nothing on this planet beats the sound or smells of hot, muddy, well used and fettled british iron. oh. the smell!!! cups of hot tea mashed on the stove. happy days indeed.
The sidecar in 4th place at 1-12 and again seen at 1-30 is the 250 Greeves outfit built for Dave Bickers, though in this film it is ridden by Mick Scott with Pete Smith in the chair as usual. And that's Pete again leading the 250s at 1-45. Spotted Dave Nicoll in his yellow waterproof too at 2-18. Keith Potter won the chairs by the way, and Andy Lee was also there that day and did the winning, but not JVS or DGB, I'm afraid.
My Dad rode at Arrington, nr Cambridge too. This event was probably run by the Centaur Club and some of the solo riders include Jeff Smith, Dave Bickers and Freddie Mayes. Great bit of archive film!

Thanks Scrambledhodge, How on earth do you know all this? :-)

I saw all these riders as a kid so I can recognise them, and I can look up the reports in my library of old bike mags.
