This is your top10 and I agree with most part of your choice like Sonic, Mario, Shinobi but in my top 10 there's also Aladdin which is actually not bad game and not a port (like Wonder boy from arcade).
Correction: Alex Kidd in Miracle World better than Sonic the Hedgehog (Master System version). And the answer is "yes...yes it is". The character may not be better (but, really, what's not to like about a monkey boy who knocks enemies out with his giant fist?), but that first game is, IMHO, better than Sonic's first game. Wonder Boy III beats them both, though, but then again that's more of an action/adventure than a straight platformer.

Nope, other way around. Wonder Boy came out before Adventure Island (by about a year or so, actually). The company that developed it for Sega, Westone, owned the game's code while Sega owned the characters. Westone licensed the game code to Hudson, who then used it with all new characters (replacing Wonder Boy with Higgins) and a few other changes and released that as Adventure Island.
There are some really great games you're missing out for the Master System such as Castle Of Illusion and Land Of Illusion, the two Mickey Mouse platformers. Asterix, another great platformer and The Lucky Dime Caper, a Donald Duck platformer. Which I think it more your style of game. There's also Paperboy and The Ninja if you want something other than platformers. And Phantasy Star and Lunar for RPG's although they're a bit dated bhy todays standards.
the music is something out of this world... none of today perfect graphics game make 50% of the emotion of me playing shinobi against these super boses, or alexkid in shinobi world, or even sonic... Oh my god, the kids of today will never experience such a emotion... i was happy and realized during these hours of gameplay...

I've only played Master System on an emulator, but my fave games were probably Phantasy Star, Bubble Bobble, and an Asterix game. All of these look pretty fun too
@Joey19990 It looks like it's running on the real hardware... on a PAL/SECAM Master System which means that it runs in 50Hz. If you used to play on an NTSC system, the games were 17% faster than this, the ratio was different too : filling more vertical space.
Sadly, Master System games were not modified in their PAL versions to compensate for the slowdown they got from going from 60Hz to 50Hz (some NES games do, for example).

I love this console! I only could play it once in a friend house. We played out run with 3d glasses! I was amazed, years later when emulators were born I played a lot of games I liked a lot, I wish i had it in the past. Definitely, one of my favourite consoles even today :) All sonic games, dynamite dux, out run, space harrier, psico fox and shadow dancer are my favourites
I think the problem was that The Master System was released far too late in the west (late 1987). The NES had already been established in the market for a full 2 years before it came out and then before you knew it, the Mega Drive was announced for release in 1989.

Sonic 2 was a bit of a let down for me as a kid it was so jumbled and rushed and incredibly hard to beat. Not really an imrovement on the first which i loved. Alex Kidd is the master system legend i spent many hours as a child trying to beat that game i only did it when i found out the continue cheat
IMO the master system is the better console, the only thing holding it back was the slightly iffy controller...i broke so many of them as a kid.
The graphics and speed are far superior to the nes but to be fair the nes had a lot more titles with amazing music...but then to be fair again the nes had FAR more titles.

The sales depends on the country although the NES had the markets in Japan and North America Sega had the sales in Europe and South America so i'd call it a tie

@scir91 it's a little before my time but as far as I know it did much better than the NES in Europe they certainly seem a lot easier to get hold of nowadays in England. Also games were being released for it in Europe until something like 1996. probably due to the massive UK game industry still churning out good titles.

@1990chrism You're right. They were very easy to get hold of in the UK. Bizarrely, they were available to buy until very late on. In fact I got mine (well, a Master System 2) as late as 1995, brand new in a sale, for just £20.

I've only played Master System on an emulator, but my fave games were probably Phantasy Star, Bubble Bobble, and an Asterix game. All of these look pretty fun too

@Joey19990 It looks like it's running on the real hardware... on a PAL/SECAM Master System which means that it runs in 50Hz. If you used to play on an NTSC system, the games were 17% faster than this, the ratio was different too : filling more vertical space.
Sadly, Master System games were not modified in their PAL versions to compensate for the slowdown they got from going from 60Hz to 50Hz (some NES games do, for example).

I love this console! I only could play it once in a friend house. We played out run with 3d glasses! I was amazed, years later when emulators were born I played a lot of games I liked a lot, I wish i had it in the past. Definitely, one of my favourite consoles even today :) All sonic games, dynamite dux, out run, space harrier, psico fox and shadow dancer are my favourites

I think the problem was that The Master System was released far too late in the west (late 1987). The NES had already been established in the market for a full 2 years before it came out and then before you knew it, the Mega Drive was announced for release in 1989.

Teddy boy and Dynamite Dux should not be in anyones top 10. Not ever, i wouldnt put it at number 200 in a top 200 Ms games of all time. I know its a difference of opinion and our judgements are made of clouded nostalga, but dude, you have made a mistake with Teddy boy. Respect.

HAhahaha that Alex Kidd in Shinobi world is awesomelywacked out. I wonder what they were smoking when they that game. I guess that far into the SMS they realized it was on it's last legs and let the programmers go off the deep end with crazy idea's like that. Game looks rad.

Sonic 2 was a bit of a let down for me as a kid it was so jumbled and rushed and incredibly hard to beat. Not really an imrovement on the first which i loved. Alex Kidd is the master system legend i spent many hours as a child trying to beat that game i only did it when i found out the continue cheat

IMO the master system is the better console, the only thing holding it back was the slightly iffy controller...i broke so many of them as a kid.
The graphics and speed are far superior to the nes but to be fair the nes had a lot more titles with amazing music...but then to be fair again the nes had FAR more titles.
you put in wonder boy 1 instead of the Dragons trap? Are you mad?! Its the best title on the master system!

The sales depends on the country although the NES had the markets in Japan and North America Sega had the sales in Europe and South America so i'd call it a tie

@scir91 it's a little before my time but as far as I know it did much better than the NES in Europe they certainly seem a lot easier to get hold of nowadays in England. Also games were being released for it in Europe until something like 1996. probably due to the massive UK game industry still churning out good titles.

@1990chrism You're right. They were very easy to get hold of in the UK. Bizarrely, they were available to buy until very late on. In fact I got mine (well, a Master System 2) as late as 1995, brand new in a sale, for just £20.
