It is human nature to hold on to something which can be relied upon. The tribal people who have been isolated for long and have been neglected in modern times, have continued to carry on with their ways and tradition only because of their natural surroundings, which has continued to provide them with all their needs. For these people, their natural surroundings also hold significant religious ties because of their pagan beliefs, just like an important temple, mosque, gurudwara or church.
Its a shame that government sell their soul to the devil just for a little cash in their pockets its sad that money talk and shit destroys everything..... They are detroying our lands for their own pleasure so they could live their rich life in a thrown...What is there for our kids in the future????? I think they are brilliant in destroying the world instead of saving it..... What a waste of intelligence!
As others have pointed out, I was initially surprised and disappointed looking at the number of dislikes. Then again, I think this is something we can expect more of in the coming days - indifference for the environment is growing; we are shunning all our values in favor of rapid growth and industrialization. However there is still hope - we can yet reverse these trends and avoid the mistakes the developed countries made. And documentaries like these are steps in the right direction.
An intersting video- exmple of sheer injustice raising many questions on the idea of 'progress' and 'development'.. whose land? and who has rights on it? whos priorities and whose comforts and lives matter? Who decides progress, and on whose blood n tears? And who is progressing in ths 'progress' and whose lives are shatterd in the process..
How true was Arundhati's remark - "Flags are pieces of colored cloth, first used to shrinkwrap people's brains and then, to bury their dead" !
The dislikes are from the vedanta company goons and those the company has coopted. Vedanta bribes everyone in its path, poisons the land and water, exploits all the resources the people need and even kills people, It has had the impunity to do so because of the support from the PMO, corrupt judges as well as the local Congress politician Bhaktha Charan Das who election was funded by Vedanta, Chief minister of Orissa, PC Chidambaram, among others.
suma josson has been vigorously highlighting the misdeeds of the regional and national governments against the interests of the tribal people of india and mother nature.it almost seems like a one woman,s battle to save the saveable against the mighty multinationals.Right from her exposure of the misdeeds of a certain political party in mumbai,(muslims against hindus)in her hard hitting eyeopener "BOMBAY;S BLOOD YATRA",sumaji has relentlessly taken off where Mahatma Gandhiji left.god bless her.
I am sorry to inform that there are poor representation of thebiodiversity side. I have worked in Niyamgiri with my collegues from 2005-2009. I feel this film can be improved better by adding more facts about the rich biodiversity of the area. Please contact me: wolfsnakes@gmail.com.
Very insightful documentary. It is indeed sad that these tribals are being overlooked in the quest for modernization and natural resources. It would be unjust to sacrifice them as well as the flora and fauna in this beautiful ecosystem.
Brings out the extraordinary intelligence of God's greatest creation and his Creative Destruction - Greed and Money is the Mantra of Vedantas and other like minded people. Mother earth be damned.
Thanks for making the film. It is heart-breaking what is happening in this country in the name of development. The film is very well-shot and passionately narrated. Congratulations.
Adivasis cannot be sacrificed for the profits of mining companies and greed of corrupt politicians, neither can that greed (both corporate and political) and those private profits masquerade as 'development' or the 'public/national' good
People disliking this video are also good people but just ill-informed about how companies are established ONLY to maximize profits. This profit greed makes them cut costs by disregarding environment laws, bribing govt. officials, reducing labor rates, abusing labor, etc. to the extent they can get away with.
The Chief Operating Officer (Mukesh Kumar) of Vedanta Aluminum Ltd. was interviewed for 2 hours this last Dec. and I could clearly see nothing but $ $ in his eyes and words.
Actually i am not surprised by the ignorance of 12 people and their dislike status. Anyways its about adivasis and a MNC crushing their resources. Which is normal for us by now? and for those who think its not normal please click the LIKE button. n do your bit......
The narration and the interviews with people was really good.....Hope the mining lease is never given until all the demands of the local people are heard...
Niyamgiri is not the source of Bansadhara and Nagavali. NGOs and activists are doing false propaganda about the origin of these two rivers.

Raises so many questions, the video would definitely touch hearts , for those who have one...
Whose land is it anyway- these people living here for ages, or the somebody in an A/c room far away in delhi?
For whose development and in whose lands?
Its their land beyond doubt- do they need bauxite? shouldnt v leave them alone?
Hearts have hardened, Sense returns only when ones own world shatters..
THEY should part with what they have for OUR INDIA to progress- for our shopping malls n wat nt

this loot has to stop, if the country is to survive.
it is not a matter of just the tribals, but of human dignity that is of highest importance.
the mafia-masquerading-politicians will have to go away, leaving the nation, just like the Tunisian dictator had to run.
I only hope they have got their mansion in Saudi Arabia ready for use now.
