Pit bulls are great dogs. Historically they were originally bred to be gentle and non-violent toward humans, so during a dog fight (yes they were originally bred as fighting dogs) when the owner needed to intervene the pit bull wouldn't attack its owner. So it's no surprise that most pit bulls are not aggressive toward humans.
But I can't stand the ghetto thug type losers who own pit bulls solely for the "gangsta" image and raise their dogs violently. Those are irresponsible owners.

i love seeing sweet big dogs. i hate that pits have gotten such a bad name. it's the owners, who don't train/raise their dogs responsibly. my mom's dog got attacked by two pits. luckily my mom was able to get away and the dog was fine eventually. the owner let's them run loose, and animal control won't do anything about it. my good friend has a pit, and she is the sweetest baby in the world. i have a rottie mix, and he's a big baby. you just have to train them properly

Hate to break it to you, but that's not a pit bull.....not a pure breed, anyway. That dog is far too big. Clearly, that bloodline, like so many others, has been watered down by mixing with larger breeds, perhaps mastiffs of some sort.

Daisy is a certified Therapy Dog who visits the pediatric cancer ward of our local hospital weekly. She is trainged to stay limp when a human touches her, especially a child. In her work as a Therapy Dog, she regularly lies motionless on her side on a child's bed while the child cuddles her. She knows to stay still and she is never unsupervised because I am a responsible owner/guardian.

She knows to stay still and she is never unsupervised because I am a responsible owner/guardian.

@alisonhansen What a beautiful dog, i have 2 pits both very loved. How do you go about training for therapy?? as i have trained mine for all sorts of "tricks" but they still seem bored like they always want to learn something new, and they both already sort of do what that dogs doing. They lie down near my son or any of his friends they do not stand over the kids and are very careful. I have seen how fast and clumsy they can be in the yard but in with the kids its like a different dog!!

Have you met a pit bull?Remember that "pit bull" means any bull and terrier cross, so everything from a Boston Terrier to a Boxer is considered a pit bull.So you've met hundreds of pit bulls I'm sure. Have you ever seen one attack anyone? To be sure, some people TRAIN their dogs to be aggressive, but no animal is born that way. Daisy is a certified Therapy Dog and although in her previous home before I rescued her, she was regularly attacked by other dogs, sometimes you can't beat the good out of a dog. She now visits the elderly every week at a hospice center. 2 of the Michael Vick dogs are Therapy Dogs now too. It's NOT about the dog. It's about the CURRENT OWNER and the time and training and LOVE the dogs gets. Just like a child, a dog is a simple reflection of its human guardians.

So all the stats lie, its just my warped point of view. I have personally seen these dogs for no reason turn on people 5 minutes earlier they were playing with. They have brain disorders that can't be corrected.

What fucking stats? I keep hearing people talking about these so-called 'stats' yet when I look for these dog-related attacks the black lab and rottweiler are on the top of the list with pitbulls being 4-5th. So yes, it is just your warped point of view. If people want to find something that they want to hear they'll find it alright. There have been no scientific studies that any species of dog have any particular brain disorder...or the ability to take down a rhinosaurus or stop bullets.

You say you've seen a dog turn on their owner 5 minutes later? The owner must be doing things to that dog when you're not around..you can't see everything. Pitbulls were especially bred not to be aggressive to humans but rather to other animals so there is something wrong when these things do happen.

It should be noted that the American Pit Bull Terrier was the very first breed to be registered by that organization. American Staffordshire Terrier is a breed recognized by the AKC. They are essentially the same breed, just recognized by different registries.

There's this stray pitbull in my neighborhood that's an absolute sweetheart, and my neighbor always spazzes about me giving her walks, baths, or feeding her, thinking she's going to eat my face off or something.
It's really upsetting how stereotyped this beautiful breed it, and I think this video definitely shoots it down.
