
if they really bother you that much, you could also try a beta blocker in a very low dose, see if they help... e.g. propranolol.

I'm still waiting for cardiologist tho...
streetard 3 years ago
sorry to hear that - it's correct, extrasystoles are usually harmless and you just have to live with them, even though they annoy you. for me, reading about them and understanding exactly what was going on, did the job. in the end, i had too many extrasystoles - 25.000 in 24 hrs - and ventricular tachycardia (and thus, dizzyness etc.) though, so i had to be put on medication... hope that you find a way to live with your extrasystoles!

What is a sinus rythm?
Rushfan32935 3 years ago
'normal' heart rhythm
bionerd23 3 years ago
I've been waking up in the middle of the night and my heart will be racing and skipping beats...like beating all out of wack.
Does anyone know what this is.
Westend10000 3 years ago
only a doctor can tell you what this is all about - go and tell a cardiologist about your symptoms! there's no way to tell anything without seeing an ECG of your heart.
it eventually is paroxysmal superventricular tachycardia with intermitting (superventricular) extrasystoles, or just sinustachycardia with intermitting PVCs, or... well, a lot that varies from harmless to dangerous.
bionerd23 3 years ago
I've had similar problems myself this past year. I'm not really sure what the hell it is, or why it happens, but I quit drinking caffeen altogether, and I haven't had one since.

hi sounds just like my heart beat. diagnosed atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation and everything in between. i have been prescribed flecainide and due to have ablation in november. has your doctor discussed this with you? wishing you all the very best
paulcraig1001 3 years ago
yeah, but ablation is really dangerous for me, because my PVCs come from the left ventricle - that means i have a chance of about 5% for severe complications such as heart infarction, stroke, severe injury of the heart to need vavle or heart replacement, and death. it's a lot less dangerous for atrial arrythmia or stuff from the right ventricle, so... we decided not do try it, as it sounds insane and i am rather fine on flecainide. but - all the best to you, too, hope you can get rid of your AF!

What does it feel like for you when you go into fits of PVC's like this?
violaheart03 3 years ago
hmmm, hard to say - it feels rather annoying and uncomfortable. much like being struck on your chest by a fist... not painful, but very uncomfortable.
bionerd23 3 years ago
it feels terrbile
my doctors never diagnosed any arrythmias but ive noticed them myself
i have pvc happen daily to me
is it life threatening?
s172mch 3 years ago
It could be life threatnening if you have an underlying heart disease. But i don't think so. If you get dizzy or wake up suddenly while trying to fall asleep or stuff like that, it's normal, everyone who has PVC's feels the same way. I have them daily as well... it's starting to annoy me because i always think i might have something more serious. But really, try to keep your mind off it and don't let anxiety bite you in the butt, that'll only make things more complicated.

whats the difference between ventricular bigemny and the ventricular extrasystole on ECG???
arabian11knight 3 years ago
ventricular extrasystole is just one of them or random ones; ventricular bigeminus means one extrasystole is always altering with one sinus beat ("normal" beat) (so there's one extrasystole, sinus beat, extrasystole, sinus beat, etc.) - but it's the same thing, really. :-)

Mein Gott !!!! U r really deep into all that cardiology stuff :)

hi bionerd23
thank's for porting this file :)
veay interesting
do you have them all the time
i have them beats to
and you take care
strongheartbeat 4 years ago
well, i used to have them all the time - 25.000 (twentyfivethousand) a day, to be exact. but, they put me on flecainide (antiarrythmic drug) - so i now have about 50 PVCs a day. :-)
bionerd23 4 years ago
hi bionerd23
thank you for reply back :)
and thank you for answering my question
and i'm on toprol xl for my antiarrythmic
and it help when i have a lot of pvc's and pac's and you take care
p.s did you see my heart beat vid files when i haveing lot of Premature Beats ?
strongheartbeat 4 years ago
my god..... were you able to perceive them all ?? I just started having PVC's (well, i'm on an event monitor, we THINK they're PVC's), and I only get a couple per day, and I spiral completely into horrible panic. It's also causing terrible depression. How do you cope /?
sonick808 3 years ago
it wasnt bad when i just had a few PVCs a day, but they quickly (within about 18 months) developed to 25.000 (yes, thats TWENTYFIVETHOUSAND) a day, so i was hospitalized and put on flecainide, which almost completely stopped them. now - after about 15 months of treatment - they are coming back though, even though i'm still on the drug - my last long term ECG showed about 900 PVCs. sucks. hope it was just due to stress and that it'll get better again, i dont wanna be hospitalized once more.
bionerd23 3 years ago
I am so sorry you are having to deal with this... I am having such a hard time with a couple, I can't imagine. I will try and send you my remaining balance of good karma to help you out! Best of luck and thanks for the reply... perhaps you could try a course of an anxiolytic like diazepam to see if decreasing anxiety (and hence adrenaline/norepinephrine etc.) will help ?
sonick808 3 years ago
how i cope... well, i learned a lot about them, and i find it fascinating rather than disturbing... as long as they dont kill me, lol. you can see i even got an ECG monitor in my other videos, so i like to look at them PVCs and stuff... dunno, they only really distrub me when im trying to sleep or when im exercising, cuz i get out of breath quickly, having a pulse of only 40 because PVCs dont really pump much blood.
bionerd23 3 years ago
wow, you have a stronger constitution than I do... I'm going to have to talk to someone about cognitive ways to deal with this because right now even one PVC sends me into panic... the first one i had i wrote goodbye notes and a will, thinking i was going to die.... again, sending you my remaining + karma...
sonick808 3 years ago
yeah, i actually think that psychotherapy might help you. dont try and rely too much on drugs, especially not diazepam or the like, as an addiction to those would do your body and mind a lot more harm than all those PVCs... maybe you can try phytotherpy; valerian helps some people, as does mistletoe which strengtens the heart. talk to you doc before taking last mentioned, though - make sure there's no underlying heart disease before taking any of that stuff!
bionerd23 3 years ago
I will take your advice to.... well.... heart. haha. Thank you for your help; it means a lot more coming from someone that experiences it than my cardiologist trying to hurry me out of his office while riveted on his laptop doing something else.... i do need to be careful about the dependence as well. Such a paradox. Best wishes!
sonick808 3 years ago
thanks for your wishes - all the best to you, too! try understanding PVCs... a few a day really arent harmful. researching helped me a lot... maybe it does the same for you?
i dont feel any anxiety, i dont panic when i feel the PVCs or anything - it's just stress (i guess - my heart is healthy), and i dont want to take insane lots of psychiatric drugs against that. i know how to resolve the stress problem, but then again, i'd need to win the lottery for that, so, i'll just live with PVCs. :-P

Have you ever researched Taurine and it's effects for your heart problems? You do know that taurine is found in energy drinks and helps the heart regulate so the energy drink doesn't give the user a heart attack.
hifiguy9 2 years ago
hmm, nope, but i drank plenty of taurine / energy drinks, it didnt really seem to have much of an effect on the arrhythmia.
