wrong yet AGAIN: The only tax anyone will pay on the $4500 rebate they receive will be state and local taxes. Therefore the "tax" is not a "Cash for Clunkers tax" but one put on people from their state or local laws. Many people will not even pay this tax depending on their financial situation and the local laws within their state.
Well we will see about this when the tax bill comes Johnsonb2007.If its just limited to state tax then there is still going to be a lot of people pissed. If Obama does in fact, as many suspect he will, tax the entire amount as income, then a lot of people are going to be owing federal income tax this year. And I sincerely doubt that any one who would qualify for a tax break could have afforded to go buy a new car. Even with a discount, poor folks couldn't afford a new car payment.
1. People should want to pay the full amount taxed. Otherwise when they want to sell the car, the assessed value would be $4,500 less than its worth
2. Take the issue up with your state. It's not the fault of Obama's program.
3. To qualify you still had to qualify for credit under today's post financial crash circumstances. This means you need even better credit than before.

I am opposing a government take over of 1/6th of our economy when it is already 11.5 trillion dollars in debt. You can not insure 45 million people and not have to pay more and get less. The numbers do not add up in favor of this. If the Dems were so passionate about PTSD treatment, Obama would not have tried to move war wounded vets to private insurance like he did. Those are just some of the ideas that are out there being offered by the other side of the aisle, including tort reform, not tort elimination.
Reforms should have been enacted during the previous admin, but weren't, and that's a shame for BOTH sides of the aisle.

Portability can not be done at the federal level. Insurance companies do not want it. They enjoy a monopoly and that;s the way they want it.
Tax credit are a way and a reason for insurance companies to raise their rates.

I wish I knew the answer. Either way we all pay for the uninsured. Prevention would be a good start and perhaps some basic standard of care for the uninsured with prevention being a large part of it. Tort reform is also needed and should be on the table as a form of compromise to get some bi partisan thinking. Out of control costs of insurance is a valid concern. A federal government with this much debt piled up running health care reform and cutting costs makes no sense to me.

wrong yet AGAIN: The only tax anyone will pay on the $4500 rebate they receive will be state and local taxes. Therefore the "tax" is not a "Cash for Clunkers tax" but one put on people from their state or local laws. Many people will not even pay this tax depending on their financial situation and the local laws within their state.

If Obama does in fact, as many suspect he will, tax the entire amount as income, then a lot of people are going to be owing federal income tax this year. 1. People should want to pay the full amount taxed. Otherwise when they want to sell the car, the assessed value would be $4,500 less than its worth
2. Take the issue up with your state. It's not the fault of Obama's program.
3. To qualify you still had to qualify for credit under today's post financial crash circumstances. This means you need even better credit than before.

I do support the current health care system and pay for my own coverage along with my families'. I am opposing a government take over of 1/6th of our economy when it is already 11.5 trillion dollars in debt. You can not insure 45 million people and not have to pay more and get less. The numbers do not add up in favor of this. If the Dems were so passionate about PTSD treatment, Obama would not have tried to move war wounded vets to private insurance like he did. Those are just some of the ideas that are out there being offered by the other side of the aisle, including tort reform, not tort elimination.
Reforms should have been enacted during the previous admin, but weren't, and that's a shame for BOTH sides of the aisle.

Ok. Tells us where we're wrong about the Democrats. Show us one, just one example of any of their "well meaning" ideas that achieved its goal. None of them ever have other than creating generational dependence and dependent voters.
The Democrats, from Obama on down, are lying about what the intent of their health care reform, Cap and Trade, and everything else is really about. You either know it and agree or are too stupid to see it.

Therein lies the problem. You claim to be a progressive. That is probably a problem for many conservative folks, whether extreme or middle or liberal. I am not really comfortable with progressive views. But, that at least, defines a difference. A difference in idealogy is half of the problem. But for a lack of verbage, or rhetoric, we resort to #&@? words.

I was just a teenager, and did not really know much about it, except our friend came home with half of his face! The too liberal media put alot of pressure on our nation. Had we finished, some truly contend we were closer, and not caved in to the media, we may have been able tostay, and really stop what happened after we left.Nerly2 million innocents killed by the North, supplied by communists.

There was not end to the Vietnam war. That's the point of why we left.
Innocents in mass numbers were killed on both sides. It may have been much worse had we stayed. China was getting more and more intolerant about the strife as well. That's not a nest we wanted to mess with.
In the end, the media that was mostly neutral or conservative didn't end the war. Kissinger did with the Paris Accord. That's who the S. Vietnamese blame. Not the liberals.
But this is neither here nor there.

My Take. Actually even then, the media put lots of liberal spin on this war and things. Even Walter C. As for China-I am one of those who really could give a rip what they think, as they and the Russians have armed tons of those in N. Korea and N. Vietnam, who fought against us. I don't even like having relationships with those who don't really wish us well! Seemed stupid. But money rules.Had we let our boys really do their jobs, we would have won, and freed the South. Different views here!

We won the Vietnam war.
We made the communists come to the peace table and sign a peace treaty. Hanoi was in ruins, their civilian terrorist army were in tatters. The USSR was being drained of its treasury.
Our problem was the communits never uphold a treaty, the VA wouldn't fight for themselves and the liberals in Congress cut off funding for the military in Vietnam.
Hence, another liberalism mistake cost millions of lives in Southeast Asia in the killing fields of Cambodia.

The big issue IMO with Viet Nam, was not enough troops. I believe that you should go with as much as possible. If you can outnumber them 1000 to 1, then do it. We should have declared war and brought as many soldier as possible to VN.
Also, it amazes me when I hear people point to treatys with communists or other dictators and they complain about them not upholding a treaty(Kim Jong Il). Only an idiot would expect a dictator to never lie!!!

True! We didn't draft enough of them! They bailed out of that war as fast as they could to Canada... and then Carter gave them amnesty so they could return home.
Now they don't have to serve at all... and they get to open their mouths as wide as they can scream when a Republican is in office... while remaining quiet immediately under a Democrat President for fear he will kill off 59,000+ of their conservative neighbor's sons... uh huh... hear the crickets now that Obama is in office?

I don't see a line outside of the Army recruiter's door! The economic hardship would be an excuse for them to join would it not? Why loath the Army now that Bush is out of office? Perhaps it is because they know getting shot at in East Corvina, Ca or the streets of Detroit is enough combat action for them? You'd think they'd know the word STOP as it is on every sign at the end of their blocks? Perhaps it is the WHITE lettering on a RED sign that makes them blank it out as a possibility?

i will let the facts speak for themselves. how many black republican members of congress are there now? 0. the vast majority of the south went for McCain. All of the south went for george w. twice. 90% of black votes go to democrats, and it has been that way for years. draw your own conclusions

But in spite of all their promises, Democrats haven't really done anything to improve their lives.Illegitimacy is up, Incarceration is up, life expectancy is lower, Education is lower, Income is lower. Both single motherhood and abortion is up among blacks.
Yeah, when you're impoverished, it's easy to vote for the ones who promise you more money, even though they never really deliver, which keeps them poor and voting Democrat.

A monopoly is one company controlling the market, which is what the "public option" would become once it runs the private sector out of business. By your definition Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Kia, etc, enjoy a "monopoly" over the car business.
I hope Pin Strips falls flat one his face with this and it is his "Waterloo". Then the consrevative, (real conservative) majority in 2010 can fix this.

People are trying to take too much advantage. Insurance is supposed to be for unforeseen expenses.
Do you file a claim for changing oil in your car? NO! Some things are personal responsibility. Yearly Dr. visits and check-ups is personal responsibility.
Even the private insurance cos. get taken advantage of. But if the govt. takes over, more corruption!

I wish I knew the answer. Either way we all pay for the uninsured. Prevention would be a good start and perhaps some basic standard of care for the uninsured with prevention being a large part of it. Tort reform is also needed and should be on the table as a form of compromise to get some bi partisan thinking. Out of control costs of insurance is a valid concern. A federal government with this much debt piled up running health care reform and cutting costs makes no sense to me.

Tort reform seems to make sense but in reality it is just a red herring.
But prove me wrong. Give me data of tort reform lowering cost for all.
I content everyone but the consumer wins. Cost of consumer premiums and medical services will continue to rise.
No doubt our nations debt is a concern,
However the republican's messiah, Regan, believed debt is a good thing and promoted it's value.
I disagree with how he meant it, but I believe wise investments will lower cost in the long run.

I really do not want to prove anyone wrong or right, all I want is what is best for the working person and taxpayers. I have an acquaitance who is a neuro surgeon. He is a Democrat that voted for Obama and his having some buyers remorse also. That being said, he pays $300 a day for malpractice insurance for his practice. He has never even been sued yet. Someone is paying for that cost as it is getting passed on in his fees to patients and their insurance companies. A red herring?

In England they have tort reform and limits on lawsuits. We need it here, we have too many lawyers that are politicians and vice versa. Howard Dean admitted that tort reform was taken off the table by Dems because of the trial lawyers lobby. He is a Doctor and knows how much they siphon off.
